  1. Yes! If you are caught in an area with a barbeque you can get charged for baiting bear too. Any food that is not removed where you are hunting including bird feeders are considered baiting. Same on state land where poachers put out food, if you see it you need to report it and move out of the area. If you get caught by a bait pile regardless if you put it out or not you will be charged. This is from what I have been told and heard from other hunters.
  2. The 8 is a nice buck. I would go for the 10 but that's me. Good luck regardless of what you choose!
  3. Yes they can like mentioned if undisturbed. Shoot the matriarch and you will see her young will stay away from that area but shoot the younger deer and the lead doe will still stay in the area. I have checked old patterns and seen deer in the exact same spot many years later. Dispersal, Rut, poor mast crop, change in the woods, ex: fallen tree as mentioned or excessive presser from anything can cause the pattern to change. Many factors but I find even old trail patterns if on a main run will always be used to some degree.
  4. Makes me think about bringing a bigger knife when I bow hunt up North, lol. I have seen them chase doe across the road into Oneida lake. Wow they where on these deer until the road and houses then they backed off. Deer swam a good distance in the lake before we left the area. Sounds like that area needs some deer hunters to help out or a couple of coyote hunters. I would get a bigger quiver, lol. And a machete. Where gonna need a bigger boat.
  5. Awesome buck Grizz1219! And he was the one you where after, man that is really cool. Talk about having things go right. I hope the rest of the season is as good! Congrats!
  6. I draw just before they get into sight, like stated when behind a tree or any cover when they will not see your draw. Then if they do not stop at the spot I want I will give a MAA, MAAAA call to get them to stop and pose for my shot. Did this shot last year on a doe, she posed for 10 full seconds. Got lucky. Draw starts after the 1:15 mark.
  7. Nothing like hunting them on the ground with a bow. I always have an arrow knocked and when I get close I have my release on the string. In real thick woods, rough terrain, slippery rocks, steep incline or decline I will throw the arrow back in the quiver. Something primitive about hunting them from the ground that adds to the excitement!
  8. Great idea! Glad your ok, your safety worked!
  9. Glade your OK Grampy!!! Get some rest and heal up good! Scary!
  10. One of our members at Suffolk archers had a broken arrow that hit him in the wrist. It was damaged from hitting the ground, check your arrows! Compound bows have too much presser on them to play around with. Just not worth risking your life! I would give you my Mathews but I did the same exact thing to that string! lol
  11. Don't draw that bow anymore! Not worth the risk! If the string lets go it can hit your neck and take you out, get it replaced!
  12. We have one guy who would shoot every buck mentioned. If you shoot all your younger bucks you will not have older deer. Not that I would not take a good 3 year old with a nice rack but we would rather have 4 or better as our goal. Lucky for me it is possible in this area if we can get everyone aboard! Last year 2 good bucks where taken from another area, hope this one does not have two young guns taken in addition. Restraint is the biggest issue, hard to pass a 20 yard broadside shot on something like this, especially if they pose for you! PS: Not all area's will have this age group especially in NY. I am lucky to have access to such an area! And I am lucky the hunters are trying to let the young guns come of age for the most part.
  13. Bump, lol. Too funny, figured someone needed a laugh!
  14. I was playing the music on the radio, you can hear the change in volume when I put the cam out the window. Don't think he will be able to sue me when I purchased the DVD, it was not added. Not to worried as most my videos are not viewed by millions, lol.
  15. Thanks Wolc123, good luck to you this season!
  16. I would have liked almost all these posts IF I could, lol. Not so sure I would have passed him, he does look like a 3 year old and I could see one of us shooting him with a short shot window. Because he was directly under the stand my buddy Chris got a good look at him and that was the real reason he was passed. He is a good 3 year old but will be a real shooter at 4 and this is really what we are going for so this guy is now off limits. Lucky for us we are in an area that has high population and can pass something like this. If we actually shoot one of the better ones you will see why we pass these guys. Fingers crossed, pre rut is close! This is the same area I saw a brute last year and hope he is still around.
  17. This is the video from the 2010 ADK hunting trip. Warning many F bombs Adult Language. Shows my buddy Shawn telling the story of the 2010 buck, this is dedicated to him. Hope this gets the blood pumping for the season! Otherwise you are on the wrong site, lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDGUtaFgbLg&feature=youtu.be
  18. Me and my buddy Chris hunted today up and in stand by 2pm and I saw this two year old as my first deer for the day. Nice little basket 8 at about 42 yards. Hope he makes it to next year! The second 2 pics are from my buddy Chris who passed on a decent 3 year old that was a 4X3 with good body size. Could you pass this opening day? He should have jumped on its back, lol. j/k I saw about 15 deer, 1 fawn buck, another fawn, 1 spike, 4pt and basket 8 I think most all the others where doe 2 ran from another doe doing a MAA call, lol, I swear I though it was a hunter trying to stop a deer for a shot! I think our total deer sighing was around 40 combined, pretty cool opening day! Hope this guys can make it through the season but I have my doubts.

  21. I shot today after getting a pair of rubber boots at the new Field and Stream. Used the boots I sprayed with tick spray anyway. I was rushed a bit so after getting to the range I did a 50 yard shot and missed low! I said WHAT THE? Dam I used my 40 pin, ARG! Then I almost dry fired! Arg!!! Rushing things messes me up so I slowed down a bit... So second shot of the day because the first was a miss. 48 Yards with my 50 pin. I was happy and did a few shots from 20-38 yards and was off to hunt. `
  22. Shoot!!! O wait, I thought I was still in the stand, lol. That is exactly what I am after! Nice buck, good luck with him WNY Bowhunter!
