This works well for my recurve arrows. Try the black top loctite gel too. Easy to put on and holds. I tear the wrap off before the fletching will let loose from the wrap. Good luck.

I kinda like BIG CHOOCH. Let's stick with that going forward. Merry Christmas Pygmy!

I have the leupold fx-II 4x on my 3030. Love it and it's small enough that it works on my Henry. 33mm

They have an adhesive side. Some use a water and soap solution to allow you some time to position but frankly it's pretty easy to just peel and stick. $10 is about average if you install it yourself.

They are easy to install yourself.

Zizo bolt cover on my iPhone with a tempered glass screen protector. Not as thick as otter but plenty of protection with a nice slot to use a lanyard when hunting. Check them out.

I use truflight feathers. 4" with a rt helical. The wraps I use are cheap white 7" wraps from eBay. Around $5 for 12. Lay the wrap adhesive side up on a mouse pad or similar foam, position the arrow on the edge and roll it over on the wrap. Keeps them nice and neat.

Get a bitz jig. I use feathers on FMJs and never have lost feathers. I use loctite gel but also put a wrap on the shaft before fletching.

You should learn to shoot a bow if you can hunt there. Not really that hard to become proficient with a compound. Or just get me access. Lol it does seem odd that if archery is permitted xbows are not. Same set back rules.

Why is 3s any different than other areas of the state in terms of allowing xbows? I often tag deer by shoving the tag down their mouth, for whatever that's worth.

Great deal for someone. There was a member looking for a used bow around this price. Take a serious look at this. Great bow. Btw- what is draw weight. -
3.5 year old for sure
-
This is old hat to you. Prepare and be confident that when the time comes, you will seal the deal. Good luck come next season!

Pretty sure they are joking, unless ...... -
It is tough to age them on hoof this way. They really need to cooperate.

That was funny Larry.

Should be obvious if it's a problem when skinned. But if you weren't sure, letting the butcher make the call makes sense. Think of it this way, you might have wasted a whole deer that could be used by less fortunate if you didn't give it to the butcher. I would be fine with your decision.

Best Memory Of The Season, Without Killing A Deer
moog5050 replied to DirtTime's topic in General Hunting
Oh I forgot, watching one of my friends nearly get run over by a nice buck we were tracking was pretty funny. He did a great job of stepping aside and getting a second arrow in it (good shot too at point blank range), but it was a dead deer running already. I was about 80yds away watching it all unfold. I saw the deer running to him way before he did and tried to yell to him but doubt he heard me. It was a scene I won't forget. -
Yep - learning to close the deal is as important as learning to be in position to close the deal. When I started hunting with the recurve in 2015, I shot 2 doe early for the very reason of getting comfortable and confident of closing the deal with that bow just like a compound. Since my second year of hunting, I have held out to shoot a 3.5 year old buck during archery, but have never held back on shooting does, even early in the season. All of those experiences make you better at closing the deal on any deer. I also agree with DB, I tend to get in position to shoot every deer that comes by even though most get a pass. I like practicing the skill of being prepared to shoot without a deer knowing, even if I decide to pass. Moving undetected with deer around is a learned skill and you are missing learning opportunities if you simply watch deer walk by. Just my opinion.

The first bow I ever bought was used. I then paid a shop $45 to "tune" it, which really just meant they gave it a once over, checked timing and center shot. I would not hesitate to buy the used bow I wanted. I have never had a problem buying a used bow on AT. they were all fine.

I had the pleasure of shooting Phade's synergy - very very nice bow. Smooth as silk with huge let off. Not a speed demon but definitely fast enough.

Now that's a steal

Best Memory Of The Season, Without Killing A Deer

Hunting with my 8 year old daughter. So much fun. It did result in a kill, but the great memories are not of the kill at all.
