Tarheelsaint, I took this buck back in 99. Wish I had a beter picture but it is really similar to your deer. It even has all those bumps on the base of the rack. Perfect 10pt that got me in the book at 125.75. You have a nice deer there. FL

I'm sitting here reading this drinking an aloe vera drink with some apple cider vinegar in it. Feel better already! lol

Thought you had to be out to have the scope down your throat?
-
I feel much better while I'm eating or drinking. At night it doesn't bother me. About 9-10 am the pressure in the throat starts then the slight burning.

Tried Omerprazole and it didn't help. I'm on Pantaproprazole right now hoping that will help. I have to stop the coffee. I got better a month ago and went back to the coffee and it came right back. I guess alcohol is another no no?

I have had this now for months. Regular doctor put me on meds it didn't help. ENT doctor put the scope down my throat all looked fine. He put me on another type of med and that didn't help. Got the pressure, lump in the throat feeling along with burning in the esophagus at times. Seems like Zantac helps it but doesn't cure it. Anyone else have this issue and was able to recover from it. Would love to hear some remedies to this problem. Thanks FL

I planted White Spruce 8 years ago from the Saratoga nursery. We kept them in rows about 5 feet apart. I like what your saying about l shape that is interesting. FYI these trees have yet to be rubbed on. I was told before I planted that the deer don't like them which is true so far. I would try the l shape, good luck.

We had a 5 year old at camp this year for opening day. My brother took him out opening morning, they both had plenty of orange on. Friday night prior to the opener I drilled it into everyones head the safety rules at the cabin especially with the little guy in tow. We all were on a group text so each hunter knew when someone was coming and going. Not once did I have to remind anyone to put their gun in a case or to unload out in the field not at the cabin. Alcohol was permitted after the guns were away………..Hope the Officer makes a quick recovery. I just can't believe the consequences of a bad decision or an illegal one all for the purpose of killing a deer.

There are a lot of things that determine what a "good hunter" is. I truly believe some of us have a 6th sense. Having this keeps us in the game longer. You can sit for a long time know when to slow down and when to be out there. I have a buddy that comes up to my place. I have walked up to him a number of times within 20 feet. He never hears us. I have watched him stretch at his stand making all kinds of noise and movement. He wonders why he hasn't seen a deer. patience is a big aspect of hunting….just keep at it.

Daughters leaving for her college interview.

She got the call last night at 8! She was accepted into the program and will be playing field hockey! She was over the top excited and so was I. She is such a hard worker and puts everything she has into whatever she does. So figuring out the drive to the cabin……I'll have to swing by Allentown first then head to Scranton, Binghamton then west to the cabin. lol -
Good luck with the knee surgery. I am too busy to spend enough time at camp to harvest a deer. This year it was a total of 4 days. I was lucky last year getting two on opening day. This year not so lucky. I signed over the doe permit to my brother. 4 deer killed at camp so there is meat. I just love being out there enjoying every moment. From the first-light of the sun, the chattering of the squirrels and the fly overs of the Canadian Geese. It just rejuvenates my sole like nothing else. Enjoy every minute of it and bring a kid along!

Very vague…..let it all come out before we burn someone at the stake! lol

Sweet! Thanks.

My brothers biggest deer, 140 class, was shot after a fellow hunter took the Texas heart shot at the deer on the run. He wound up putting a slug through the right flank. Deer was tracked for a few hours. Leaving a few blood beds here and there. It was pushed onto my property and crossed right under his stand, done deal.

Good luck Greg. I too will be moving next year. I'm in the process of taking inventory. What gets chucked, what goes to the cabin and what comes to my new place. Enjoy your new home.

Taken on the South Fork is all I know. Beautiful deer.

On LI when gun season opens in January there are still deer with spots on them. They get shot weighing 40lbs or so.

That sucks. They will learn the hard way I'm sure. Good luck finding a new place to hunt.

Shoot young bucks to let older ones mature

The camp next to mine is made up of 70% out-of-staters. Only 2 of them get doe permits because of land owner status. The first buck that walks by gets shot. This year they had 6 bucks hanging by Wednesday. 5 were 1.5 yrs old and 6pt or less. 1 buck was a big 8 pt. 2.5 yr old. I guess this theory can work because I know there are a bunch of big ones out there to shoot. They will have little pressure on them on a big track of land right by me. -
I have two stands 15' off my property line. It all depends how friendly the neighbor is and how much land they have to hunt. I border a chunk that is 350 acres. There are 5 guys that hunt this property. They are all real nice and never once complained about the stands. Their closest stand to my property is probably 50 yards.

Just got back. Camp is still warm with the crew up there until Tuesday. Had one miss Saturday morning and My brothers son in law shot a decent 7 point Saturday afternoon. It was a bust after that.
