  1. I think this will be very property specific. There are pockets where deer hunting is better in each county. But the harvest data is a good place to start: https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/2019deerrpt.pdf
  2. stop trying to limit my excuses come yote hunting
  3. Hmm. Can’t remember having that problem but I am getting old
  4. xbow scopes have a sun shade? Must be for those 1000 yds shots possible with an xbow. lol
  5. If you mean the ring to focus the scope at distance, no it will not impact your poi on a crossbow. If it’s some other type of ring based on scope construction, it still shouldn’t make a difference. If you were shooting 200yds with a rifle, the objective focus ring can change poi slightly if not properly set. If that doesn’t answer your question, I cannot be of any help. If you are really concerned, just take a few more shots to confirm.
  6. The ring around the eyepiece is to make the crosshairs clear for you. It’s not a scope ring. No that will not change poi on your crossbow.
  7. Sounds like I waited until the optimal time to start hunting. You guys don’t make hunting of yesteryear to sound all that fun. Imagine only 3 stations on my blind TV. That would stink.
  8. Yes it can and likely will change POI.
  9. I didn't hunt 40-50 years ago but perhaps some of you that did could confirm. Deer are very adaptive animals. I suspect most that are killed today are in agricultural areas where food is prevalent and herds have grown. Those lands are now not as accessible in years past as landowners have become more concerned about liability (not a real risk but it is perceived), most lands are posted and not open to anyone and leases are the norm to make extra income. This reduces the number of hunters on any given parcel keeping herd numbers higher. In short, private land where deer herds are greater is now less accessible than in years past allowing the herds to grow even more. And I bet hunting the ADK now is pretty much the same as it was 40-50 years ago. I also wonder if farms that feed these deer are even larger due to the technology that affords farmers the ability to farm larger parcels.
  10. For whatever reason, our hearts pull us in one direction or another at times. I have only been hunting 9 years and this year I killed the fewest deer ever - 2. Not because of lack of opportunity. I still get a kick when I finally see a big buck, but I had no desire to shoot a doe and passed every one I saw this year. Two bucks are plenty of meat for us. Does that mean next year I won't shoot a doe? Not necessarily, but my years of filling all 7 tags are likely done. To each his own and do whatever makes you happy within legal and ethical boundaries. And I certainly wouldn't feel like a sissy because I felt bad about shooting one. You are taking a life.
  11. Not yet Larry. This is the type of season you will kill your biggest in the last minutes of the season buddy.
  12. Won’t mention that a lot of the WNYers didn’t enter but better than I thought. Is team weak 2 and 3?
  13. Great buck regardless but I like your decision
  14. Pm me a price. I think we will end up reloading. Thanks.
  15. Thanks all who offered to assist and thanks to Zeek, I have what I need. Good folks here. Much appreciated Dan.
  16. It might take them a year to figure it out but as food becomes more scarce, they will hit em! Good luck.
  17. I think this is one of those superbowls that you turn off in the 3rd quarter as its over already. You are just piling on. lol Kinda like redskins/broncos or bears/NE for those old enough to recall when most superbowls sucked.
  18. My experience is that small to medium size bulbs are preferred and they tend to hit them after the snow flies as they become sweeter. I would think you would start seeing them paw at the bulbs and rip them out now. Last year, I watched numerous deer pull them from the ground and eat away.
  19. Thanks Zeek. If you stop there, love 3 boxes of the federal 50g. PM me and I can shoot you some cash. Thanks.

    JAWS!!!

Just based on physical appearance Larry. Pic 1 is a good shot of him in 2014 Unfortunately I didn’t weigh him. He was much larger than this years bow buck who was 183 dressed. I also recall Jason saying he had the largest neck of any of the bucks he mounted that year.
