I feel it is part of our DNA and once a person has one successful hunt they are hooked. Some people in Modern society try to get away from it and say this is barbaric and not for civilized people yet if society broke down they would be the first to ask a hunter for help in getting food. As a hunter we know how disillusioned these people are. I can see a day where hunting and or hunters are few but the itch to seek out the unknown wilderness, follow in our four fathers foot steps and provide food will always draw new hunters. Some answers seem simple but I believe it is because we as hunters know how right it feels. We as hunters were and will always be the best keepers of the land. We started the green movement many years ago with conservation and even today our hunters are the best at preserving habitat and improving the land. (Thank you Theodore Roosevelt!) Tradition, nature, self sustaining and being a part of the circle of life and a greater awareness of how we fit in the circle, yes this is hunting to me.

So sorry, my condolences.

99% of the guys I shoot with that have a 60lbs draw use 400 's I used the 340 (heavier) for a long time and found the 400's with faster speeds penetrate the same in 3D targets. I am sure if I did a speed test on both and put in the calculations it would be about the same KE. 340 at say 260 something fps is probably similar to 400's at over 270 fps. Next time I test I will get the speed of both and post. This calculator is a bit more simple. http://archerycalculator.com/archery-kinetic-energy-and-momentum-calculator/

That is part of West Hills Park, same area of discussion but on the south side of Northern State Parkway. No hunting in this area yet. It is possible they might start to open some area's once they get more overpopulated.

That is funny, I was looking at the Elite 32 another great bow.

Make your own out of a walking stick with extra branches on top for different levels. Top side branches should only stick out a few inches and a custom carving can be done if you whittle. Time consuming but well worth the effort. The lighter the better! I made 3 walking sticks so far but do not use them to hunt with. Fun when you are sitting at camp after tagging out! Just an idea...

Unless you are shooting the maximum draw length and highest poundage most bow's do not come close to IBO posted speeds. I generally shoot what I hunt with and that is not usually a fast arrow. My bow is rated at 293 fps with a 65 lbs draw at 30 draw length but I am 28.5 and I get 270 +. I do not expect most bows to shoot at rated IBO because of my draw length but would be interested if the bow reached say 300+ fps as that would be a 30 fps jump. I know most state how speed does not mean accuracy but it gets to my target faster and that makes a difference on deer and string jump and if I misjudge a target the faster arrow has less drop and that to me equals better accuracy when I misjudge a few yards. (No I do not need to be taught how speed does not mean accuracy, lets not go their.) Looking forward to your review Chiefbkt!

Wow that's a fast bow! If you can, test out the speed and let us know what you get. Draw length, arrow weight and Lbs. Looks like a great bow! Good luck, hope it's everything you want!

Sorry about my rant... Seems funny to me because every time they try to ban a gun everyone and their grandmother goes out and purchases them. So where did the thousands of "assault rifles" go to after the ban? Yep now EVERYONE has an assault rifle, great job? The gun makers love when you ban any gun because the sales orders go though the roof. No statistics on how many people turned in there assault guns because then it would prove how much of a failed attempt it was. Then they can try again with pistol grips? Next hand guns with a capacity of more then 6 rounds. etc. In fact I would say that banning guns has put more guns in the general publics hands. But they will keep that information private. Well what did I expect from politicians? They only do this for votes as even they know banning any gun will not stop any crazy from killing and the sheep follow and say YEA see what we did? We stopped violence! No you did not... Teach people about morals and value of life no matter how insignificant, make helping others a common core in schools and teach parents that they are responsible for the kids behavior in school. Or we can just let the kids do what they want like in this video. Bet Al Sharpton will not act on this scene wonder why? http://www.cbsnews.com/news/video-mob-of-high-school-students-attacks-man-at-gas-station/?ftag=YHF4eb9d17 These kids are lucky this man showed extreme restraint. The parents should celebrate the fact that all these kids are alive and bring them to justice. But with morals that allow over 20 people to beat up one person I would not hold my breath. He had a hand gun yet did not use it, lucky for these kids. Not so sure another person would have shown such restraint with a kid in the car.

Don't get caught up in the numbers game, this is an awesome deer. A good buck is a good buck and this one qualifies as a great one! Don't worry about a score because this deer was a home run grand slam!!!

I have the same draw length with about 270 fps using a 400 Beeman ICS Hunter pro at 8.1 GPI You should have no problems with penetration.

Sounds good but looks almost as dangerous as a bike. I would like to see how the first few models hold up. If they give a good warranty for the powertrain it's worth it.

Hunting with friends is fun but as they seem to drop off and show less interest in hunting I still find myself drawn to the woods. The challenge, tradition and experience of the hunt and love of nature and connecting with the spiritual side of hunting has become my passion. Even though I would love to get a big buck every year, I find just being in the woods gives me great satisfaction. Watching deer, tracking and trying to outsmart them on the ground presents the challenge I seek and brings me back to days when this was the only way to get food on the table. To me nothing seems as natural as hunting in deep woods and watching the sun rise and wake up the land and its critters. It just feels right!

Cool pics!

That small it does look like a mink.

Hope this is your best year every First-Light and Wildcat! Happy B-day!

They infest the LI farm I hunted last year for deer management.

My 340's go slower than my 400's and both penetrate about the same. Heavy arrow shots slower and a light one shoots faster, both have about the same KE and are a pain in the neck to pull out of 3D unless you lub up the tips. If the speed was the same for both arrows then the heavy arrow has more KE.

Real beauty, congrats tree guy!!! Mount looks great!

He let the shark go once he noticed he was on film.

Release is a personal preference. Some like a release with a wrist strap, others prefer a hand held release, most are good. Testing them to see which you like is best. Arrows are about 10-14$ for good ones each. Most expandable broad heads sold in stores are legal for hunting otherwise check the DEC web site.
