NOt sure where this thread is going but, The only things in life that are certain are death and taxes. i cant help with the first, but tax advantageous investments is what i specialize in if anyone has questions

AT classified, used bows in local shops, or PSE has some great entry level bows, the Brute X is a sweet lil shooter. If you can find a good bow shop they will be an invaluable resource of info for you. If you anywhere near Tully, NY. i recommend Legends of the Fall. They are simply the best.

Can we get another countdown to Oct 1st clock this year?
NYbuck50 replied to NYbuck50's topic in Bow Hunting
Sweet. thanks Deerthug. i had the clock pinned on this site last yr as my home page... Made me happy every morning when i got to work.. Thankfully the steelhead have been keeping my mind occupied this winter, but Oct 1 cant come soon enough -
i bring mine to the shop, because i dont use any nocks on my string and i want to make sure my centershot is properly alligned. If you had a nock on your string, it looks pretty easy
-
I hope they do too but i doubt it.. The ones they've got up here were the russian variety i think. They get a little bit of snow there i think
-
Im sure its easy to do, but im not that computer savy

I used to goto Dicks almost exclusively. Then they wimped out on the AR deal, and Cabelas now will get my annual hunting and fishing dollars.

Anyone shoot an Elite Pure, I'm thinking about it.
NYbuck50 replied to nycredneck's topic in Bow Hunting
Ive been checking out the Elite's too. They seem to be great shooters, and i like the fact their made in Rochester, makes parts or emergency mid season service a quick thruway drive away -
if your going rage go with the 40ke. still at your draw weight, probably better with a good stout fixed blade.
-
Check out TGB lighted nocks.. same as nockturnals, half the price.. Word is they actually light up better(cant confirm though)
-
I used the nockturnals this year and they sucked.. Only lit half the time.

Everyone have a good one.. Im going Steelie fishing the next few days, then off to Aruba for New Years for some scuba and hopefully some 'Cuda fishing. Enjoy and be safe

I was up in Altmar this am for steelies on the fly.. that and Syracuse basketball should keep me occupied until walleye opener in May. I enjoy so much in the outdoors. but nothing even comes close to comparing to bow season. T-286.............. Can we can another countdown clock this year?

Fly-fisherman turned Hunter-new to hunting and to NY
NYbuck50 replied to Dr Ignominious Death's topic in Introductions
Check out Maxwell creek, oswego river, or salmon river this September.. I promise you'll have those fly rods dusted off in no time.. Welcome to NY bud -
Keep me posted as well. My father sold our land 2 seasons ago, we are looking for new property in chenago county

I bow hunt solely out of a climber, which allows me to change my location according to what the deer are doing. I scout hard through gun season and january, and will generally stay out of areas i plan to hunt until opening day. When opening day comes around, i know general areas the deer will be using, but not exact routes. i am constantly fine tuning my stand sites, and about half my time on stand is studying the layout of an area, looking for ways to hunt it tommorow in 1.) in different winds and 2.) better trees for the same wind direction, that put me closer to where the action is at that particular time.

I'll be sitting on the couch watching the bills likely blow a 4th quarter lead, on the bank of the river for steelhead, or scouting for next yrs bow... tags are filled
