Thank you. I have to be honest. I am a bit sad this morning that it is over with except for our venison social dinner on January 12th. It will be nice to meet the spouses that I haven’t met yet but it has been such a great group it will be hard to top this class next year. Right now there are 10 on the waiting list but I am hesitant to go that big because I want these new hunters to have multiple outings if they need to.

Well our last Field to Fork participant That hadn’t gotten a deer wanted to give it another try this weekend so Amy picked up her muzzleloader tag. She also has her antlerless tags and her regular season tag. We saw 11 deer this morning and she passed on a very easy shot on a lone fawn. About a half hour later 6 came around the corner and she showed great poise waiting for the right shot as well as waiting for the big doe to clear he other deer. Beautiful 65 yard shot with the encore muzzleloader. Very proud of you Amy and glad to have been a part of your journey. I know that muzzleloader is a handful but you did very well with it. Hope you don’t bruise. Lol. We are still on stand finishing the day so see if we can double her up.

great time of yer to get the trail cameras running and see what made it through. DO it again in the spring and see what the population is. There is only one person on here that has the chance at the information you need to make the decision on the topic you are asking and that is you. You need to evaluate the heard numbers and make up Look at the food sources and see how they are holding up to the population that you observe. Is there over browsing? Hop on the QDMA website and look at their old articles. I believe this topic was covered and it was a pretty good write up

you're right, we don't have to like it. We also don't have to accept it or sit still while it takes place. -

not to bust balls...well..yes I guess I am gonna. Does anyone even bother to read the regulations anymore? Honestly it blows my mind when topics like this come up and so many people don't have a clue. I can understand maybe the first year of a change but come on guys. As shown in the question and answer paste above the DEC even addresses this in a special question. READ THE BOOK

Ten Point Poached Close To Our Property
Culvercreek hunt club replied to grampy's topic in Deer Hunting
There was a new fine structure but it was no where near what was originally proposed. Our Rep's didn't think it would pass if the law was too hard on these scumbags so they watered it down. It's better than it was but nowhere close to what's needed. . -
very very sensitive to dehydration while on those meds. I had the issue. once I really started drinking a lot of water it went away.

Cuomo cancelled my insurance for gun theft

NOT entirely true. My home owners had a $1,000 cap on that. I had to purchase a separate rider to cover a portion of what I have. Basically I had to provide pictures, serial numbers, value and a description of any firearm I wanted covered. Then they priced the rider. I had to do the same for my tools since it was over the normal coverage as well. Buddy had Nationwide for about 25 years. He had a break in and they stole about $18,000 in tools. Covered less than $5,000 Edit: my point is don't take for granted that "my home owners covers it" -
I just wanted to follow up with the campaign total on this. Across the state, NY QDMA raised $6,350 for the Venison donation coalition. This Go Fund Me sits at $2,250. Add in the our Branch match of $1,000 and that is $3,250 of the $6,350 State total. I want to thank everyone on the site for helping in this effort whether you passed along the information or actually contributed. Next year when you are purchasing your license, take a second and approve the donation through the licensing system. It is under advertised and not used very much. The licensing agents do not push or inform on this as they should

Primary Rifle and Back-Up Rifle
Culvercreek hunt club replied to pitweiler's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Are you set on a repeating firearm? it seems like weight is your main concern and you may want to look at something like an Encore. They are very rugged. the work some of the guys are doing with them is pretty crazy. the cartridges like the 308 the guys are cutting down the barrels and with the synthetic stocks and an 18-20" barrel it is a very light unit. I can't see anything happening to a gun like that beyond a knock that messes up the scope. for a back up in that case another barrel and scope combo concealed in the vehicle is a great option. (even packable) Two screws and a pin and you are off an running again. The nice thing about that is the trigger and everything is the same between configurations. -
put them in the oven and warm up to about 250 degrees and then take them out and give them a coating of linseed oil. It will really protect them from deterioration and also help with non-stick if you actually use them.

I took Amy out on. Saturday afternoon hunt. She couldn’t go for a full day. We saw 3 deer. A doe and fawn fed down the hill in the thicket and stopped about 10’ from coming into the open. They turned and went back in. No shot. If I can talk her into shooting my muzzleloader I will give it another try next weekend.
