  1. i think what happened was only one or two teeth on the v section of the bottom grabbed in, the tree was kind of oddly shaped. because i didnt get a full grip on the v bar, all the pressue was put on the very edges of the bar causing the bend. The stand is 350#rated, me with all my gear is around 330#.
  2. Jeff @ Legends is the best in the area. I've never had anything but fantastic customer service there.
  3. Thanks guys. Machinist, im hoping for the same kind of response, they seem like a really accommodating company. Im kind of out of commission during the week without the stand. my 2 ladder stands are a hour away, so they are kind of weekend only at this point. I may spray paint up some plywood and make a little blind though in the meantime
  4. Come on, you can always sleep after Christmas!!
  5. i always hunt the thick sh@t
  6. Shot a doe 730am Sunday morning out of my climber. around 8 it had started to rain a little and i figured i better get down and blood trail her, i knew i hit her good but she didnt die in sight. After moving the climber down twice the bottom platform gave right out. I ended up balancing on the climbing bar for an hour and a half until my father could get up and come bail me out with an extension ladder. Little scary, but woulda been alot scarier if i didnt have my harness on. Im working with Summit on a warranty claim/replacement. They seem like great people to deal with thus far. I went right home and thanked my wife for basically forcing me to buy and wear a harness last year. I had never put one on before that. Also, to top off the morning, i didnt need the blood trail, doe was piled up in 60 yards.
  7. cant go wrong either way, both are great choices.
  8. You cant be too early. you can be too late.. Goodluck
  9. Got out last 2 hours last night in the heat. No deer, but did have 2 coyotes chase a fox right under my stand. Tried to get an arrow in one of the yotes but they were on a full run
  10. leave it outside for a day or two. i sprayed my climber a week before the season to cover up some areas where the paint chipped off, and in one afternoon in the backyard ithe smell was gone
  11. if you were on the ground, that arrow could've gone along way. Its not like a treestand when you have a hard downward angle i guarantee its out there on the ground somewhere 50-60 yards out
  12. i just bought a new pair. 28 bucks for the all black version, couldnt beat it. Mine had that rubbe smell, so i wore them out not hunting in the woods a few time. An hour or two walking through the mud and creeks and no rubber smell.
  13. Amen to that, its kinda of the catch 22 to the earlier season. I'll take it over not hunting though. im going out after work again tonight, maybe in shorts
  14. I forgot how much i hate long sits in my old ladder stand. Thankfully i was in my climber all afternoon, i could sit 3 days straight in that thing
  15. 3 different places i hunt, miles apart and all the deer are neglecting the corn for naturally growing clover. This is kind of a PITA to hunt because this stuff is everywhere. You guys seeing this in other parts of the state
  16. Look for real big trees. you'll get used to it
  17. It was hot out. Sat 6-11 this am no deer. Sat 4-7 off a corn field and let a small doe and 5 pointer pass but that was it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
  18. guys remember its a winchester. Hard to mount a scope on those guns.. I have mine setup with a peep sight and the original irons. great brush gun, but not what id consider a long range killer
  19. NICE. i spend a good chunk of my summer up there, havent seen one yet though. yet
  20. the 170's are a good choice, even though they are basically the only choice. the old rounded tip remington 170 grains out of the little .32 has put down a pile of deer at our camps
  21. very nice, what did you use to get the skull cleaned?
  22. they still move, just harder to see them. ive taken some nice deer in heavy fog
  23. I'll be out tommorow morning and nights this week, trying to whack a buck still hitting the corn. Goodluck everyone and be safe
  24. NIce deer. the one in the 2nd pic looks real nice. Goodluck
