Filled a doe tag last night. 25 yard shot, right through the heart, she went 10 yards and dropped. The freezer is getting full, just about enough room left for a fat 4 -5 year old buck id say

Was out all day yesterday. didnt see a deer until 530pm and it was 2 doe and a decent 8 just sort of slowly walking up to the corn. Very little scraping or chasing by me in 7M

im confused how this is news. those bastards are everywhere -
check out thirshand archery. the stablizer straps tie the top and bottom together and stabalize the top section while your standing

Wind is predominantly SW in most of NY. all my spots are setup for SW with satelite trees close by for other winds (i hunt w a climber)

Its not Oneida county, but G and B meats in North Syracuse isnt too far of a drive. They are awesome, they do sausages, meatballs, jerky, the whole 9. They also have a taxidermy business on the side.

i dont know about you guys, but i perfer a 10ish mph wind for bow season. Anything less than that and i find i have to be very careful where i setup, bc light winds have a tendancy to swirl and sort of sway back and forth. A nice 10mph wind means i only have to worry about by scent in one direction. It also seems to keep your scent in the stand from settling down to the ground. Show me a 12mph headwind and ill be on a ridge waiting for a buck

I've been intentionally saving one of my stateland spots for a SW wind. Cant wait till tommorow morning

Let the real games begin!

Take a look at the NEF single shots. great starter guns
-
i shoot stone mountain strings. serviced and installed by Legends of the Fall in Tully. Honestly i picked them because thats what my shop carries. No complaints though

i saw 3 bucks together this weekend in a little bachelor group. very little if any scraping by me

400-600 yards from a parking lot is alot bigger than some of the places i hunt
-
yea it doesnt matter

a buddy has a 783 and its a nice little gun. though for that price range, check out the savage packages they have at gnder.. that accutrigger is sweet
-
wow. I grew up reading their books.I learned alot from their style of hunting, I still track deer during gun season using alot of their methods.

Couple things he mentioned, some id heard before, some were new 1.) some guys carry a string with them thats 20 inches long, to make sure the tree is proper sized 2.) climbers work best or uniformly round trees, if its mis-shaped or has a big bulge, theres no telling how it will affect it climbing over it 3.)keep an eye on your cables and make sure their loose enough to be able to climb, but not so loose it could slide down.. if the cable gets below the deck of your stand it will not be pretty 4.) stay away from birch and ash especially in the rain There were a few more ill post up when i rememeber

He didnt. I asked him if he wanted me to send it back for inspection and he said they do that in alot of cases, but he could tell what happened in this instance from the pics

Just got off the phone with Bear Kelly from Summit. I sent him some pictures and discussed the situation with him on the phone. Even admitted that it was likely my fault the stand broke. He agreed, and said they would be sending me a brand new Titan in the mail at no cost to me. Not just the broken bottom, but an entire new stand. That is OUTSTANDING customer service in my book. I was expecting to have to argue to get a warranty, but he said no, new stand no cost, and then spent 10 minutes discussing some things i can do to make sure this doesnt happen again. Summit has a customer for life

i use the third hand stabalizer straps as well. they work as an umbliical cord, as straps to pack the stand, and to secure the top portion.
-
never had this problem, but i had a brand new one not light up on sunday
-
im not arguing improper use. it was. i should checked in the dark but i didnt. the tree was the right size but i had the stand on a kindof flattened out section of it so it wasnt getting good enough grip.

the only gear i had was my bow and a gatorade. i leave everything else in the truck for these short morning hunts.. 20#'s under the manufacturers weight limit isnt really pushing it i dont think, as they understate the limit instead of overstate.
