That actually looks like it might be deer fibroma. Basically warts. Here's a pic of an extremely severe case of fibroma.

Nice pics! Thats a handsome fella !

I just remembered! I have to wash all my hunting gear this weekend.

I do the exact same thing as you John. I like to use Dead Down Wind products when it comes to scent control. Wash, Dry with unscented dryer sheets, Spray and then store in air tight totes. Seems to work pretty well. I also use earth scent spray but I was thinking about just using the Evolve 3 DDW unscented spray this year. I have earth, pine, and acorn scent wafers from Hunters Specialties that I like to use in the woods. I'm a sucker for all the scent products I guess. -
What about small game ?

No offense but it sounds like to me that you have bigger problems than people spotlighting and/or poaching around your property.

You'd be surprised how strong even a little deer is. Plus it was fighting for it's life. I saw a spike throw a 250 pound guy like he was a rag doll. The deer was stuck on a barbed wire fence and we were trying to free it up. My friend who is a big boy grabbed it by it's antlers and the next thing I know I see him flying past me like superman !

My Dad and me caught a guy who shot a real nice buck opening day of bow with a rifle. I held him at gun point with his own rifle until the state trooper got there. They hauled his butt to jail and we got a reward from Tips. We tried to get the antlers of the deer but they had already sent it off to be disected. The guy lost his hunting privleges for a while, not sure how many years but I do know he stopped even going up to his property during hunting season. He still doesn't come up. The buck was huge probably one of the biggest I've seen come out of that area. What a moron. One of his buddies that lives next to his property still doesn't like us for having him arrested. Oh well.

My bad, that only applies if you are bowhunting deer

I think it's illegal to have a centerfire in the woods once Deer Archery season opens. Make sure you check the regulation book.

Nice bow. Mathews makes great equipment.

Wow that deer is ripped. Nice and healthy

I just heard that the Japanese will resume their whale hunting again this season. They are doing it under the guise of "research" but in reality they are selling the whale meat to be eaten. I wanted to see how you guys feel about it. I personally think it's wrong but I'm also not too sure about the Sea Sheppard's way of stopping it.

Those using Hornady Leverevolution, ever have any problems with them loading/cycling in the chamber? I was thinking of picking up a box for the .444, and mentioned it to a friend. He tried them & jammed his 35 Rem so bad, he couldn't clear it, & had to take it in to a smith to free the action.. Glad I wasn't along on that trip I had the same problem with my .35 Marlin using the leverevolution rounds. I contacted Marlin and they told me to send them the rifle and they fixed it for free. Now my .35 loves those rounds. No feed jamming, accurate, and deadly. Tell your buddy to call Marlin.

Sorry to hear about your mother.

My rifle is almost identical to yours except mine is a featherweight. It was handed down from my grandfather to my dad and then to me. Great rifle indeed ! That scope you have on that rifle looks pretty old also. Is that an old Redfield ?

I don't need bullets. I kill deer with my mind.

I spotlight in my area a lot. On our property, state, and others private land. As long as you don't have a weapon in your truck there's nothing wrong with it. We have some idiots who poach around our area and I've even caught a few and had them arrested. That doesn't mean I get mad when people spotlight. Shining a light in a deer's eyes is not going to scare it out of your area either. Trophy or not.

And like doc said it's because of hunters like you that we sit tight with our food and wait for you guys to push that bedded buck right to us. But everyone is different.

That's why they make arm guards

Hello big welcome! I also hunt in Greene county, Beech ridge area off 42. Where abouts do you hunt in Greene county ?

Went to the range day before yesterday with my Dad and for the first time in 40 years his .35 Marlin had a problem. It turned out to be a simple fix thankfully. His Marlin kept mis-firing so I took apart the firing pin assembly out of the bolt cleaned out a little "crud", lubed it where needed put it back together and presto ! All Better ! This rifle is older than I am and it just keeps on killing deer. What a great lever action.
