  1. Get it. Ok, I may be biased as it would useful
  2. Wildcats, feel free to PM me if you want to talk about the ups and downs of practicing law.
  3. As I said Phade - most lawyers wish they did something else - but that may be the pasture is always greener mentality. Funny you put that link up. I know Erik Vick pretty well, one of the assistant profs there.
  4. Awesome deer - see you at Burt's Camp on opening day. I call the stand near the cam.
  5. Live below your means; save for a rainy day and retirement; and find something you LOVE doing and pursue a career in that area. I am content with my job, but most in my industry hate it, despite that the income is good. I will be happy if my children find a career they really enjoy more so than if they are hugely successful in terms of economic gain.
  6. No pic, but will be shooting a 2012 Prime Centroid 70/28 with easton st arrows and 125g rage or slick trick heads (486g). I also have a shift, which is a great little bow and may be used in a blind, but the centroid seems to shoot bullets for me at any distance. The recurve kills always impress me. Great job!
  7. That would be after the first shot on your H&H. lol I would probably forget to pull the bolt again before it was gone.
  8. Good luck on getting that first one Vince. Took 3 last year and would be thrilled with that again, although I ran out of venison this summer. Lots of people who want it.
  9. Are you folks talking about the entire season or early season? Last year I hunted mornings and evenings early season, but only took deer in the evening. Later in the season (early rut), I took a buck in the morning. It may be tougher to beat them to their bed in the mornings in early season. I plan to focus on afternoons early season and then adjust.
  10. Says the guy with the slow bow. Just kidding, you know I agree or I wouldn't shoot near 500 grain arrows.
  11. I have shot a slide fire .223. It takes some getting used to for sure. I could only get it to rapid fire in spurts. Definitely not useful for accuracy. Not sure that it was the brand name "slide fire" but it was a sliding stock that bumped your finger into the trigger on recoil.
  12. As I recall, the Elite Hunter was no. 2 and they said would have been no. 1 if not for the lack of speed. All good manufacturers.
  13. I don't fish the rivers, but can confirm that the great fishing on lake ontario this year has shut down for the most part.
  14. That's my buck Machinist. Give him back. It would have been a fatal shot if given enough time. Several years even.
  15. BH right of FP means a weak arrow spine or your centershot is off (assuming the bow is otherwise tuned). Trying moving the rest in small increments to the left and see if you can bring them together. I have had instances where I could not bring them together and changed arrow spine. It worked. Takes patience. You should have them hitting together. The gap gets bigger as distance increases. Don't worry about sighting (assuming you can stay on the block or whatever target you are shooting at). Do that one you have the BH and FP grouping together.
  16. Spoiler - makes her run faster. Its the latest trend. Deer are amazing when it come to healing. Look like that was a pretty tramtic injury at some point. Perhaps a slug? Who knows. One to pass one since you will be missing part of that delicious backstrap area.
  17. Elites are notorious for RH tears. I would skip the paper tune and try french tuning or walk back tuning for CS. Then BH tune. Can you check cam timing? If that's off, you will never get it to tune correctly. If you don't trust your shop, you need a press and DB. Also, if the shop is convinced your are overspined, shoot some lighter spine at the shop and see what happens (and their response). Good luck.
  18. I have the viper tricks. They fly well and are very sharp. The g5 Montec's fly well too, but the buck I took last year left almost no blood trail. I was lucky to find it. It was a liver shot though. They are not nearly as sharp as the vipers. I plan to use Rage this year, but have a couple of viper tricks with me if I need to shoot through a blind.
  19. I would have guessed cam bearing, but I could see the limb pockets causing noise if the rocker is dry.
  20. I know nothing of these high dollar businesses of which you speak, but I did stay at a Marriot last night soo.... Belo I know Phade well enough to confirm with certainty that he was breaking chops, even if you didn't read it that way. Internet postings can be misinterpretted. He is as also hick as they come. lol Thus, its like me telling Italian jokes - won't mention what Phade said when I was dropping a deer filled bloody body bag in my cadillac last year. He also does have great success in getting permission to hunt lands. I won't claim to know how, but since I tag along at times, I know its true. Speaking of which, stop the forum fighting and nail down that last parcel Phade. That said, everyone needs to loosen up a bit. Its a hunting forum for goodness sake.
  21. Biz His antlers are inside of his ears and doesn't look like a lot of mass. Probably a 1.5 year old. Can't tell on points. Probably not the shooter buck you want, but who knows. 7 to 8 different bucks in 3 weeks ain't bad.
  22. Just goes to show that if it wasn't a challenge, a lot of us wouldn't hunt. Could you imagine one of those mounted on your wall there. Its like mounting a stray cat. lol
  23. That's one big mahi mahi. I have caught a few while fishing for marlin since they feed on the mahi, but nothing like that.
