  1. What's the most "worthless" hunting / sports tool you have ever bought ? For me , it was the "Air Skinner" . It's a device that you stick in a deer's hide and fasten it to an air compressor . The air loosens the hide from the muscle . The videos showing the use make it look like a great tool . The problem I had was as soon as it loosens the hide and finds the opening from field dressing , that's it . It will loosen the hide a bit but it was a total waste of money . http://www.airskinner.com/air-skinner-in-action/
  2. Oh C'mon . Fletch had a birthday last year about the same time ........ Happy Birthday Fletch !
  3. Tried to beat the rain so I didn't get to pull all the cards from Cameras that I have in Walworth . Got my 1st fawn . I think there is a raccoon problem .
  4. I made one that I had used for a few years . I bought some camo burlap and a few of the black plastic fencepost stakes that have the pointed metal end . It worked okay and probably cost me about $20 in materials .
  5. I bought mine when they let us old guys buy them for $50 . All I had to purchase was Bow & ML . Doe tags were free . When I turned 70 , the Bow & ML were free also .
  6. Nick , my youngest son , Is the one I helped . He didn't ask me . I just knew that with buying his 1st home that he was overwhelmed with work that had to be done before moving into the house . The gutters were something that I could handle while he did other necessary chores . The shingles had been replaced a little over a year ago and the gutter should have been cleaned or replaced at that time . They were loaded with grit from the previous roof . If I needed help doing something at home , Nick would be the one I could call on to help . I got more satisfaction out of helping him than going to dinner . It was a good Father's Day .
  7. Forgot to mention that my son had taken the insulation off of the walls in the basement as there was a water problem . In my brilliance I said I could haul it home and see what I could do to get rid of it . He rolled it up and I strapped it down in my trailer . As I was going up Egypt Valley road and then across Co Rd 32 I could see flakes of the insulation blowing away . When I got to the Sunoco Station at Rt 64 , I pulled in , got out a small tarp and covered the insulation up as best I could and then lashed it down again . I had to tie off the grommets at spots so the tarp wouldn't blow back from the wind resistance . And then as I was doing this the skies opened up and there was a downpour . I got my butt soaked but I longer had to worry about littering the highway and chancing on a ticket . It wasn't quite an awesome Father's Day but I was glad I was able to help with my son's 1st house .
  8. Two of my kids had invited me to dinner but had to take rain dates . I had already told my youngest son that I would come down and help out with the home that he and his wife bought down near Honeoye . I spent several hours up and down a ladder cleaning the gutters out . They were loaded with crap . After I got most of the junk out , I cleaned the shingle grit with my old wet-dry Sears Vaccuum cleaner . I had that fastened to the ladder and dropped it from at least 10 feet and it still kept working . I refinished and stained a 70 year old picnic table and benches and took them down to the property . So , I got a pretty good workout and I am tired !
  9. It is my understanding that the people that do the SNOPES write-ups are Liberals ........ http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/hank/081127
  10. Melon works quite well in a Have a Heart trap ........
  11. Oh yeah , I thought I might catch a Sheriff Deputy or Trooper to ask but when I went by Dunkin' Donuts , none were there .
  12. I asked at two places today . The manager at TSC said it's illegal because they cause injury in parking lots when people bang their shins on them and he also said that extra damage is done when someone tail ends you . I figured that's why I kept mine on to prevent damage to my vehicle . The second person I asked is a mechanic and tow truck driver . He also said the hitches are illegal if you aren't hauling anything and that when they go camping , the guy at the gate makes them remove the hitch if they aren't towing anything . He also said that some counties in Pennsylvania , the cops will stop you if you have the Nads hanging from the back of the truck and you pay a $45 fine .
  13. I agree . I think a person would have to be a real Gomer to hang those from a hitch . No offence meant Pygmy . j/k
  14. Someone told me this but I never heard of anyone getting a ticket for leaving their hitch on . Don't see why it would be illegal . ????
  15. So , what caused the switch to melt ?
  16. I don't care who you are .... that's funny ! ( Larry the Cable Guy )
  17. Several years ago I sighted in a young friend's shotgun at our range . I used Federal rifle slugs in a rifled barrel which I had always done in my 12 gauge . My friend's 12 gauge had a smooth bore barrel . I took the youngster to the range ( Ontario Gun Club ) . He was scattering rounds all over the target at 50 yards . A guy was standing behind up watching and asked what brand ammo he was shooting and I said Federal .The guy said some shotguns don't like certain ammo and he should try Remington . I asked Jeff to swap places and let me take a shot . I then asked Jeff where I had hit . He said , almost center bullseye . The guy left . From watching my friend shoot , I surmised that he was FLINCHING and that it wasn't an "ammo problem" . I suggested that he buy a couple Snap Caps and practice aiming and squeezing the trigger . Took him hunting a few times . He has killed several deer over the years .
  18. Great videos . Looks like most of the action was on the camera side of the Posted Area .
  19. Not sure what it is .............
  20. Happy Birthday CulverCreek ! Have a great day .....
  21. I believe he is still around . I remember going to a 5K race many years ago in Geneseo . His band played before the race and did a great job purposely marching out of step .Buzzo marched in a bathrobe and slippers . Havn't seen any of his Buzzo commercials in years ! The Bear fountain has been hit 3 times in the past year . It has been there since the 1880's .
