  1. Thanks for the input Steve. I do hunt on the edge of a corn field with woods behind me and trails that lead just below my stand. I'm hoping the fields have been cut. I think I will put out some plain old doe urine and play the wind.
  2. Does anyone use any doe/buck scents during late season? I was at Dicks this morning and was thinking of picking some up but decided against it. I thought it might spook away the big guy I'm after. Any thoughts?
  3. Nice video guys! Good eats as well!
  4. That's ok. My mom was born in 1928 and we all say shes 83. She insists she's 81. If you do the math it doesn't add up . . . Lol.
  5. A lot of us i'm sure don't get to go out as often as we would like due to family and work obligations. That's the main reason that when I do hunt I sit most of the day. I hunt in an area that is not really pressured - private land 130+ acres. So there is always some action going on especially when the corn is harvested.
  6. Elmo so sorry for your loss. For what it's worth at least she passed peacefully.
  7. The problem that I have up in my area is that all the deer hide in the corn fields and you never see them until the corn is cut. That's what happened last year. I shot a button buck (thinking it was a doe) on opening day 20 yards away from my stand and after the corn was harvested in the last week of firearm season, I shot my 6pt on the last day of rifle season. Saw nothing in between. I also know that its OK not to shoot anything this year either. If it happens it happens if not . . . it's not like my family won't eat for the year.
  8. Yeah you're right. But now that I know I can use my regular season buck tag during late bow season to take either sex AND use my regular bow tag (which I did not fill during early season) to take another either sex, then my freezer shall be filled one way or another . . . or maybe not . . . LOL.
  9. Happy hunting article for a change. A 4 year old that was out hunting with his grandpa used his grandpa's IPhone to call his parents when the grandpa went into diabetic shock. http://wibx950.com/4-year-old-saves-grandpa-iphone-video/
  10. The only weird thing I saw was when I was sitting in my stand the second day of opening weekend for firearm season, I saw a half a 6 pt. (One of his antlers was completely gone and had 3 points on his right antler) He stumbled out of the corn field and stood broadside for about 2-3 minutes directly in front of me at about 40 yards, looking like he was lost. All he needed was a dunce cap. He strolled off to my left and I let him walk of course . . .
  11. Awesome! Never knew that but then again I usually fill my tags during the regular season.
  12. Ok so if I understand this correctly then i can use my regular season antlered tag (assuming I don't fill it by 12/11) to take with my bow either a deer with antlers or one without during the week of 12/12 to 12/20 AND I can also use my bow tag (which I did not fill during early bow) and take another one with or without antlers, between 12/12 and 12/20. Is that right?
  13. Yup! Regular season ends 12/11. Late season Bow/MZ starts 12/12 - 20. So actually you can kill a buck on 12/11 and use your regular tag and then on 12/12 if you're lucky enough you can kill another with Bow/MZ.
  14. Looks to me like the deer was shedding??
  15. I'd FedEx some pulled pork to you but I'm afraid it may ooze through the envelope.
  16. Yeah man. I could go for some fresh prosciutto.
  17. Scratch N' Sniff works too! Lol!
  18. Heading up early Saturday morning for second to last weekend. Also planning on going up last weekend for bow. Good luck and stay safe!
  19. I'm praying for snow this weekend in my area. Haven't seen much with the corn not being harvested last time I was up. I'm hoping they cut the fields and that big 8 is still walking around being that I no longer have my DMP to use. This is what I'm after - meat first and a wall hanger second:
  20. Here ya go Dom. . . Dinner's on!
  21. Dumb ass hunters. How the hell do you mistake an 800 pound elk for a whitetail deer????
  22. Sorry misread the story. Even so, the City could have levied against the house and if it wasn't paid the City could have taken the house away. Screamon, I agree with you - work hard, pay your bills, and be self sufficient. But first responders are "first responders" for a reason - to protect life and property in emergency situations and then deal with the administrative BS later.
  23. I make my own rub with different spices. Rub it on the pork. Then I slow cook it for about 6 hrs on high in sliced onions and filtered water. Then for the last hour I shred the pork and then put it back into the slow cooker with Sweet Baby Rays original BBQ sauce. Really tastes good!
