  1. You are showing your age...lol. I am sure the younger folks were saying "WTH is he talking about"
  2. I get all the points but let's be real. You aren't "managing" 50 acres with everything he says is happening around him.
  3. what was your involvement in it Dom? I don't recognize you from your screen name.
  4. I just picked up one of these from a member here. An AWESOME crossbow. I'd highly recommend it. The adjustable rear stock for length of pull is a great feature to fine tune your sight picture through the scope. The scope is lit in blue or red. I do not have the attached cocking mechanism and don't miss it. https://www.killercrossbows.com/products/furious-370-frt-2017-version
  5. I've called in a bait station 3 times that is near my work and it is still there after 3 years.
  6. If you were involved in the new poaching legislation you would know it is NOT a possibility. Unfortunately even taking the license away won't work. They have proven they are a criminal and not having a little yellow piece of paper in their pocket won't stop them. I wish the higher fines that were in the original write up for the poaching bill would have stood but the elected officials weren't having it.
  7. You are naive if you think that would ever be a possibility. I know what it took and how watered down it had to change to get the new poaching legislation through. And that was just to raise fines. Dom. What other violations of the law should be changed to felonies?
  8. DEC's determination is that food plots, even if solely for wildlife, is not baiting.
  9. So now we are going to confiscate firearms for less than the required Felony. We will use misdemeanors and violations (which these were) to void a Constitutional freedom? To put this in perspective, basically you are calling for a removal of a Constitutional Right for a speeding ticket or running a stop sign.
  10. Are you getting better at her signature than on previous years? lol
  11. Improper tagging can be not filling a single section out.
  12. Maybe you need to expedite that situation...lol
  13. Barley farmer with 30 acres. Belo, I would take a holding pattern for now. I get the feeling that based on the way you described it he is inexperienced and not very good at hunting. If he doesn't know the nuances his success rate will be low and he may lose interest in the property or the sport as a whole. Problem solved with no conflict. I'd wait to see how next season fairs at it approached. As far as turkey. "I would love to give you permission to turkey hunt on our property but My father has 3 friends that are retired and already hunt it heavily. I think it would be too dangerous since it is so small"
  14. Goonie goo goo. Gus your wife is a hairy tree climbing $itch.
  15. This is our tried and true recipe for sliced jerky. I am sure it could be modified for a shooter in some form or fashion. Venison Jerky For one pound of meat slices 1/8” strips. The more uniform the better results. (I like using a meat slicer if you have one. If not partially frozen meats slices the best. ½ cup of soy sauce ½ cup of Worchester sauce 1 teaspoon of seasoning salt 2 teaspoons of onion powder 2/3 teaspoon of black pepper 2/3 teaspoon of garlic powder ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper ½ teaspoon of liquid smoke (adjust to taste and not required is using a smoker) Mix ingredients well in bowl. Add meat strips and stir well, making sure all meat it coated. Cover bowl and store in refrigerator for 3 days, stirring and mixing once a day. Remove from mixture, drain and pat dry before loading into dehydrator. For hotter mixes we dust with Cayenne pepper after we pat it dry and load it in the dehydrator
  16. I can tolerate the ground jerky but MUCH prefer the sliced jerky. The slicer I have is about $150 and works very well on partially frozen venison. To me the biggest part of getting good jerky (besides the spices) is having very very good thickness control so it is all dehydrated the same. Nothing worse that having one end of a slice rock hard while the other end is still a bit too mushy.
  17. I only know it by travois. I know that’s the French name. Don’t know the Indian name.
  18. I think you are missing this part too. Deer can be taken with ANY centerfire rifle. Just NOT rimfire.
  19. Welcome. I grew up in Herkimer and spent a lot of time hunting Western Montgomery county. I've seen some really good bucks taken in that area over the years.
  20. It happens every year and he doesn't change. We see him head into the field and know it only a matter of minutes. He strolls in slowly and when the deer come by us they are just in the "let me sneak out of here around this guy" mode.
  21. One neighbor next to a property I hunt never walks into his stand before 8 am and he does it right down the middle of his big golden road/. berry bush field. I can't even tell you the number of deer we have shot over the years at about 8:02 AM...lol
