Hunters siding with Antis....sickening
erussell replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in General Chit Chat
Also back when the no hunting on Sunday law was started there were probably more mass deer drives and use of hunting dogs that made more noise. Nowaday after the 1st day the woods is pretty quiet. -

Funny how " right wing religious zealot's " ( also known as Puritins, though the earliest known "blue law" were from constantine a sun worshiper ) helped put Blue laws on the books in the early yrs of our great Country and now Left wing wine sipping, bigoted,God hateingl, Eletist ,Socialist, idealogs are trying to keep a law on the books put in place by Christians to enforce Christian values? Why I don't like liberals, they have a ton of book knowledge but I haven't met but a few with common sense. Anyhow, I really don't see how adding Sunday will raise money, think that is more wishfull thinking but it should be repealed. Even in the Bible belt they hunt on Sundays so a bunch of Godless Pennsylvanians should be able to also. -
If your looking for a new dachshound I have a friend of the family that breeds a bunch of different colors. She currently has 4 black and tan pups ready to go if you want one. I have 4 dachshounds, 2 reds a black and tan and a chocolate dapple plus a little pisser of a chi that gives the dachs hell all the time. Had another red and a pug we have put to sleep in the last 5 yrs hurts like hell to lose one, we consider them like our children.

I think that he just got lucky and was fortunate enough to get it on film. I think to be successfull with a shot like that you have to be extremely lucky ( and steady) I mean just keeping it together with your pin on a 170 class buck would be hard enough. And then you have to make a perfect release, and like Doc said you have to miss everything between you and the buck and hope when your arrow arrives the deer hasn't moved. I think his stars just happend to align perfectly for a split second and his arrow reached the deer when it did. One step in either direction and you have a wounded deer. I myself keep to under 25 yrds thats what I am comfortable and confident with.

Might I add the shot this guy took was through the wood also.

168 grain winchester silvertips feed like butter on a hot plate through my Remington 30/06 760 carbine. Was using corelocs but I couldn't get them to shoot a tight group. Gun just likes the Winchesters I guess.

Ive shot a ton of wolves on Cabelas alaskan adventure game with a 17 hmr and they always go down.

Watched a hunting show last night and this guy on there shot a double, double drop tine buck at 68 yrds. When he drew back all I could say was, no he isn't about to take that shot. But he drilled that deer dead center of the lungs and it piled up right quick. Now this guy apparently was professional 3-d archer and there was even a disclamer at the beginning of the show that there were long shots performed by profesional archers and not to try at home. What are your thoughs, is this a good thing to be putting out there? and what is the longest shot you have ever taken on a deer?

Do you shoot 100 grain or 125 grain broadheads and why?
erussell replied to burmjohn's topic in Bow Hunting
75 grain muzzy's have always flown like a bullet for me. I did go to some low profile 100 grain rocky mountains for a few yrs because the local dicks had them on sale for 15 bucks for a 6 pack but I ran out and they raised the price on them so I went back to 75 grain muzzys. -
Tracks and rubs are my bread and butter. They have lead me to some good deer and some missed shot oportunities. Find a rub on leg size trees and 4 finger tracks and you have a big deer.

Deer will trample apples to get to pears. -

Holy crap!!!!! What a hog!!!! -
Doc, Everything ive read says the big boys will rub a tree before the little one's will and for being this early that is a nice size tree for them to be rubbing on. I would say it was a mature deer starting to get his neck in shape.

Just don't skimp and settel with a cheaper model. Unless your a money bags and will buy a new bow evry few yrs, you are more than likely to have this bow for the next ten yrs also. So get the best and most expensive you can afford.

From the owner of a new PSE bow madness toss the relic and get with the new bow. The tech jump from 90's to 2000 is spectacular.

2nd time now looked like that back in 2006. Wonder if they will rebuild or just punt.

100 yrds with a crossbow is a lot easier than with a longbow ( compound ) and with relatively little practice with the correct crossbow and scope and mount
-
They will probably be made illegal if these dumbasses keep it up.

Watched a show yesterday and a woman on there shot a couple of sheep of some sort at 64 yrds, and 50 something yrds. I can't wait till there legal for bow. All them big bucks just out of range are going down.

Had the same thing happen about 6 yrs ago. Was watching a nice 8 with feet big enough to put 4 fingers in his tracks. Found him beggining of oct on the side of the road with his head missing. -
Yellow is a good color for a back tag, anything other than any shade of brown or green, grey, red, or blue and of course white.

Between 14 and 16 My first 3 deer I killed were with a 37 lbs bear kodiak recurve my dad got when he was 14. All but one were complete pass throughs at under 20 yrds on the ground, stalking. One doe a spike and an 8 point. I also have about 6 complete misses I can remember I love the recurve but it isn't a lazy mans bow. If you do not have the time to put in practiceing everyday don't bother getting one the result wont be pretty. I no longer have the time to shoot one so I went to the compound which I can start shooting a month before and have my body trained to shoot.

Man hearing your storie I dont know how i didn't get stung. Probably because I just ran over it and didn't dig it up. -
Ive seen several in the 140s one that was a heart breaking miss at 50 yrds with the shotgun. Still kicking myself for that one. Here's my biggest so far.
