  1. Well when we start seeing a new deduction coming out of your check as early as July 1st. you can thank Andy for it. .126% of you wage but not to exceed $1.65 a week. They are all set to collect i but haven't yet figured out how people will be able to apply for the paid leave...lol
  2. 52. I normally tell folks I am 62 because they say I look great for 62. I look like crap for 52. lol Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes.
  3. One of the best shooting smooth bores I had was a 12 gauge pump that was a fixed modified choke. I think it was made by Smith and Wesson for Montgomery Wards. The thing just rattled from the wear when it was given to me.
  4. It's been done for years in smooth bores with rifled slugs.
  5. I've shot a 375 H&H, 416 Rigby 300 Win mag all in bolt guns. I grew up slug hunting and using a 12 gauge with 2-3/4 and 3" slugs. They all paled in comparison the the only gun that ever numbed my arm for hours. My brother in law had a 10 gauge H&R single shot. He bought slugs for it and we sighted it in. I would opt for a spear over shooting that thing again. that gauge is bad enough but add a slug through a full choke and wow.
  6. I don't care that it was directed at Trump. The language of what was said has no place on the public TV in my opinion. Another example of the moral slide in this country.
  7. The only word of caution I have is that the regulations are NOT all inclusive. They are what they feel is pertinent. The full text, ENCON law sections may expand on this more.
  8. You listed the exact draw backs of why I switched from it. The positives I saw were they were accurate to use, were size specific and didn't' get that Pinch that can happen with a true wrist release.
  9. Let's talk. I have done it in two boats like that and it sin't difficult. The trick is getting it in and not adding crazy weight.
  10. I have an email account just for dealing with buying or selling with folks I don't know. Once I determine they are legit I ask for their phone number.
  11. I use to use a free flight and liked the release. Nice part is that "gloves" come in different sizes and an extra small or small would easily help a youth out with having the trigger in the proper position. http://www.winnarchery.com/
  12. I've tried fingers just for giggles on the newer short Axle to axle compounds. It isn't any fun. Really compresses the fingers together.
  13. Have any of you seen the CSA: The Confederate States of America? Pretty interesting show. The problem i see with many of these conversations and even actions (like removing the monuments and assessing motives of the past) is we are viewing them through today's glasses. Society, morals, values and priorities change. I don't see a monument to Lee as a statement that the ideals he fought for should be in today's society. He was a amazing General but held a deeper love for Virginia that he did the Union. That was not uncommon in the earlier days of our country. It was prevalent in the Revolutionary war era and has seemed to fall off as the clock ticked. I just seem to view them as historical.
  14. It was a good time. Got there a bit late but was great meeting everyone. Funny how some folks don't look or sound like the pictures I had in my head.
  15. Wooly. Outstanding work as always but I have one complaint. All that beautiful artwork, and your stuff is art, and you go an put a synthetic cord wrapping on the knives? lol. Come on man. bust out some leather cordage.
  16. Well watch the attendance numbers fall off now..lol
  17. I think you are missing the biggest reason that the youth seasons are early (in my mind anyway). What is the true point of a youth season? Outreach to get kids in the sport and the woods that may not have been able to? I believe this increases the likelihood that a mentor will take a kid out when it doesn't take away from their season. It also focuses the outing on the kids without distractions of their own hunt. Seems like a pretty selfless group in here based on the stories I hear about people taking kids out. I am not so sure the majority of folks are like that. So this season increases the chances that kids will get out, get hooked and buy licenses. I think that is driving force and not the making it easier point
  18. Fishing the West Canada crick? Now that is my old stomping grounds
  19. You are wrong on that point. You still CAN have ammo shipped here. There are dealers that have chosen NOT to ship here becasue of the SAFE Act but check out the dealers in this thread. It is usually kept pretty current but start with the most recent and work your way back. http://nyfirearms.com/forums/ammunition-reloading/68332-official-still-shipping-ny-thread.html
  20. A word of caution Doc. I saw this happen one time. Don't under estimate how much force and weight a tree like that can have if it starts in the wrong direction. I watched a buddy take quite the ride on his wheeler in the wrong direction when he was attached to a falling tree. Also. do you have enough rope to tie a bowline knot around the pull line after you send the rope through the crotch of the tree. I'd rather see a positive attachment rather than a steel rod. less likely to slip. How big around is this tree?
