  1. As a relatively young buck he probably did not participate in the breeding season and was able to make it through the winter with little stress. I think that makes a big difference in how long they hold the antlers and is one of the biggest factors on when antlers drop. He will be stud this year but he will probably leave the area.
  2. We do this in most every stand as urban hunting is usually limited in the amount of area you have to hunt. The deer tend to spot it more later season when it sticks out as the leaves disappear. Usually by that time I have to change tactics as the deer tent to pick up on our routine. The better you blend in the less chance of getting spotted. I tend to brush in the trail enter side more and the back where I can not shot the most.
  3. Different indeed! Thanks for sharing!
  4. Wow that is pretty epic! Hope the rest of your day is just as good if not better! Congrats on the bird and way to keep it together when the presser was on!
  5. I know I was looking at the satellite and could not find the tripod, when will it be set up? Too funny!
  6. I float mine for the spine, are these shrink wraps? I had some issues with them so I now glue them on myself, bit of a pain but works better for me.
  7. Set it up soon! And I need the GPS location! :-)

  9. Well I don't think I will every match that! Wow, epic. Congrats and way to save the day!
  10. Is this how the zombie apocalypse starts?
  11. Yea call Campsite, they can help.
  12. Something else that really puts the fear in me, great! I did not even want to read about this yet! Scary. I don't really think they care about the disease deer have just controlling the numbers.
  13. I get yelled at for passing spikes! "If your hunting LI and do not shooting everything you are part of the problem." I have been told. These people must not hunt LI because where I hunt on LI the public area's are not overpopulated! I have no problem shooting a doe due to overpopulation yet I have only seen 2 areas on LI that needed it. We took 3 bucks and 17 doe in 2 years from that area (Low estimate). I have to agree with some of the other posters on here that basically say to do what you want if it is legal and don't worry so much what the other guy is doing, unless it is your neighbor it will probably have little effect on your hunting. I say the same about religion, if you have no faith don't harp on the ones with it, it does not affect you yet you make it a point to belittle that person just because he or she is different than you. God does not pull the trigger or aim for us, that is up to us and practicing. Yet when we than the lord for a beautiful hunt and well placed bullet we are chastised. When the chips are down and nothing is right sometimes faith is all that person has left. Sometimes this is the only thing that pulls people through the hard times in life, don't judge lest you be judged first. God Bless all huntingny.com posters!
  14. Thinking about bow in the ADK again, yea I am a glutton for punishment. Not much of an improvement but its fun! Going to try some more public land spots. Most of my improvement involves making it harder, lol. Less sitting in trees and more stalking and calling.
  15. Get well soon! Glad everything is going good!
  16. Just a thought, you could paint the eye in? Or even pain one in red and blue so it would be red white and blue! Again very cool, your talent is great! It would take me years to do this! And it would not look like those!
  17. Simply put it is really easy to quite something that requires so much! Hunting is really something you have to want, otherwise it is a lesson in futility especially if you do not enjoy it and find it more work than play. Making it fun and interesting is something kids do not always understand, this is why our great mentors are so precious.
  18. Welcome aboard and good luck!
  19. Funny I wanted to get the license and then found I missed it at my club! Arg! Eventually.
  20. Kind of sucks it is not open, I have a few spots loaded with them. In about 4 years the snipers will have to be used to control the population.
  21. That is a long shot with that bow, most of the guys at the club would have missed at that range! Nice shot!!!
