  1. Venison is good. We don’t waste any. But I will take a ribeye first any day of the week. I like a little fat in my grilled meat and that’s not so good with venison. Now stew or cooked other ways, it rivals beef.

    Challenge

Not agreeing but I think you mean gender. lol
  3. QB is useless if you can't protect him. Not saying one is not important, but fill those trenches with studs first.
  4. I don't follow football anymore, but winning teams are built from the trenches up.
  5. Just not that black and white. What if both are important and neither is more important? WNYbuckhunter pretty much nailed it for me anyways.
  6. Nobody said its a cake walk. My point is that if its all about the challenge as you stated, there are more challenging places to kill a mature buck. We all like to set our own level of challenge, including choosing places to hunt based on likelihood of success or even gear that we hunt with. Honestly, FSW I don't really disagree with you on the fun of hunting for a nice set of antlers, but I do disagree with how you tend to take shots at everyone that doesn't place such an emphasis on antlers. Personally, yes I want to kill a nice mature buck. Its not the end all and be all of hunting for me though. And if I could only keep antlers and never meat, I probably wouldn't be so interested in hunting deer. Then again, if I was only hunting for meat, I would not hunt near as often as there would be no need. So what's more important, the combo is for me. But you will not hear me say: "If most had to get the antlers before they get the meat they would fold." Why - because it makes it sound as if anyone that kills something other than your standard of buck is somehow a lesser hunter than you. That's nonsense too. As a few have said, to each his own.
  7. If it’s all about the challenge, then why not chase a mature buck in the ADK. Way fewer and bigger challenge than hunting letchworth. In some areas killing any deer may be a huge challenge. Equal to killing a nice buck where we hunt. Just something to consider.
  8. Careful, that’s like saying you would fold if the challenge was too great. See what I mean. It’s all relative.
  9. Obviously it’s more challenging to kill a mature buck. Not only are they good at avoiding hunters but they make up a very small part of the total Deer Population. No idea if people would fold. That said FSW, we both hunt pretty good areas. Not sure I would be as motivated if I hunted an area where I saw 2 deer a year.
  10. Glad I don’t have to limit myself. I like both. Meat got me started. Antlers now get me in the stand more often as that is where the challenge lies. Its pretty easy for me to fill a freezer.
  11. Looks solid from pics Biz. Good luck.
  12. I had a concrete slab poured for my 12x16 shed. Added 2 feet to the front and about 6" the rest of the way around for easy maintenance (ie lawn cutting next to the shed). (don't forget to install PVC conduit to slab if adding electric to shed).
  13. I like to satisfy all definitions of hunting so I will only shoot at a deer at 300yds that first passed by me at 25yds. Then I know I got nice and close and still showed the shooting proficiency to kill it at longer ranges. Obviously, I must be on foot stalking so as to avoid claims of cheating by my man Biz! Cant we all just .............................................................
  14. For no particular reason, we tend to buy straps by the dozen at tractor supply. Rotate replacing them every few years.
  15. Nice job to all the hunters- youth and mentors. Way to go!
  16. Logically it makes sense. I know people have successfully used them on deer with traditional bows too. I wouldn't due to lack of penetration. But if that's the goal for turkey, seems like it would work.
  17. I wonder if a moderate sized mechanical head would have the same effect. Stops the pass through penetration from a slow recurve but probably still deep enough to leave it in the bird with a wide cut. HMMMMM
  18. Blasphemy Grampy! Nothing else matters!
  19. BMW and RAM - you must like repairing your vehicles! lol I had a 550ix with the dinan tune. It was crazy fast for a sedan.
  20. Geeze left field, no need to reveal that you are clueless!
  21. Good luck guys. Sounds like lots of birds around!
