  1. Congrats to Kim Rhode for getting a 6th STRAIGHT Olympic medal, news seems to keep this hush hush because she used a gun! Such a shame that they are not proud of this great American! You rock Kim! I hope you get a 7th medal!!! Congratulations again, you are awesome! https://www.yahoo.com/news/female-shooter-makes-olympic-history-113217824.html
  2. Bow or gun right behind the shoulder is what I want broadside or slightly quartering away.
  3. Sep 3rd the first one was the flyer to the left 20 yards. Today I switched to the Easton DaTorch and will have to recheck everything including paper tune etc. Ya.
  4. I have to do this. Lucky for me I have a guy at Suffolk Archers Wai who helps me tune the bow. We usually paper tune, I do a 60 yard shot to see if the pins line up and retest at 20 if they do I then set up the broadheads. Hope I can get it done in one day!
  5. Happy B-Day! Sounds like a great day lined up with family and friends what could be better!
  6. You really need to scout for bow in the ADK. Flat land is not very abundant in the ADK and most the area's I hunt are not flat at all. Calling works well if done right but it is some of the hardest to hunt area due to foliage still present in many area's makes seeing any distance hard. The later part of the season opens up the woods a bit more as the leaves fall. Main thing is to enjoy your time in the woods, if you do that you will have fun regardless of what you see or shoot. I use the bow to scout deer for rifle. Be ready when it happens the deer will be close and you probably will not have time to knock an arrow. Good luck LJC!
  7. Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing!
  8. I think we have a great core group of people on this site.

    Hi All

Welcome aboard, great to have you!
  10. BuckMaster7600 you can make them yourself, you just need to purchase the rope. You can start off with a few a year, before you know it you will have all stands set up. Invest in your safety, remember you are worth it!
  11. Wow some great advice here! I have shot arrows that cost 15$ each and 8$ arrows. Unless you are shooting competition usually you will not notice a difference. I mark arrows that seem to drift left or right, high and low and see if they keep shooting that way, most of the time it is me and not the arrow. Number your fletching to know which arrows you favor for hunting season. ADKHunter it sounds like you purchased lighter arrows, that will pick your speed up. ok some of my first shots. Aug 4th first arrow was bottom left, sorry so blurry. I found adding an extra fletching causes me to shoot left, lol. 20 yards. Aug 7th Field Shoot 36 yards first shot was Black and purple fletching at 8 O'clock. Aug 14th start of the field shoot championship. 36 Yards Top Right green knock. Aug 17th 50 yards. I think the first shot was the top arrow, buddy Hector is the one red knock. Today 10 Yards bottom right. For me its all about form and slowing down my shot sequence. When I shoot every other day my form holds well but overshooting like when I did the field shoots was a bit much for a 65lb bow and 112 shots! Big difference compared to a 30 round 3D shoot. Now that I feel my form is back I will switch to 3D targets and get the bow tuned for broadheads. Keep in mind bad form will cause bad paper tuning so be sure your form is good when testing.
  12. Thanks for sharing Water Rat! Got a good laugh out of this one!
  13. I use my teeth to pull them out. Don't try this at home, lol. I would use plyers they will come right out. I shoot the ICS hunter pro's in 400. They are a little hard to get started when you twist them but I would not make them loose by sanding or they might start popping out when you hit a hard target. I have also twisted them when on the string. The plyers should pull them right out, never had an issue with them NOT coming out but they are a little tight.
  14. West on LI and sometimes out of the North. Yes thermals can change but he is asking what the prevailing winds are.
  15. I have shot thousands of arrows out of my drop away. I did have to replace it once this year and I think I had that bow for over 3 years now. I hunt in rain and all sorts of bad weather, it works great but bad weather it does not like after 3 years or so. Good thing is it's a lifetime warranty, send it back and now I have a brand new one in addition to the extra one I purchased when I sent this one out. Regardless of what you choose they will all work if set up properly! Some last longer than others...
  16. I wanted a nice 6 so bad I shot one but it was a 4pt lol.
  17. The acorns taste better than the other food right now and it is easer to get a bunch of it without moving much. They will get to your fields just give them some time.
  18. With all the horrible warm weather last year driving most activity at night and a mild winter, I predict this year we will have some real brutes taken. IF the weather cooperates! One thing is for sure if you try to hunt big bucks in NY it can be very boring at times! Personally I really enjoy our woods in general. Watching deer has become one of my favorite things to do while hunting and really gives you a better understanding of how they work. I don't worry about the guy who shoots the first buck he sees when hunting private property. That means he will not shoot the big one! Unless he has multiple tags like some like to do here and see no reason why it is illegal. I could literally get 10 buck tags if I hunted that way, I guess I would not care about shooting a spike because I would still have all my tags to shoot any other animal I want to poach. Sorry, going out into left field here.
  19. It's all in good fun! I would have to say 3.5 due to the round back in the second picture, chest seems a bit small for a 4 year old. He is fattening up! Looks healthy! Good luck with him.
