Dave Edwards Buck Officially Scored
Culvercreek hunt club replied to nyantler's topic in Deer Hunting
Like I have said in the past...my rating system is ...pass....big....really big....and heart attack big....that one is in the latter. This might sound odd, but I think if you shot a buck like that you have to ask yourself..."How can I ever top this?" It is a once in a lifetime. -
With a teenager in the house I get to see all those movies....I knew what it was....LOL. Kinda sad a guy has to fly under tha radar like he is because of what he does.

non typical points are tough on a typical score. and when you have that many points any difference between sides really adds up. I am not really into scoring but if it is a typical 13......would it lose an entire matching dimension from what would have been a typical 14 frame? -
Doc, I read it as wildland fires were the planned ones. Might have been wrong. Seems like a lot of the prescribed burns revolves around pine barren and wetlands based on some of the narratives I read

Shorten the NY Gun Season?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Helderberg Hunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Great point....let me really stir up the kettle. The deer do seem to be more likely to go nocturnal than they use to when I was young (can't believe I used that sentence...lol) Is it the lack of hunters that aren't there to push them around...and a lot of the ones that are out there use stands......or has the increased popularity of bow hunting over what it used to be made them super sensative to human presence. Or the advent of all the scouting rage...in the woods for cams....ect. Maybe the guys I grew up hunting with were just simple minded hunters but we didn't spend the time int he woods preseason like I do now. Could all this activity prior to gun season be contributing to the activity during the season? -

If i came across a buck of this caliber I would want it to be a spit second sort of thing......I am not sure I could keep my heart in my chest if I had to watch this monster walking to me over any distance.....What a buck -
Maybe NY State should implement this type of program
Culvercreek hunt club replied to shu9265's topic in General Chit Chat
Wow...couldn't follow that...lol example using the 197 inch buch taken would be 197-100=97 97x97=9,409 9,409x1.65=15,525 -
Glad you made it out ok.....dam current makes ice very unpredictable. How far from home were you? Bet that hot shower never felt so good!

As always....you have a big heart I actually have a buddy....was my best man....He wants to buy it in the spring and it will give me the cash to get a tractor for camp and a few other toys that I will use more. My wife grew up on bikes but she has no desire to ride now....so I think she should go to someone that will appreciate her.....the bike ...not the wife...although I will entertain offers ther too...LOL

I use a Garmin eTrex. it works great but the labelign of the waypoints can be a little time consuming. No ke board so you have to scroll through the whole Alphabet....kind like the old arcade video games when you had a high score...lol. It was only $100. no maps.....but waypoints....route tracking. average speed and such. I have been thinking of getting one that you can upload maps on though. I think they might have discontinued this model but they must have another one out there. I used mine in Quebec on a caribou hunt and I use it on my lease land all the time. Always gets me home.

Love riding. Seems with work and other things going on I don't have as much time as I use to. This is my Honda. 1800 VTX

Passed on Canadice this last weekend. I let a buddy talk me into fishing Irondaquoit instead. Went out Sunday afternoon. small perch....there were a lot of them but only 3 that I would consider keepers. Was a lot slower than the reports I had gotten. imagine that...lol

Or lease land is split by Broome and Tioga county. Tioga is rifle...Broome is SG. I believe because of Binghamton. That one is like one of the few southern tier counties left as SG. Would like to see that one go rifle as well but have not heard any grumblings of it. Anyone hear anything about Livingston up to 20A again?
-
Love my 30-30.....but....if I only had that and theat new SG you just got....I would probably take the SG to the field most days
