How many shots are expected out of a crossbow before replacing the string and cable ?

Going to head to Geneseo is a short while and meet up with my youngest son around 5:45 . Looks mighty cold - below freezing . Even if I could draw my bow , I don't think I could do it with a heavy jacket on . So , crossbow , it is ..........

That's a scary thing to happen . I had a string break on one of my compounds . Luckily it didn't ruin the limbs .

I would guess that because the crossbow shoots faster the regular mechanicals might deploy prematurely .

I have had to Jump Start my battery on my Honda Rancher 420 about 4 times in the past two weeks . I thought the hard starting might have been a fouled spark plug . After having it not start when I was hunting yesterday I decided it was time to replace the battery . it was the original battery and was 9 years old . Bought an Interstate battery to replace the YUASA battery . Only got 9 years out of that battery .

You can get a duplicate "Back Tag" at no cost . I have gotten a duplicate for the past 5 years . One tag for the backpack and one for the jacket I am wearing . If you lose your other tags , it costs to have them duplicated . I carry my tags in a holder in my backpack .

Went to Geneseo with my oldest son yesterday . Drove my ATV to my elevated stand at the pond . Was in the stand by 6 am . Sat back and relaxed . It was a bit breezy . My son was in the woods about 500 yards away as the crow flies . All he saw was a small 4 point . He stayed there until 11:30 and went back to his truck as he brought a stand to set up for gun season . I hadn't seen anything and got down at noon . The damn ATV wouldn't start . I had to walk 1/2 mile to my car and get my Jump Starter . The ground was ankle deep in water and squishy so it was difficult walking for me as I still havn't gotten my strength and balance back . On the way , I had to duck under an electric fence and didn't quite get low enough . Spooked a fawn and was surprised that it was a small spotted fawn . Got the Jump Starter and headed back but grabbed one of my Treking Poles to help the return walk back to the pond . Before hooking up the Jump Starter I gave it another try . Didn't sound good but on the 2nd try , it started . Damn , it started . All that walking and I was whipped . Stopped at a ATV Dealer in Ontario today and bought an Interstate Battery . I had bought a 2008 Honda 420 Rancher new in 2009 and had the original battery (YUASA battery) . It only lasted for 9 years of usage .

I cannot fathom anyone buying 8 tons of corn to bait with . Doesn't make sense ! A ton of corn runs about $150 per ton which would make the 8 tons price $1200 . That's pretty pricey baiting !

This is the buck with the goofy rack that I mentioned above . Got him on a couple of my trail cams .

Call police again . Offer to give them some Dunkin Donuts Gift Cards . Maybe that will get them to show up .

I don't remember what the hours were . I started deer hunting in 1965 when my father in law asked me to hunt with him .

Finally got out thanks to my two sons that hunt . Not steady enough to go it alone . Arrived at the Geneseo property at 5:30 . Put my gear on the ATV and drove down to the elevated hub blind at the pond . Saw a doe in the cut corn field at 7:05 . She was about 150 yards away . It was cold and when the sun came out the frost on the ceiling of the blind melted and started dripping where the ceiling panel and wall meets . Real quiet for several hours . Around 2pm , I saw a small buck with a goofy rack come out of the thickets and go Wast . Then 2 doe ran from that area into the thickets . They came back out within 5 minutes and went West . About 15 minutes later 2 more doe left the thickets and went West . Around 3 pm another buck left the thickets and went in the same direction . Everything was at least 100 yards away . Since I don't have the crossbow sighted in for that distance , I never took a shot . My youngest son saw two coyotes early in the morning but too much small stuff in the way to take a shot . None of us got a shot but at least we saw some deer .

Neat idea but I have cable locks on all my cameras ever since one disappeared . On another note ,, after watching the OPs video , another came up with game camera tips . The guy placed a game camera over looking a mineral block with corn dumped over it . Thought that was funny . Don't try it !
