Trouble shooting my 30-06. 308 less kick?

Cmon now Pygmy. Enough with the fat jokes. 30-30 is pretty darn mild for anyone, I think. -

Will hit 275 by summer, but then again I say that every year. Pretty sure I will never hit 6'11" unless I am cut in half and stretched a bit. -

30-30 has almost no kick (or at least I feel none) -
what caliber got your first deer
moog5050 replied to 45/70's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
First and second deer were taken with a Matthews Helium (hated that bow though). First gun deer was a 12 gauge smooth bore - not even sure what brand as it was borrowed -- thank goodness it was a 50yd shot at most. Oh the memories way back to 2012. lol -
That would be funny. The same buck mounted twice.

Your arrow can find the whole deer.

Looking forward to seeing that mount next year!

I know someone whose house backs up to 1000 acres. people definitely hunt it. Not sure what the rules are but he says its way overcrowded. That said, he has found some big sheds in there.
-
You could also ask Bauman for permission. I heard he pretty much lets anyone hunt. Not sure how crowded his land it though.

Nope - Brookmere with all the retired folks. My house backs to Watersong. Some big houses on Watersong. Your street is a nice area too. No need to egg anything. lol Larry is off 5 mile too, but on the wrong side of 104. Haha.
-
Yep - neighbors. I am off 5 mile too, but closer to plank than ridge. welcome

Love the hat! Happy b-day!

Great way to ring in the new year!

I started the downward spiral. "Is that a dead deer in your garage?"
-
Sounds like you moved next door. Lol

Decided to commit a full 3 months to the blank bail. I have shot it occasionally in the past but never for prolonged periiods without target work. Gonna be tough not to shoot at a target for 3 months. I hope it pays off. We will see. I will say that I often shoot really smoothly after even 10-15 arrows on the blank bail so I am thinking 3 months may yield some solid results. Started today with 30 - 40 arrows. Any of you folks spend a lot of time on the blank bail?

These threads always take the same road. It's pretty clear that not everyone will agree on this subject and calling other hunters lazy doesn't help anyone's cause. I hunted the last two bow seasons with a bare bow recurve. Yes, it takes more effort to effectively kill deer with that bow than a xbow or compound for that matter. But who am I to sit on my high horse and degrade others for choosing an xbow or compound. I am happy to share the woods with others that don't have the time, dedication or just desire to shoot a recurve. And, if it avoids wounded deer, all the better. I still hunt with the compound when I feel like it too. And on the poachers issue, poachers will find a way to poach xbow or not IMO. Xbows will neither save nor ruin archery season. It hasn't seemed to have had much impact since it was allowed in the last two weeks over the last two years. Lots of other deer management issues that need to be addressed that have greater impacts than xbow. In the end, its probably just time to agree to disagree. Have a Happy New Year.

Safe, healthy and happy New Year to all!

Thanks. Thinking of buying an electric enclosed smoker at some point. You use it indoors? -
