  1. Toms Taxidermist on Route 209 in Warwasing, NY (spelling?)
  2. Picked up my buck from taxidermist this past weekend.
  3. I'm in 4f, seen lots of does, fawns and young bucks....nothing that tickled my fancy..
  4. Looks like a 20% chance of rain by me for Sat. and Sun., will be a bit on the nippy side....lows in the 30's and highs in the 50's....Time to spark up that wood burning stove....Ahhhhh...cant wait..
  5. Is everyone ready for the bow opener? I'm heading up in the am to get ready, now only if the weather will be nice? Just want to wish all you guys/gals the best of luck and be sure to post pictures of your success. Enjoy and be safe.
  6. be heading up to camp early tommorrow morning...need to make a stop on the way up at the taxidermist to pick up my buck from last season...then heading up to camp to get ready..Just want to wish everyone Good luck and be safe out there...Have lots of fun...
  7. Growalot...that is one neat treehouse, think I would sleep in that as well if I had that setup, it looks very roomy and comfy...Goodluck.... I'm hoping to be in stand 1/2 hr. before sunrise, about 6:30ish.
  8. The night before.......I have not been able to sleep all week....lol good luck to all.
  9. I'm rearing to go....same as you before sunrise I seem to relive past hunts....The only problem I have is that my walk to stand is a long one in the dark...but it would not be bad if it werent for flushing grouse....nothing more makes you crap your pants then a flushing grouse a few feet from you in the pitch black....
  10. One pin only...bow shoots flat out to 25 yards and that the furthest I would shoot at a deer in the woods...
  11. Just an FYI, the ground hog radish can be purchased at your local agway. Theres no need to go to a company and pay higher prices for a fancy bag only to get the same seed.
  12. Geno, how far from the island are you willing to travel? I may have mentioned this to you in the past, but a good local realtor where I found my land was Country Boy Realty has some great properties and prices are competitive. I think you will learn that some realtors are showing realistic prices per acre and others tend to over inflate prices to turn a larger profit. Market prices per acre between different realtors within a same area can be staggering. Start with Country Boy Realty if Deleware and Otsego counties are in your search area.
  13. On weekends Steve, not every weekend. Sometimes we only get a chance to get up there one weekend a month. Like yourself I have aother responsibilities to tend to and I have 4 small children to keep us very busy...lol..My dad is retired so we are fortunate in that he can get up there to mow grass and plots every 2-3 weeks or so during the warmer months. No a 3.5 hour trek each weekend would be a killer. However owning your own land is a year round enjoyment for us, not just a place to hunt.
  14. I was actually going to use them this year in my plot, but went with the turnips again. They will work on deer just like a turnips and they have the potential of getting up to 2 feet long, They are great in that the raddish themselves can be utilized by deer through the fall and winter months (just like turnips only Daikons get much larger). Similar to ground hog raddish in that the daikon raddish would also benefit the soil in that it breaks up and aerates your soil. I might give them a try for next fall.
  15. Catskillkid, You hit it right on the head, theres nothing like owning your own piece of land. Like yourself, I have family that invite me to Kansas and Missouri each year. Heck I have a very dear friend that owns 100 acres in kansas as well that I can go anytime for free but I rather much shoot a buck or not get anything and hunt on my NY land. Like yourself we cant wait to get up to our camp on weekends and thats with a 3 1/2 hour trip and my family has been going up to this same area for 50 + years now. We are in Deleware county as well with property down the road in Otsego county.
  16. 4F Delaware and Otsego counties
  17. Thanks, glad you enjoyed them....good luck.
  18. Doc your making it sound like this is your first year shooting a bow with bulky clothes, I would assume this is a thing that all hunters go through each year......I would think that if your form is true the clothes should only be an annoyance and not an accuracy issue. The only issue I see with bulky clothes is if the string slaps againt a loose fitting sleeve. May want to recheck the bow or your form, just a thought.....good luck.
  19. Congrats.Cant believe I will be hunting again real soon.....where did the year go??
