Check www.Sportsmansguide.com I have been having really good luck with their Guide Gear line and they have last years stuff at discounts because the sores won't stock them.....like they get stale...lol tough question to answer though. How do you hunt....stand hunting in cold weather vs the need for a quiet fabric because you still hunt....you want water proof or the area you hunt has a lot of briars. I wear camo brush pants and put my money underneath...if it rains I have a good light weight and quiet set of rain gear

Amen Burt. And those memories will NEVER be erased -
What is becoming of todays hunting?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to noodle one's topic in General Hunting
I have to chime in too... I agree with WT. I din't read into Noodle's original post any hostility. I understood his "greed" question. I see it. I think many of us have lost sight of the experience for the results portion of hunting. He was suggesting that before we champion any cause maybe we should take a look at how it effect everyone not just us. I have been guilty of it. especially in the crossbow posts. I want it legal in bow season so I can bow hunt with my father again. I definitely want it more than he probably does. He is clear on what is important...even during bow he still comes up to camp....cooks...hangs out and tell stories and we enjoy each others company...and when we run out of stories we pull out the lies...lol. But my view on xbows is greedy and selfish...I want results for me and don't consider you guys.... Sorry for that. Think of the last time you took someone hunting...put them in the most productive stand you have and they took a great buck....great feeling huh. Now if any of you had someone come hunting with you....put them in a crap stand and the poor sap didn't see anything...that feelign will never compare with one that wasn't greedy. My 2 cents...no more xbow talk.....unless Solon want to pm me...LOL...sorry Solon -
If you ever saw raw milk under a microscope you would never drink it....but mmmmmmmmmm...It is good and makes the BEST whipped cream...damn good thing it is almost lunch time..lol

Blaser slide bolt rifles
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
SW Muleys... that one is on my bucket list too....hope to see a few pics here when you get back. Thansk for all the insight on the Blasers. That is the nice thing about these forums...bound to run across a few that have first hand knowledge rather than hear say. I like the versatility of the gun...onw big reason why I went with an Encore muzzleloader....keeping options open Thanks again -

boresight or paper target ?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to skyzmine's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I don't know Steve....probably just what my father beat into my head growing up....clean from the back and never but anything down the barrel that was metal. Always used fiberglass rods or strings (way b4 snake bore cleaners) He use to tell me "treat that last inch of the barrel like gold...It is the last thing to touch the bulet until the deer" -

that is scarey stuff...saw them about a year ago...FMJ ammo... the other type of gun they should ban (waiting for the sighs)...BB guns....dangerous as all hell...lol True story...me as a kid...shot my bb gun all the time...loved my old single pump daisy. Got the bright idea one day to shoot balloons stapled to Dad's picnic table bench... SHot one----hit the balloon and heard this metal sound "ting" Shot two---- same sound but this time I heard and felt it....both bb's had hit the ballon at about 25'....came straight back and hit the end of the barrel...fractions away from costing me an eye. My daughter never got a bb gun....pellets are much better... I guess the moral of this story and the videos.... it is a game of fractions and ALWAYS expect the worst -
boresight or paper target ?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to skyzmine's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Oh....I read the laser dot and thought it was a chambered cartridge styl like i use. I opted for that type because I don't like any metal in contact with my rifling or crown that isn't a bullet. -

When you do that Gutpile...rotate the laser cartridge....everyone I have used had a "wobble" to the dot...find the orientation that works best and score the laser at the 12 o'clock position so you have a reference...works for me -
Do you wear Orange? If so why? If not Why not? :)
Culvercreek hunt club replied to TheHunter's topic in General Hunting
Doc, I hate the fact that a law is required to have folks do the right and sane thing....anything...not just BO. Where I think the BO differs from the helmet and seatbelt laws is this. If John Doe decides to no wear a seatbelt....hits a tree----NO effect on me.....If John doesn't wear a helmet and has to lay his bike down and suffer massive head injuries----No effect on me......NOw if John decides to slide into my legally posted property in full camo....plopps down behind a bush and a deer wals between me and him....His poor decission could have an impact on me. Like I have stated in many threads before I am the last one to be for any more imposition by the Government, but I could understand this argument, because it effects others not just the one choosing not to wear BO. -

I think the point Bubba is trying to make...and he did...is why a governmant mandate? If you are smart enough to realize the benefits and want to wear it it should be your choice. And let's face it, if there are folks that aren't bright enough to reralize the benefit of BO...seatbelts....helemts and any number of other safety measures.....would it be a bad thinkg if they were taken out of the gene pool....not to sound calous but survival of the fitest has been around for millions of years. (bad start to the week...lol) -
Scentlok lawsuit in Field and Stream article
Culvercreek hunt club replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in General Hunting
I have insulated camo pants and hooded jacket that I bought after season too. They have scentlock incorporated in them. I would have bought them even if they didn't...the price was great. I can't say I see a difference in normal hunting clothes that are handled correctly to control scent. I was my stuff in baking soda.... no detergents. Hang dry (because I think the dryer hold the dryer sheet scent) and store in a rubbermaid bin with either pine or cedar boughs....or apples on the bottom....just watch when they get juicey....rubber boots when bow hunting. Then I wear them into a greasey spoon diner for breakfast and climb into my stand and have a few cigarettes...LOL...just kidding on that. DOE----Kettery TP is my alltime favorite store...love that place!!! -
I agree Landowner but, it is probably in my head....for eating the does always taste better to me. I tend to give the bucks away and put the does in my freezer
