We father and uncle used to hunt southern tier NY years ago, and had a similar issue.. There was a woman who lived above land they hunted, and her house was right above the thickest sh#t bedding area you ever saw.. Well she would wake up at 8 or so on Saturday, and see there truck parked down the road. She'd go on her back deck and start banging pots and pans together to scare all the deer.. What she didnt know was the deer bedded right behind her house, like 50-100 yards. All her pot banging and yelling drove the deer out of the thicket, where they were safe, right down the hill 4-500 yards down the hill into the hardwoods, there they were on stand waiting!!!

Havent seen a deer in 3 morning sits this week. Longest i've gone all season without seeing a deer on stand. Would love a nice late October cold front but i dont see it happening this weekend at least. On a positive note, i've been seeing bucks up and on there feet at night, seems like their starting to move a little here, but not what i would call true early rut just yet.. When are you guys hunting seeing movement? May sit a funnel all day saturday to see what's moving mid day

I keep a small pocket knife right on my 20ft up harness for this situation.. i figure if i fall, the harness will keep me from breaking my neck, and once im hanging, bear hug the tree, cut the harness, and slide down it.. havent had to try this yet thankfully

alot of gun shops around me have alot of the older spanish side by sides cheap.. alot of them came over in the 70's and 80's. i have a 20 guaage i use for small game. good lil gun, dont know the manufacturer

id go bottom left corner of the feeding field, and have a stand set north of the bedding area about 75 yds out.. both should be good with a predominate SW wind

This is law now in NY, upstate at least.. You have to get over if safe to do so, if their is a disabled vehicle or an officer with his lights on

Saturday am 7:45 this tight 8 came crashing out of a corn field, and stopped 5 yards from my stand.. Had to shoot him out of self defense. Beautiful morning all around, my buddy i was with got a doe as well.. Gotta love a little Saturday double
