  1. I have had pressure cracks run right through my jigging hole. That right there is the definition of "pucker factor"
  2. when you say "Nov 1-10, the peak of the rut". what are you basing that on? Buck movement?
  3. I'm looking forward to some ice fishing this year. I am a little particular about the ice though. I wanna see 6" of good ice before I venture out. For some reason fish seem to taste better when taken through the ice.
  4. I believe he is talking about the benefits of an uninterrupted breeding cycle that could take place without hunting during the rut. I am not sure that in areas like we have with high doe numbers, stopping gun season would do much at all for letting bucks lake a more complete tending in the first rut. maybe without bucks being shot the numbers would go up
  5. Wouldn’t you have to figure in you actual state income tax as well
  6. I just read an article with a quote from the IRS that hey we’re not going to honor 2018 payments made in 2017
  7. And that is the issue and why states like CA, NY and NJ are going to take the biggest hit on this. Their spending is out of control with higher taxes. They could write them off and it made it easier to swallow but not this will bring those overspending states into the spotlight. I have my fingers crossed that every person that pulled a lever or filled in a dot for Cuomo in the last election have to pay out the a$$. It is a Federal change that is driving this but it isn't the Fed's fault for the results.
  8. Again. You are talking totals. As a percentage of total income NY doesn’t pay an equal share. Because of the deduction of high taxes.
  9. Belo, Have you hit anything with them yet? Friend used them and had terrible terminal performance on the deer. Just like the shockwaves in the ML. tiny holes in and out. I wish Federal still made the Federal premiums with the Barnes expander bullets. I have 7 boxes left and guard them with my life...lol
  10. more tax dollars? you must mean as a total and not as a percentage. The Total NY pays means nothing. look at your exact counterpart in another state that has much lower state and local taxes and doesn't get the write-off. do you or they pay more federal taxes?
  11. Obviously having the rifling will be an advantage and should provide you better accuracy. Despite the comments here there is a marked difference in less drop over the foster slugs. The saboted slug weighs less and will drop less compared to a foster. When selecting a rifled barrel I would strongly suggest that you get on that has a cantilever scope mount. That is the best way to take advantage of the added accuracy, since you are using a scope. Having a scope that is receiver mounted and a movable barrel just won't make the most of the set up.
  12. Staying home as usual. We don't go out on amateur night...lol
  13. yeah if you don't mind sharing, as well has your process. gettign the texture right and not drying them out seems to be a difficult for me.
  14. We have found quite a few uses. The grocery list option is great. "Alexa- add milk and eggs to the grocery list." It is added to the list in the app on your phone. We got a smart thermostat and that is controlled through Echo and can be accessed and controlled through your phone. We also have some electrical switches that are voice controlled for on/ off and dimming. We have a dot and external speaker tied to our echo plus and you can control the music in the house and play the same or different in any room they are located. I'ts been fun and Biz that Dot is like $29. I picked up a dot and a good Sony external speaker for about $80.
  15. Look at the areas that are keeping the numbers up in the time frame you quoted. (2017 actually has a total state net decline). Upstate has a decline in the time frame you are hanging your hat on. That is where the hunters are. Yes there are some (meaning less by percent of population that upstate) in the NY City area and Long Island but the vast hunting population is Upstate. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/news/2017/03/new_york_population_numbers_census_shows_which_counties_are_growing_shrinking.html Then look at the Foreign immigration numbers on here and how many of those are participating in the hunting seasons? http://www.newyorkupstate.com/news/2017/03/new_york_population_numbers_census_shows_which_counties_are_growing_shrinking.html Without the foreign influx into the City it would be a much different number even on a statewide total. Tell what ever story you want but tell the whole story.
  16. Looks great. We do ours on Daytona 500 weekend. What are you doing for the hotdogs?
  17. I take it you have metal boxes? when you say they are grounded to the wall box. The grounds are also attached to each other and continuous back to the panel box, right? I have seen bad GFCI outlets before.
  18. I think there has been a cultural shift that has influenced how we perceive participation. the days of the big hunting groups are gone. The days of the big deer drives are about gone. Having fewer guys in a group opens smaller parcels of private land that will fit the hunting needs. Couple that with the sale and break up of so many large parcels of private land and I can see how the long lines of tail lights headed up to state land on opening weekend disappeared. There has been a BIG shift in hunting styles. This is allowed by the technology advances. Treestand, high tech clothing that allows hunters to sit all day. I can remember struggling to stay warm enough to stay on watch for a few hours. That forced movement, bumping deer and more shooting. This year I didn't hear a single 5 shot volley .
  19. Like shown in the left portion of the diagram. If you are powering from the Line side you need them on each outlet. If you are powering from the load side it isn't required by code but the AHJ may interpret it that way. (wrong in my opinion) If you are set on having two GFCI outlets then wire them off the line side (like the left portion of the pic) and you will have less issues.
  20. just wondering why you would do that? if you had the outlet first in line protected by a GFCi the second would be protected as well.
