I really just used dried dirt and peat moss last year but I can't say enough about waxed dirt. It's made it an ease to set in bad weather and maintain the sets during a freeze. We are actually using waxed contractor's sand. it's pre-sifted and once waxed is pretty dart so blending is a breeze.

Stay safe and warm and enjoy your time. Thank you for all you do to help the sportsmen and women. -
Well they say if a location is good enough for one trap it’s good enough for two. Set these in a field edge at a logging road entrance. Flat compass set in the background and a pipe dream set in the foreground. First double at a set we picked up.

I have 150 remington core lokt I'd kick in for Moog on the trade. Brian, I think I have 22-250 dies if we can come up with the brass. I'll check when I get home. -
Well it's been a bit of a dry spell and the snow and blowing on the hill last week certainly didn't help the sets we had out. We had been using waxed dirt for the sets but had to revisit the dozen we had up there. Put another 11 out on new locations on the property end of last week and on the check this morning we were able to double on 2 nice reds. haven't been seeing the coyote movement that had shown on the cameras in the earlier season but we are on good location so hopefully we'll be ready when they make their return.

are you fleshing and boarding the furs? -
Thank you everyone that participated and supported the organization. Good news and bad news. Bad new is I didn't win squat again...lol Good news is I know of 3 that won from the tickets I had in hand and I know on online was from last year's Field to Fork program again. Must be participating in that program makes you a lucky charm...except for gettign a deer this year...lol. 2 misses and 2 blown opportunities with no shots. Should be 4 for 6 right now but currently we are zero for 6. Hopefully this weekend changes that.

worked with the turkey so what could possibly go wrong.
-
AND....the third turkey that stumbled into a set. Love the offset jaws and I can't say enough about using enough swivels. Released unharmed. Incidentals are something you have to deal with but try to minimize with how you set and adjust your traps. Awful lot of feet in that flock so I'm not surprised we had a catch. Learned quite a bit about releasing over this and last season. Now we just need more coyotes to cooperate.

Couple fox catches on a new property that me and my partner are trapping. He's made all the sets and checks so far down there since I was away at camp. Love the tall black socks on the one.
-
cry...lol. Deer pull right out becasue of their foot size and construction. I can't believe a #2 would hold a bear. just too much strength. But if it did, I'd call the DEC.
-
My cousin lives down in the 6R/6S area and he had some fisher on trail cams. I filed and got my permit and while down at camp I ran to his place and tossed up 5 pole sets with body gripping traps. He called me on the last night and said I had a catch he noticed while walking out of the woods. Made the inconvenient trip and checks worth it to get my first fisher. Female, will probably tan and keep this one. No one forgets their "first" ..lol It's frozen becasue I was debating a mount, but I will thaw, skin and get it down to the DEC to get it sealed. Then off the the tanner. set was Venison bait with Hellfire long distance call. Covered with spruce boughs.

Well guys. I am gonna need some help with this release....lol. Pic 1 is coming by the set, pic 2 is nose right in the dirt hole, pic 3 is the set off and the miss/pullout. no hair on trap so I believe it probably just pushed his foot up but I think it sure got his attention.

Try these. Fender washers and soda bottle tops. Keep the rain and mice out very well. Coons just pop them right off and chow down

Good Luck to All on the Southern Zone Firearm Opener
Culvercreek hunt club replied to OldBrian's topic in Deer Hunting
Good luck all. Be out with my Field to Fork mentee tomorrow. Fingers crossed -
I've got a band new HOWA in 308...all bore sighted and ready to role into the woods for the opener. Just kidding but I am certain there are a few out there. I do have a new Howa but will be carrying my Remington 700 BDL in ought 6. I'll have my Field to Fork hunter with me all weekend so what I am carryign really doesn't mean anything unless he needs backup. Good luck everyone.

Well boy am I disappointed. I opened this expecting pictures of the recipe as well...lol. I'm gonna have to try this.

Ok you white collar firm guys , I need help !
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Nomad's topic in General Chit Chat
My view is the firm should have put their best foot forward. If she is worth more know she was worth more when they made the offer. She should stand by her word and that is the way she should respond to the firm that recontacted her. "I accepted and gave my word on the agreement. I would have given your company the same commitment"
