  1. I like to hang mine at 2ft.for a couple reasons. First it keeps the cam out of a deers direct line of sight. Secondly it cuts down on the trigger range so your cam is not getting set off at deer out to the 50 ft detection range. I just like a good closeup better of the entire deer without having to enlarge the pic to determine rack features. 3'rdly it keeps your cam out of the human eye line of sight as well. You could mount it above head level for this to also be effective theft deterent, but you really cut down your trigger area that way and will have a lot of deer walk right through your shot unless you have something down to stop them.
  2. Heck, I only shoot the doe if the fawns are with her.... I'm just a jerk that way, lol. Honestly though, it doesn't really affect my decision when meat hunting, sometimes I'll whack the fawn if momma doesn't give me the shot. Post season heading into winter see plenty of large doe groups being established for survivals sake. If your deer yard in the winter, the young will have plenty of mentors to see them through and show them the ropes.
  3. 100% positive grouse. Have found the same durring winter when the grouse would litterally burry in the deep snow and explode from their hide when you almost step on them. I'm sure Chenengo Dave could also confirm with the great trail cam shots he gets of grouse at the drum logs. I believe that's one way he picks his sets is by flushing the bird and finding the poop....or is it flushing the poop and finding the bird....either way, grouse!
  4. very few rubs here but scrapes are opening up nightly...I mean a LOT of scrapes. Never been much of a rub line hunter, but scrape lines I can sit on all season.
  5. Same here. I've already had one young buck come to the horns this season so far. I don't mess around with tickling tines at all. Everytime I pick up the rattlers it's a knock down drag out brawl. 2nd week of season I usually have the most luck rattling and one year rattled in 8 differet bucks in 3 days.
  6. I sure hope he reads that script! It always sounds so simple when someone says that, lol! Kinda personal don't you think Burt, lol! Lets just say, this time of year I don't get much reason to smoke!
  7. Because when I find it.., and hit it...it's gonna be totaly orgasmic!
  8. suppose it could have been but what are the odds of another buck shishkabobbing both ears with 2 perfect slug sized holes not tears. I'm convinced they were deffinately gunshot wounds, but of course I don't have any ballistic evidence to back that up.
  9. Here's all I got on this topic. A nice 8pt I took 2 years ago with my ML. Apparently someone else got a crack at him before I took him. Headshots not for me. Left ear Right ear
  10. These are some great shots Jennifer! Really nice, thanks for posting them! What cam are you shooting?
  11. I went back to a 3 pin set this year but still have the 4'th bottomed out. 10, 20, 30......, and 250.. just in case.
  12. WTG Tom, great buck, shot, and story! Congrats!
  13. They look innocent to me. Probably just a friendly game of "duck, duck, goose"....err.. goose, goose, goose?
  14. Lol- pretty cool! Good reason not to scrape that possum road pizza off the pavement....the dinner that bites back, lol
  15. I had a gap between 2 pieces of siding that I plugged last week because the bees and bats had been getting in there. A couple days later I found this guy hanging on a nearby bush. I put on my leather work gloves and scooped him up for a few shots before the wind blew him off my weed prop and he made his escape.
  16. Thanks a bunch again guys! Still on topic here, gotta couple shots of another bloodsucker the other day. Figured I'd add them here.
  17. We can call you all kinds of names untill your title changes if you'd like!
  18. Thanks for looking and all the great comments guys and gals!
  19. First the aliens... ....and the bloodsucker on chippy's nose. one for Chenango Dave. and a few more I'm getting around to. Mr. fox flyby at the fields. Mr Beaver peeing in the pool.....or is he floating logs downstream....either way, just don't drink the water, lol and lastly a fawn face B&W.
  20. Glad we're on the same page Joe. I'm a little worried about the gang here. Seems the thread above this titled "why I love Dick's" is getting all the attention, lmbo
  21. Some good hiking trails at Hunters Creek Trail Park. Built for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riding, x-country skiing, geo cachers. Dogs are welcome. Nice place to get away for a couple hours with Fido and see some free ranging wildlife. Trails are pretty rugged with a stretch running along a gorge to the creek. I think it's about 750 acres total. You may see 6 other people there on a busy day. Only person I ever saw camping there was......well.., me.lol Only about 30 mins. from Buffalo
  22. Any of you guys watching this? Looks like USA didn't make the top 10. I always feel bad for the young ladies that don't make the cut. Be nice to have them all over for beer, pizza, wings, and a slumber party after the show. At the very least would be nice to have Miss Brazil stop by and grind some coffee beans with me! Oh well, just about my bedtime. Sweet dreams fellas!
  23. Oh man you got your work cut out for you this season. You don't want to dissapoint the kiddos and come home with a little dink after they had monster bucks eating out of their hands, lol. Great pics, looks like a great day!
  24. Thanks again fellas! RobC- The camera is a Nikon D-3000 w/ Sigma 70-300mm lens. -Matt
