  1. I was looking at the pictures on the NY Antler Outdoor site from the youth weekend.. there are at least a half dozen pictures where the muzzle of the gun is in a "very bad" position (like pointing directly at the youth hunters)... there is no excuse for this. Good gun safety and knowing where the muzzle is pointed at all times is the first thing that these youths should be taught.. Sorry for the rant, but one mistake is all it takes... http://www.nyantler-outdoors.com/2017-nys-youth-hunt.html#gallery[pageGallery]/0/
  2. Goat Tuff... In my opinion it does not get any better.. It is not cheap but you use a fraction of what you would normally use.... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Goat-Tuff-Adhesive-Glue/745496.uts?productVariantId=1614802&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=BingPLA&WT.z_mc_id1=40004953&rid=20&gclid=CMGqq9H95dYCFU54fgodbykKzg&gclsrc=ds
  3. I would take that "Optimal Shot" all day every day... they will not go far hitting them there.... Take out both lungs and they usually do not go far at all...
  4. Welcome.. just curious the type of sculpting you do.. for any pics to share?
  5. In my opinion and the thing that really bothers me is that it is easy to pick up a new bow and "hit the kill zone" consistently.. it is a whole different thing to make a quality shot on a deer.. there are nerves, shot angle and many other factors that come into play.. year round practice and muscle memory are what increase your chances of success when the moment of truth comes... i have been at this long enough and have had enough successes and failures to understand what it takes to get things done and it is more than a few hours or days of preparation.. In the end it is all about consistency and repetition..
  6. It depends on the surrounding terrain and cover.. I have a couple stands that are in pine trees in thick cover that are probably 13 or 14 feet and are plenty high for that situation.. Others are 20 feet in more open hilly terrain
  7. We own 3 subarus.. My wife drives the Outback and says she will never buy another car... I am always amazed at how much we can get in it with the seats folded down.. Her mom has an outback and my mom drives a Forrester.. everyone likes them and they are safe!
  8. I have a Nikon 3-9x40 scope with BDC Reticle.. looks and works like new.. On a gun that was used lightly for a couple years. On Sale at Cabela's right now for $150, plus tax ($162).. will take $90.. Prefer local, but will ship at buyers cost.
  9. For me it was worth the piece of mind to know I had a place to hunt and was not going to lose permission (which happened at 3 different parcels in 2 years). I was luck to find a seller willing to finance at a very reasonable rate and only 10% down. I also was fortunate to by at a god time and the land has probably doubled in value over the past 13+ years.
  10. just curious, who did the mounts for you?
  11. I agree with the Vortex comments... The more of their products I buy, the more satisfied I am.. Hard too beat for the money
  12. A well maintained tractor will last a long time.. I would favor a little older tractor with more horsepower.. A BX or 1025 will get some work done, but I can guarantee you will appreciate the additional horsepower and capability associated with a 30 or 35hp tractor.
  13. ... and I am getting some whoppers as well... Seems like every year they are getting a little bigger
  14. boy.. look how big he is thru the shoulders and neck!!
  15. WOW!!! Love those long brow tines!!!
  16. cheap insurance in my opinion, but we all have the things we like and do and everyone does things a bit different..
  17. with good form, your left arm should not be locked, but maintain a bend and your hand should basically be positioned like you were going to shake someone's hand.. If you do that, you forearm will always be clear of the string.. BTW, do you wear and arm guard? you should get used to it because you always want one on to hold back your clothing/jacket.
  18. I just ordered a Barnett Ghost 360 packages off of Ebay.. Wasn't going to buy one and then saw this for $350 (including shipping) and decided what the heck.. The reviews were really good. I am curious to hear how you like yours...
  19. I will speak from experience and tell you that you never want to "adjust as you go"... Things happen fast out there and you will not want to have to adjust things before getting ready for a shot.. Just practice a lot with one pin... hold a little low if less than 20 yards and a little high if greater.. You will figure it out..
  20. it collapses for easy in and out... it is dead quiet... can leave it in the rain and does not stay wet or get ruined.. idk.. personal preference.. I have 2 and love them.. no regret...
