  1. Ive taken 5 so far this year. My count through bow season is approximately 200 deer sightings. around 25 buck sightings. They are still there, there just getting smarter.
  2. yeaaa I do this almost everyday on the way into the woods.
  3. I pack my climber always during bow season.. Gun season i might bring it in opening day, but after that im finding a nice blowdown to sit on. The root system usually helps break up my outline so i dont have trouble getting busted. I like to stillhunt during most of gun season so im stop and go all day. I usually find my best bow spots on these still hunts, as you can cover some ground and get a better feel for the woods
  4. Goodluck and stay safe everybody. Looking forward to the pics on Monday am
  5. I dont know about you guys, but my healthcare premiums doubled this year becuase of obamacare, and im not even in the exchanges, i have a private plan. I hope this county wakes up, if you think obama is bad, hillary will be worse
  6. a Red gatorade G2, wintergreen griz and maybe a granola bar
  7. i was always told to judghe rubs by their max height on the tree... Rubs lower to the ground on the tree were generally smaller bucks, and if tyhey rubbed 3-4 feet it was something more substantial. Not an exact science though for sure
  8. Helluva day! Dont sweat the miss, we've literally all done it several times. Take some time in the off season and put your practice in,, better a clean miss than a bad hit. Welcome to the addiction, this forum is our support group
  9. the question for me this year is, would you shoot a doe right smack in the middle of the rut, which is what the opener is shaping up to look like and the answer is no this year. (Easy choice considering i got 3 bow deer but still) you can always pop a doe after thanksgiving when things cool down if you need one
  10. Find his does. He'll be sniffing around them this time of year, thats your best bet
  11. sounds like hes scent checking the scrapes, and not actively freshening them up. Try getting setup 40 yards down wind of the scrapes you might get lucky
  12. This is the salmon river heard mentality. As soon as one guy casts his line, it doesnt matter if its a half hour early, everyone is is like "im goin!!"
  13. When you figure out that sales pitch.. by all means please share your technique. = )
  14. i grew up a gun hunter only. and usually would still hunt or track deer with the gun. Lead to alot of jump shooting deer, and i got pretty good at it. I had big problems when i picked up the bow because i always wanted to snap shoot in the shoulder(where id aim with the gun). Its almost like it wasnt a thought out process but reflex. I've worked really hard to count to three after i draw and keep whispering to myself, low and away, low and away.( because i had a tendency to aim high shoulder). It takes some time, but you can break your old habits. Shooting alot of doe has helped me immensely, because theres no better practice like live target.
  15. Its enough work getting your bow perfectly tuned and sighted in all summer, now we get to sight in our arrows too?
  16. Any ADK buck is unlike any other you'll ever get. Congrats man

    Got 'em!!

Where exactly did you hit him? didnt see a hole
  18. Id say their most likely rutting by you eh? Sucks no shot, but thats still pretty cool to see
  19. I think this rut is going to trickle over pretty good into gun season this year. Your gonna see alot of one day a year hunters getting lucky
  20. If you can find some higher ground in the swamp, where its marginally dry... Theres a good chance the bucks will bed in there.
