  1. That's awesome Wooly. Feel like I am right there.
  2. Thanks Law. I don't like putting it down. Lol. I just seem to shoot 48-54lbs the most accurately. Plus, I can shoot this DW for hours, which I do sometimes. I shot one of my best 20yd NFAA scores with a 70lber but I sold it and decided to stick with the lighter weight and really enjoy it. Too light and I lose the feel in my back so high 40s is my minimum. I draw to just under 29 so this is closer to 52-53lbs for me which is perfect. I like to use full length arrows at the 12-13 gpp range. I don't shoot past 40yds much so trajectory is fine and the full length and weight shortens gaps for me. 35yds point on and about a 15" gap at 20yds (although I set gap at arrow tip and it's about an inch at 20). Shooting full length FMJ 300s with German kinetic 210g heads for a total weight of 640ish. They pack a punch for sure and the bow is very quiet and forgiving when I have a bad release. Give it a run again. I bet you would regain those skills quickly. uote name="Lawdwaz" post="467814" timestamp="1461799015"] Great bow moog! Tell me more on you broadhead/arrow combo?? I'd LOVE to shoot a 50# 28" bow someday, again. Started with a 45# Bear Grizzly before (probably!) before you were born. When I was into traditional archery seriously (1987 +/- until 1999) I used 63#-70# only 'cause everybody else was. I bet that is a dream to shoot. Black Widow has been at the top of the heap for many, many years. Nice.............
  3. Saving the knapping for when the Atlatl is legal - should be included in the crossbow bill. I do have some new wicked sharp German steel for BHs though. Looking forward to trying them this year.
  4. Geeze, my apologies. I thought they are only temporary as that was my experience. Didn't mean to be insensitive.
  5. Enjoy them. It keeps life interesting. Something to ward off the boredom.
  6. Ha. You probably got tired of me texting photos of my arrow groups last night. I should have texted photos of the crocs - those crocs have now lasted 3 seasons of hunting and still look new. Great $20 buy. I will admit they are very ugly, but convenient.
  7. LOL - thanks guys. db, you can usually pick up used BWs from around 600-750 depending on age and condition - a lot for a used stick and string but they will hold value. I have tried a lot of different trad bows. The BW grip and heft just agree with me. They are quiet and tend to hit where I want without too much fuss.
  8. The target was shot at 20yds. And that is better than a typical 5 arrow group for me, as you can see from the other holes on the target.
  9. Had to share my excitement. Ordered exactly what I wanted from black widow and she shoots as good as she looks. So happy with it. The deer should be afraid, very afraid. Lol And not too shabby for a 58" hunting bow:
  10. We use a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI on Lake O. Its a nice unit. No major complaints. The downscan imaging is worthless for the type of fishing we do, but probably useful for people fishing in shallow waters. I like the 83/200 transducer and it works well enough to identify thermoclines.
  11. Wait a minute, you killed a turkey? And I thought you were the lousy turkey hunter. Must be ME!
  12. Never noticed any smell from my mounts. Picking one up on Friday. Will let you know,.
  13. I thought Desmond did hear a bear. I was laughing that he tapped out after a few hours though. Pretty sure I could have lasted that long with no preparation.
  14. That is nice and clear video and a nice buck to boot.
  15. Gotta admit - she is talented, but the subject matter is disturbing
  16. Yep - that is pretty disgusting
  17. Yep - both very nice. Just heard my mount from last season is ready. Always exciting.
  18. Can't go this year. I agreed to attend a fundraiser for my kids school - that will not be near as fun. Have fun at the banquet.
  19. Good luck John. Hope your daughter bags one. Looking forward to the hero shot!
  20. I know you will likely want to shoot one first, but a used elite or obsession that is a few years old will be a great compound (smooth and lifetime transferable warranties) and they can be had for less than $500 on AT. Any modern bow when set up correctly should be good to go without tinkering until you need new strings. I used to wonder how anyone could spend so much money on a trad bow before I started shooting a recurve. Its just some wood. Now, I have one compound and a few stick bows that are far more costly than any compound I have previously purchased. lol
  21. Thanks for the thoughts gentlemen. I may have a line on a very good deal for the Bushnell Bone Collector RF. Should work fine and for the price, if it lasts at least 3-4 years, it will be worth it.
