I have the front loaders as well. Same process but I run a quick wash cycle with hot water and a bit of the scent free soap on an empty washer before I load them up.
-
You would be wrong. I have hunted behind several very good labs as upland game flushing dogs. They are not just retrievers

Who brings handgun Deer hunting?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to fadetoblack188's topic in Deer Hunting
yes. .357. because I can...lol seriously though. I took two deer last year with my 308 pistol and I hope to get one inside 20 yards and i will give the 357 a whirl. And it is cheaper to finish one if I have to. -
The first time I walked intoteh deer woods with my Father I was 8. That was 40 years ago. I have been there every season since. I hear shooting. The land we lease boarders about 2000+ acres of State land but the shooting is nothing like it used to be. I can remember years ago you felt like your head was on a swivel looking to teh sounds of the shots around you. I can remember state land and there were deer running every which way all day. Opening day. and then it turned into a desert. After opening weekend I take a ride around the block when we head out for water and groceries and the state land usually doesn't have any cars parked there.

Just did 14 pints of venison and bear last night. I bought the 21 quart American. I saw one at Walmart for like $80 but it is smaller and not as heavy. Didn't appear to have as many bells and whistles

i think they recommend a year. I have had it after two and it was awesome

Confronted a trespasser yesterday.

+1- Face to Face is the best option. we see it here in the forum enough. You can't read the infletioin in a persons voice in the written word. The true meaning can get blurred. Talk to him after you clarify what the landowner really wants. I have seen guys lose hunting right becasue they over estimated their worth to a landowner. -
Probably the same crap they are making sinkers out of now. Never considered that but I have noticed the size of the weights seem bigger than they use to.

Reloading cost vs store bought ammo
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Doewhacker's topic in Reloading
The turret press he bought is not a shotgun reloading press. It only does rifle and pistol cartiges. -
I have got the last two sets from Tirerack. They worked out cheaper than local. All said and done I think it was around $100 savings for my truck tires after I paid to have them mounted.
-
In high population areas like I hunt in 8H. I think they may have to use other methods too. Although I think guys may shoot more does if their buck options were limited the first few years.
-
Just for the record an AR program protects more than spikes and there is no significant population increase. They typically issue an increase in doe permits to account for the bucks making it through. I am not I favor of mandatory AR's but your arguments are based on emotion and opinion and not in fact

I have no idea of a number. But I am sure once the does on the property are breed whether they are 1.5's or 3.5's. They will wander for more does to breed. Probably fine for over 10 months out of the year but the rest is a crap shoot with 500 acres.

Within the distance Doc asked about I have to disagree. Accuracy is in the gun. I have seen shotgun rigs that group better than some rifles, even those in 270 at 100 yards. As for effect on a deer. It is about energy and bullet construction. The numbers don't lie.
-
If I had the 270 I would never pull the 12 ga out again. but inside 100 yards there really isn't that much difference comparing a high quality sabot. Where the 270 pulls away is trajectory outside 100 yards. But since Doc is talking 60 yards, his shotgun could have more energy than his 270.. But I guarantee the deer won't know the difference but hi shoulder will.
-
You need to check on some of the newer slugs out there. They ain't your Grandmas ole hunks of lead anymore. But they certainly do wrap the snot out of you to generate the faster speeds and higher energies.
-
The 12 gauge Core-Lokt Ultra sabot bullet is a .50 caliber, 385 grain HP semi-spitzer. The catalog MV is 1900 fps and the 100 yard velocity is 1648 fps. The ME is given as 3086 ft. lbs. and the remaining energy at 100 yards is 2325 ft. lbs. Winchester 130 gr Silver tip. The catalog MV is 3050fps and the 100 yard velocity is 2828 fps. The ME is given as 2685 ft. lbs. and the remaining energy at 100 yards is 2309 ft. lbs Now that Remington 12 Guage sabot is top of the line. Not many sabots out there that carry energy like they do. Not sure what you were shooting Doc. but ballistically they are pretty similar in the short range mentioned

Unfortunately there could be a vast amount of variables. you can pass every buck for 5 years and if the property won't hold them it wouldn't make a difference if you passed for another 5 years. 500 acres is a pretty sizable chunk but even with the development of food plots there can be things working against you. How hard is the property hunted during the season? Pressure will push the bucks out of the best habitat, especially the older they get. Or force them to be night walkers. How is the property accessed to hunt it? The right 500 acres can be managed to hold matutre bucks but this time of year they will move to where the girls are so having the does calling it home will help as well. Some of the most successful people I have spoken with in the last few years can't seem to say enough obout crazy thick cover/food combinations AND sanctuary areas. There has to be areas they can get to to avoid pressure. If that area isn't on your place, it will be on someone elses. Or in the brush lot behint the Elementary school that no one hunts....lol. Seems like the big boys always find the quiet spots.

Culvercreek hunt club replied to nybuckboy's topic in General Hunting
I still have one from years and years ago. they stink. they are hot but they stink. I even have had teh solid fuel stick type. They are very hot. http://preparedness.com/solfuelhanpo.html?utm_source=googlepepla&utm_medium=adwords&id=18283950120&utm_content=pla But I too have a muff to put my hands in. That isthe best investment I have made. I use it from hunting to ice fishing to sporting events.
