  1. I was always told that most deer finish growing by early August but some deer will grow later into August.
  2. Well I plan on shooting my bow a lot more, making a couple treestands and ladders and hunting some LI public land. I'm hoping to shoot a decent buck and fawn this year with my bow and hopefully a deer with my rifle. So far I have all the wood I need to make the stands and I've taken the bow out a couple times for a check over to make sure everything is safe. I plan on scouting some public land in mid August.
  3. Check out something called chufa. I hear that turkeys love those. Although nothing is wrong with grain crops or clover. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. What arrows do you use? I use Beman ICS hunter at 8.4 gpi. I have thinking about getting some heavier arrows though.
  5. It should be as long as he can prove he has 5 round magazines. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I let em rip. I don't think that smell really effects deer much. It also makes me bum a little warmer for a second so i don't mind that.
  7. From what ive seen, most 22 lr and 22 mag ammo seems to be sold out online as well. I haven't seen 22 mag in a long time but hopefully ill get a pack or two of it.
  8. That's normally when I see them anyway, so it works for me. Hopefully a few years of that and hopefully some habitat change for the better will allow for a better population in many parts of the state.
  9. I just saw today that they are holding a meeting in Huntington to decide if they should allow hunting and make an exception to the no discharge rule.
  10. One thing I learned is that you can be told every little hunting secret in the world, but nothing is better then experiencing things your self. That's the best way your going to learn. Especially since every deer heard acts differently.
  11. If I were you, I would take NFA-ADK up on his generous offer. He is an experienced LI hunter and knows a thing or two about it. I personally will let you know every thing i know about LI hunting and Westchester hunting that I know. I plan giving LI more hunting time this year.
  12. The south doesn't seem to have the 22 ammo problem that we have. The gun now remains un-fired because I cant find ammo, nor can I order it online when I see it for sale. Enjoy your chuck hunting.
  13. Cant go wrong with a Barnes 130 grain TTSX bullet.
  14. I usually start at the sternum as well. As others have mentioned, it helps keep the kin away from the guts. I also think it helps keep the knife a little sharper by not cutting against the stomach hair.
  15. I see no reason for it to not be allowed in NYC IF you can prove your using a 5 round magazine.
  16. Man if I had a piece of property, id be on this like white on rice! Good luck with selling it.
  17. Its probably around 60-70 degrees in the summer depending on the area. Id say it should a pretty cool experience.
  18. It seems the same as a resistance band. I have no doubt that it would work well. I personally would rather hit the gym and hit the muscles like that but I see nothing wrong with this. Get it as soon as possible so you can get those muscles back up.
  19. Welcome aboard! Are you a bow hunter?
