  4. I am with you INFM----and over the last few months I have been drinking Blue Light like crazy and those two brunettes in the tight blue spandex have NEVER showed up either...I smell a class action lawsuit coming!!
  5. Hey Burt----That is who I les my land from.....do you have a lease with them???-----110 acres is $2,000 but I was able to buid a cabin and have exclusive use year round---can post it and only time anyone is in there is every 15-20 years to log it. and bonus I get 2 DMAP permits (1per 50 acres).
  6. I have 1200 gram IrishSetter Elk unters...love them....this is my second pair and I also use the air activated heat soles in them on cold days...word of warning though....don't put them in on a day you plan on doing a lot of walking....my feet roasted then and I had to sit down in the woods and take them out
  7. Bad wrap and not right to blame this on a crossbow....how do we know it wasn't some redneck, criminal midget?...they would have short arrow...right?....RIGHT!!
  8. Prayers are with you Bill. I hope it all works out.....and if nothing else...be greatful you are not a horse...lol....Hope that got a smile
  9. my last one was 600....5 years ago...took a year
  10. Well I spent some time ont he internet and no dice....seems it is a hoax.
  11. OK....not sure if it is true but a buddy told me he doesn't buy AA batteries anymore....he buys the square 6 volt battery with the springs on top...He says he opens it and there are 36----AA batteries in there. The 6 volts go for 4-5 bucks...If that is true seems like the way to go....my GPS...radio...rangefinder...flashlights and one of my trail cams take them.. Anyone ever heard this?
  12. Well I hate to go against what DEC is saying but here goes....If you listen to any of them they will say "There has been no stocking of ML in NY" but none of them will tell you that there are "none" in NY. And they shouldn't. I have been in the woods since I was 8.....Boy Scouts for over 10 years....and i consider myself pretty level headed. I have seen every mammal native to NY and Bobcats on several occasions. I had a large cat trot across the road in front of me in the area of Forestport. It was a mountain lion. It was probably about 75 yards in front of me and your travel lanes are about 12' wide...nose to tail he fill most of the lane. tan in collor and at least 100 pounds. I saw him coming down the banks....slowed....he crossed and disappeared back up the other bank. Probably saw him for a good 10 to 15 seconds. No camera...no proof....I wish I did. He was beautiful but really makes you think. There is a lot of big country up there but I find it odd no one had landed one on camera. I wonder how DEC would view it if someone shot one....is it an unregulated species or protected?
  13. was looking at pellet stoves for my camp but unless you invest in the battery back up I don't think you can burn them without power. I opted for a wood stove. Growing up we had an air tight furnace that had a metal shroud around it.....that was ducted into our oil furnace....while burning wood the fan between the two would kick on an blow it into the oil furnace. once the plenum got hot the oil furnace fan kicked on and blew it throughout the house.....if the fire went out the oil fired and burned as normal.....(that 3 am cold morning....brrrr) We use to go through about 15 face cord a winter and that was run most of the time, but the house wasn't insulated that well.
  14. What I hate about Dick's is once a season starts they never carry any inventory......try to buy ice fishing supplies there in January or Feb....NOTHING...It is like that for most of their stuff. At least Gander keeps their inventory up.
  15. WOW NY!!!...must be your wife and MIL don't hunt and aren't on the forum...LOL. I would tell you guys my mountain Lion story but you would never believe me
  16. LOL...throw $50 in the trunk for gas to get home....it goes fast up there!!!
  17. Supports at 16 inches on center ....Minimum...and some of that stuff is slick as a greased pig with a little snow.
  18. Yup...I am ready...called the Dr today for that script Doc....quit date is a week from today...just an idead of NY tax...just bought a pack in SC for 4.25....same ones in NY are like 9.60 gonna quit and get a new gun at the beginning of the year when I make it
  19. 180.....damn..I haven't seen that since high school...I try for 220 by hunting time. Bill...good luck with all that...and on the bright side...venison is very low in fat...Dr told me to eat that before skin on chicken...and I do cuz no skin chicken to me has no taste. My biggest hurdle is quitting smoking...NY is helping me with that at 9,50 a pack
  20. I love to hunt in the rain....with a gun. I won't go out with a bow of it is raining heavily.
  21. Emily for president...lol...very sound advice. Especially the part about looking at others points of view.
  22. I usually put on 20 between January and June....summer work and hunting itself seem tp be enough tp get it off as long as I stay away from the carbs....and they are my downfall. Not much of a sweet tooth but pasta and bread are my downfall...I really try to add a lot of simple thing...stairs instead of elevators and stuff like that. Best formal routine o ever did was stairs....boring as hell though....get a walkman or ipod
  23. When I was working out in the field on construction sites....we poured a lot of concrete....the junk 2x4's all covered on concrete that were thrown out made great stands...used them for the platform....instant anti-slip
  24. Just moved three ladder stands yesterday...all 3 down...moved...and back up in 3 hours...went fine except the one my buddy hints out of....damn double stand with a full platform....I think I need a chiropractor...lol. Lots of ways to do it and I love some of the ideas here.
