Because the problem is not "GUNS" and Banning Guns, the problem is no enforcement of the many gun laws already on the books. Banning AR rifles will not do one thing when it comes to crime! There were 20 illegal gun violations arrests in Syracuse recently all offenders were released and four of the same offenders were picked up for gun offenses again. The laws are a joke! And as for me I will be harsh, it is so called sportsmen like you that are the problem going along with the Democrats! Al

I have used Mcarbo springs on a couple of my firearms and they have performed well, but I can say the same for both Wolf and Wilson combat too. Al

You may think the pro gun crowd is fear mongering but take it from someone who was around in 1968 and was around when AR rifles were banned once before, if you want to stick your head in the sand so be it but I can assure you there is no fear mongering! They have done it before and are trying hard to do it again and I take them at their word! We do not have a gun law problem we have a gun law and "law period" enforcement problem, enforce the damned laws to a T lock the scumbag offenders up and throw away the key. One thing I can say for Biden he had the first crime law bill right and if anything it should have been strengthened! This country has gone off the rails when it comes to law enforcement! Al

And in a nutshell there is the problem, there is nothing that pisses someone off more than being punished for something that they had absolutely nothing to do with. The reality is that vast majority of shootings occur with handguns and the the anti gunners know this fact well and keep them on the back burner. They figure the ARs are an easier target to get banned or controlled with the public because of their menacing look. Have no fear they will go after the handguns shortly if the Democrats get their way knocking off the ARs. Al

Whether you know it or not Rob our activities represented well on this forum are all interconnected in some way and every single one is under attack by some anti group. As soon as one thing gets picked off you can be assured that they will move on to pick off something else. When it comes to the outdoor sports and the excuse that because it does not affect me I am letting it slide is about as lame as it gets. As Ben Franklin put so well "hang together or hang separately" is something I have followed my whole life. I will fight hard for all even if I do not participate in all, be it for trapping, hunting fishing, shooting, ammo etc. etc. etc. Al

So now a member has to have a certain number of posts to have them considered to be valid by the board police, you need to get a life yourself fry cook! Al

I have belonged to three message boards that went poof and it was all because of garbage similar to what is posted in this thread and others threads like it which seems to be constant here. Message boards with long longevity are run like a tight ship. Al

I am the exact opposite, rules are not made to be broken, they are made to be followed. If you can not behave then you should be canned no excuses. All this baloney would stop in a hurry! You have a pattern here, every time one of these fiascos pops up you will have exactly the same members always involved. These are members who seem to think their self believed importance makes them untouchable, also this is the only board I have ever been involved with that allows "TROLLS" whose sole purpose of being a member of this board is to stir the pot. From where I sit this board's content has been going down hill, there are some days where there is not one single hunting related post made. Al

It is not up to the moderators to make the board's rules it is the board owner's job to set the parameters for standards and rules, the moderator's job is to enforce them. From what I have seen you did a very good job Eddie. Al

Hey you are gaining on me young fella, have a good one! Al

Gun Control Bill Headed To The Senate
airedale replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Hell they can not or will not even disarm the thugs in Chicago whose every firearm they possess is illegal, good luck on the confiscation the millions and millions of guns throughout the country, it will not end well for all involved! Al -
I was and am a fan. "Marvelous" one of the all time pro boxing greats period and the best middleweight of all time in my opinion. He always attended the International Boxing Hall Of Fame weekend and was in the annual parades. I purchased a couple of fund raising raffle tickets one year and won a 20X16 autographed poster that hangs on a door in my gun room. RIP Marvin.

That excuse is a year ago and water under the bridge, while it may have started with that scenario the current shortage is due to Democrat gun policies and laws which they are trying to push through as I speak and which they will continue to do as long as they are in positions of power. Mark my words this ammo problem is going to continue long after covid is gone so long as there are Democrats holding power. Al

When it comes to money this is unfortunately human nature, they do not give way money out of the kindness of their heart, nobody is going to sell a box of ammo for $20 when they can get $100. As for the big box stores I have heard that employees can get first crack at buying any ammo that comes into inventory which they are doing and in turn reselling easily doubling and tripling their money. Until the Democrats whose non stop threats of controls are voted out this is going to continue. Al

Norma powders have a very good reputation in the reloading community. I am not an expert on Norma powders but I have had extensive experience with Norma MRP and have nothing but good to say about it. MRP would not be suitable for the cartridges you have listed. Below is some data from Norma and I am sure some internet searches will provide you with more especially reloading sites. Looks like 201 is the powder for 223 but 202 looks like it should do well also. As for finding 30 m1 dies a quick search showed several sets for sale on ebay, do not be afraid to buy used as long as the dies were taken care of and are not rusty, I have yet to see a hand loader come close to wearing out a set of loading dies. Third Annual Bone Creek Rendezvous show and tell
airedale replied to dinorocks's topic in General Chit Chat
I like doing stuff like that but for me February is too early in the year, I can not leave the farm until at least early spring when I am sure there will be no more snow as the wife would not be able to handle chores around here. Al -
There were few things that would get me more excited than seeing those first spring Woodchucks emerging and standing up in their fields of melting snow. I would spend the winter handloading precision ammunition for my battery of varmint rifles and fine tuning them for accuracy getting ready for the upcoming hunts. Sadly there are not many Woodchucks around these days. Al

Started out learning to shoot a bow with a glove over 50 years ago and am still using gloves. I tried a tab several times and while for target shooting I may group ever so slightly better I prefer the security of a quality glove for hunting so I stick with what I am comfortable and confident with. A hunter from Norway also uses his Airedale for game recovery, he never did say what species of Deer he had taken in the photo and I can not tell what it is myself. Al

Hi Brooke and welcome to the board, your tie in to the thread is interesting to say the least. I came across this article a couple of years ago, it was written some time before by The Utica OD's outdoor writer John Pitarresi who did outdoor hunting and fishing articles for the newspaper for many years. I do not have any of the above paraphernalia myself. A place you may find such things is on ebay. Al
