Good caliber for bear
Culvercreek hunt club replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
The outfitter is more concerned with rounds that are "too fast" since most of the stands will be close range. I guess worried about the pin hole in and pin hole out issue before the bullet can expand and disperse the energy. That bear fat is worse than a deer. like thick Vaseline. and what blood does make it out is soaked up fast by the thick coat. So their opinion is a big moderately fast bullet that dumps energy fast. That said the bears I've shot with my -06 165gr sierra game king bullets were from 40-70 yards. None went over 30 yards and all had great blood. two were in the boiler room broad side and one quartering to through the shoulder(that one never took a step) -
For fall of 2017 the threshold is 100K up to 125k in 2019. There is minimum GPA requirements to be maintained but ABSOLUTELY NO RESTRICTION ON THE CURRICULUM. (Insert favorite nonsense degree/program here like female middle eastern studies). Then the graduate must remain in the wonderful job market of NY for 4 years beyond graduation. if the GPA or after graduation requirements are not met the grant will be deemed as a loan and must be paid back. I haven't seen at what interest rate and have not seen any requirements to actually work in the field of the degree after graduation.

I guess everyone has horror stories. The last Ford F150 I had. in first 25k miles had rear end issue. rebuild with King pinion and bearings. Then vacuum pump and 4 vacuum hubs up front. Evap codes that started at 45k and never could find the issue (in to dealer 4 times and I finally just kept clearign it and getting it inspected before it popped again...lol). blew a 2 plug out of the aluminum head and that ended up being a heicoil fix. The Ford F150 I had prior to that was bullet proof for the 150,000 I had it.

With the American made comments in the thread, thought I would share a few numbers. The AALA is just true NORTH American made content. (The Ford would go down if mexico and Canada were removed.). The KOGOD takes into consideration $$ in America from R&D, Assembly, profit margins and factors in where the profits actually go. AALA % KOGOD% Ford F150 70 85 Toyota Tundra 65 73.5 Chevy Silverado 45 72.5 Dodge Ram1500 59 59.5 Nissan Titan 10 59

Growing up in the Mohawk Valley and in close proximity to Utica it is impossible to find a good Tomato Pie out here. I swing by Roma's in Washington Mills or the one in Utica on Bleecker street. Best there is. never seen a good home recipe that comes close. -
Did you get a promotion to "post police"?

Might want to consider adding a nylon web hammock seat and using the paddle pusher style ankle fins. might help in the short local deep water crossings.

I am on a private group Facebook page for Encores. They have been posting quite a few loads and it seems to be a very popular barrel. They have been running anywhere from 16.5 to 20" on cut down barrels and have been posting very good success on medium game like Whitetail and hogs. It wasn't on my immediate "gotta get" list so I didn't pay that close of attention to the bullets in the recipes. I'll see what they have been using. -
