Way behind, but I aways am. fortunately my spot won't need a whole lot of attention just some trimming and I have to move one ladder stand. I have only been out a few times in the past two months and the last time out, it was so hot that I pretty much turned around and walked right back out as soon as I got to my first stand. I told myself I was "scouting". I haven't even shot the bow yet, but I put the field tips on my arrows last night.

Heck, it's the law. You gotta comply.

My contention is that they are trying to eliminate, or at least severely diminish, the 2nd amendment, but OK..... What if a law was passed saying that you could keep your firearms in your home, but that you have to keep them, unloaded, with trigger locks installed, on all firearms, and that they also must be kept in a government approved locked cabinet. In addition, all of the ammo. for the firearms, must also be kept locked in a government approved cabinet in another room in the house, away from the firearms. . Would you go with that ? Under that "scenario" you still have your 2nd amendment rights. -

Doc....If a law was passed tomorrow that said that you must surrender ALL of your firearms, would you comply ?? Would you expect the police to enforce this law? Do you draw the line at any point? or is your thought that " a law a law" and should always be enforced? -
90% of the time Im a Bud guy. My brother owns a local sports bar, with a good selection of beers. When I stop in I like the Stello , Sam Adams or Adirondack beers. A true black and tan is hard to beat too. ....Im all over the place.

I was bow hunting, several years ago. A huge buck kept chasing a doe by my stand. Big heavy, wide rack. He was grunting, snorting, wheezing and making sounds that I haven't heard since. The doe just kept zig zagging all around my stand. A couple times they passed directly below my feet. This went on for what seemed like forever but was maybe 5 minutes or so. I came to full draw 3 times but when ever they were in range they were beyond hauling ass. Thats why I keep going.

Im not preaching any "dooms day" stuff and Im not counting on the police to ignore any portion of the SAFE act. My opinion is that these laws are so over the top that I would not enforce them and I would not think any less of a cop who refused to enforce them. A lot of Police agencies have publicly announced their opposition to recent gun control laws and numerous agencies have stated that they will not enforce them. Has that ever happened with any other laws ? Are these "rouge" cops that should be fired ? -
Before you buy it, take out the plug and check out the bore. Some people neglect the hell out of muzzle loaders and if it hasn't been properly maintained (cleaned) the bore could be shot.

I understand but Im talking about laws that have reached the level of sit coms. "You can have 10 rounds in your magazine when you're at the range but if you have 10 rounds in your mag, in your own home, to protect your family, you are now a criminal" ..."your semi auto shotgun with a pistol grip is fine, but take two minutes to install a thumbhole stock to the same gun and you're now a criminal" Im not a "the sky is falling" type guy but I do think that self serving politicians are willing to devise ridiculous, nonsensical laws that purposely infringe upon the rights of honest citizens. I would absolutely not enforce such laws. Call me what you will. -
Nice looking set up. 338 should do the trick.. Good luck.

A lot of cops, especially old school cops, will look the other way when it comes to ridiculous "laws" like most of the SAFE Act scam, and this no spent shell law. The problem is that they can enforce such nonsense if they choose to or are pressured/ order to. -
I don't do scotch, but Im heading out to the porch right now with a Macanudo and a Sam Adams...ENJOY !!

Anyone every find pot plants well out in the woods
ants replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in General Chit Chat
About 5-7 years ago I was jogging down a seasonal road in a wooded area that was not really huntable because of nearby houses.(Bow hunting maybe). I found six big plants just off the road, maybe 30 yards. They were all planted in white 5 gallon buckets, easy to spot. I went back the next day and they were gone. I found a pair of pruning shears, which took and three full cans of Labatt Blue, which I left. Damn kids.... -
Calling for possible record low temp. tonight. (South shore of Oneida Lake)

I have heard of it...never cared to try it. I guess its a curiosity attractant. One year a few A.H.'s "thought" they had permission to hunt our property & left a bunch of vanilla soaked cotton balls hanging all over the place. Maybe thats why I never cared to try it.

Just a tiny bit of deer pee has worked for me.( nothing dramatic)... Not doe in heat pee, just plain deer pee. Spray a little on a bush at about elbow level. At the very least it will be a good cover scent

Had my knee done last year...ACL..PCL..& MCL all complete tears. It sucked. Just do the rehab & what the Dr. tells you. It takes time but Im sure you'll be in the stand this year. Good luck.

what if a scumbag burglar breaks into a cabin, through a window. Assuming that the cabin's interior is a little on the dark side, the scum finds himself tangled up in a bunch of loose barbed wire that was stored in the cabin, at ankle level, for later use around the property. As he tries to free himself he gets more and more tangled up. In a panic, he stumbles for the door and trips over a strand of 100lb test fishing line that was tied between two studs and was being used to mark a spot for an up and coming remodel. The trip causes the scumbag to fall, face first into an open box of antique broken glass & rusted nails. As he rips the front door open, to get out, a bucket filled with a solution of vinegar and salt ( which was left to repel moths) falls from the top of the door jamb and douses his freshly cut face. As he runs from the cabin, screaming in pain & wrapped in barbed wire that is tearing into his flesh he runs onto a dirt road where he is struck by a logging truck which knocks him off into the woods where a bear humps his almost dead body and then eats him. Thats not the cabin owners fault is it?????

Take 1 ounce of ground goose, mix with 64 ounces of ground chuck, form into patties and grill. They will taste just like all beef burgers. Other than that....dump them off on your hunting buddies.

Are there curtains on the windows? Maybe if they were able to look inside and see that there is nothing for them to steal, they might just move on.
-
Thats the problem with remote places like that. These little s!#t stains know that they pretty much have free reign. The cams might be a good idea. Good luck. I hope that at least the ATV ran good.

The local Gander Mtn. has the ammo. but no rifles. I just want to check one out.
-
Anyone even seen a rifle chambered in this yet or get a chance to shoot one? It seems to be in real short supply. As far as I know, the only rifle chambered in 17 Win. super Mag. is made by Savage but no one has them in stock.

If thats for real, its the funniest thing I've ever heard !!!!

Yeah.... if I knew there was a monster buck in my area, and I had a shot at a big solid 8 or even a nice big 6, I would take it. But thats me.

About a week ago I took the dog for a walk and found a couple small rubs right on the trail. I saw a small buck out in a field Saturday afternoon. He was way out there but and he looked pretty shinny. Im sure that most of the bucks are rubbed by now.
