No scent is the best scent. When the wind is blowing right into the deers face and they don't even know you are there you know you have de scented enough.

NYS can't enforce the current laws on the book, If they pass it, it will still be business as usual. How nthey gonna know with a bow or a crossbow anyhow.

Not seeing a buck is a good thing it means you have all the doe and all those guys who are seeing huge bucks are going to wonder where they went come the rut and that will be with your doe.

Ran into a nest of them in the ground tonight in my yrd. while I was minding my own business mowing the grass. Have no idea how I didn't even get stung once, I had a cloud of the suckers around me. I waited till they settled down and poked a hole down into there nest and ran like crazy. Waited till it got dark and poured half a gallon of gas on them and lit it. Took a while to burn out but they were toast.

That's because in the Hinter land, They can't count well and 112345678 is a big number so they just gave up

Especially during the rut, I work third shift so I get to hunt every day. But during the rut on my way to work I see all the bucks crossing the roads and I just have to take a half night.

You already can't read them from a distance since they shrunk them 50%. Remember the old back tags you could read them from 100yrds away : )

Anyone else get annoyed when they make the tags the same color of the leaves as they did this yr with the tags. The last time they made them brown I shot a doe first day and was gutting her out. I went for my string to tie on the tag and couldn't find it so I set the tag down on the deer and turned around to get the string out of my back pack laying on the ground behind me. I turned back around and the tag was gone and I only had one doe permit!!!!. After walking around down wind for 1/2 an hour I finally found it 20yrds away downhill sticking out from under a leaf. Would have been a lot easier if it was a bright color. Same reason my hunting knife is blaze orange, Set that sucker down after gutting a deer and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Depends on the hunter and what hunting stage he's or she is in. New hunters start out killing everything they see. As we get older our hunting stage's change. I'm a little more selective about what I shoot now, use to be brown it's down. I have older friends who hunt everyday and havent shot a deer in yrs with a weapon and mostly go out with a video camera and enjoy the experiance. So it depends on the hunter, So Forest Hunter you kill and fill everytag and post pics on here of everyone of them and get these bitter old coots all riled up. Because only warm gut piles fill the freezer not the experience. And I think with bow and gun with all the tags depending on howmany doe tags you get it should be 3 or 4. So good luck and enjoy filling them all out. You have plenty of time to be misserable with the rest of us passing up small deer and enjoying the experiance.

Time for an upgrade The tech. is alot better than 12 yrs ago. Unfortunately currently my bow shoots better than I can. Working on getting use to it and tighning up my groups. I had the bright idea of shooting 2 broadheads at the same target the other day and shaved a vane off. Damit.

My brother hunts with a 500 with rifled barrel and a scope for deer and he kills just as many deer dead with it as I use to kill with my remington 870 rifled barrel.

I originally had the XS in hand till I saw the other one and liked the feel of it better. But basically same bow just shorter. If I really had my way I would have got the XL. All are really good bows, I like the way they feel in your hand and the lack of recoil at the shot.

Other than being a serious threat to Archery skills and seasons, ( And bow manufacturers pocketbooks) I think it's a pretty weak argument. If you don't want to use one then don't. Ive handled them and shot them and I can truly say its not for me. To cumbersom, heavy, and inacurate unless you have something to shoot off of. I don't think it will swell the bowhunter rank's either. In current states that have crossbow use during bow season, the data has shown that bowhunters make up the majority of crossbow users and very few gun hunter only go to a crossbow for bow season. Which makes sense, since if gunhunters will not take the time and spend the money on a new bow and learn the skill for bow season why would they take the time to buy a crossbow. And most archers are hardcore hunters who hunt all the seasons and use all weapons so it's only natural that they gravitate to using a crossbow also.

Put it out there as a sure fire way to kill a deer and "sportsman" will spare no coin to have it. Make a video of you killing a booner over it or using it and you'll be a millionare before you know it. Just make sure you edit out the rope and stake

The DEC requires sporting goods stores to sell illegal bait because there is always some dim witted fool who will not read the rule book or some unscrupulous sportsman who will think they can get away with it forever and buy it for " Agricultural use ". This in turn leads to more tickets and more revenu for the DEC coffers. Seriously its not illegal to sell in NY ( usually with a for "Agricultural use" only sign on it.) Just use.

I usually don't anymore I just hit them with the car.

I usually shoot three every yr and before spring its all gone. Oh yeah that's just between my wife and I. My daughter really isn't into it unless its deer sausage or deer sticks. Nothing better than a steaming bowl of deer stew or chili on a cold January morning of ice fishing.

Might as well tie one up in the back yrd and shoot it out the window or go to a high fence area to hunt. To each his own I guess.

Throw out rest replace with wiskerbisqit enjoy killing deer. ;D Problem solved. seriously if you are deer hunting only rest you should have on there is a WB. If you are a bow pro then go with a drop away if you want but the rest of us Bowtards should just use aWB. Read nothing but bad reviews about the Octane, JMO.

Just keep them in the Adk. I really do not want to hit one with my car.

I had an old pair of badly faded mossy oak forest floor that I recamoflaged. I used Tulip, soft, fabric paint. I think it came out pretty good. First 2 pics are at 10 yrds and the last pic is at 20.
