Ladder stands , are they secure?
Nomad replied to Northcountryman's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Thanks ! Attached two large ladderstands yesterday, both have two “V” with teeth ,but bottom one on one stand does not reach the trunk ( odd wavy trunk ) . I was going to try to shim it ,but that doesn’t always work well. I’ll,grab some pipe hangers at Loews today, should do,the trick . -
Seeking Rochester NY Area Lease
Nomad replied to DKaiser's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Wanted to check price with buddy before posting . My friend bought 40 acres in Macedon right off 31 for 48k about five years ago. Very good hunting and can build on it ( that was plan of previous owner ). The access, terrain , and shape make it unsuitable for farming and development, so the apeal and value reflected that, just have to be patient if looking for a “ deal .” -
Ash you say , I had 40 of them in my yard , down to 30 .Having a few more taken down, freind is taking trunk wood to,burn ( 60 footers ) Been treating the rest, but that gets pricey , so I bought stuff and been doing it myself .

Ha three cams. One is broke another the display doesn’t work and the on,off and third function I forget, the knob is missing and I have to use my knife to slide to “ on” , well I over slid it and it wasn’t on. The third I brought home last time because I wasn’t sure that one was working ( it is ) . So I think all told ,with not even putting them out till maybe two weeks ago and them not working or on... I got one doe so far . Know what ? I don’t care to much .

Half a chicken breast and some vegetables, I am on a diet ! Later I may treat myself to some celery as we watch the idiot box .

Went down with Joe today, racketed on stand that was up but not secured , chain sawed a bit, that stand is set. Number three big stand was still on ground, got that up,and minor trimming , will come back Wed to finish trimming up . Heat doesn’t bother me, but I prefer cooler for this work, big plus was no bugs ! Was going to move another small ladder, but we decided it was to risky climbing even with a ground guy to steady, ill cut strap from ground Wed with my pole saw . Small tree, stand was leaning quite a bit and ladder was pulling apart as I had lost most of the clips , didn’t want to remove strap while in air .

Good luck fellas. Used to stay in C cabins( bow ) with about a dozen of us from work , some rented them for two weeks, some of the guys have hunted the park 30 plus years ,so they had it “down” pretty good . We’d bring a hauling system ( rope system ) lash the deer to a cart and use a 4 to 1 hauling system the get them up out of the bottom . Number one rule was don’t shoot a doe or small buck down there .

Thanks, I’ll ease back into some beers when I meet my goal ( or maybe a bit before ) , but plan on eating less as much as possible .

Eight days without a beer or any alcohol or junk food or large meals ,but down 4# 4oz . 14 more to go , been easy so far .

Throw these puppies up by myself , 18 footers 75# shipping weight . Sometimes I get help when I go up and ratchet it in place . Makes it easier on my helper, I carry them in and put up, then another day he just has to foot ladder while i ratchet them , then sit and point out trees to trim . I like the challenge and closing in on 60 makes me feel good .

Not to,many hunters get shot while up in the air . I’ll tell, you I was never more concerned then when I placed my daughter in a camo ground blind on opening day . That is on private posted and patrolled land, that has very few trespasser issues, and I draped an orange vest on top as well .

What knife will you be using for hunting this year ?
Nomad replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
I believe he uses the one that was gifted to him, when he hunts with his FIL , the gift giver . -

He’s in a coma, went into cardiac arrest as soon as they got him down, something predictable and they were ready for .. ( compartment syndrome) From the looks of it ,since his shirt is hanging down I’d say he’s hanging by his feet. And that’s a bit short of 30 feet . Almost looks like a ladder stand, hard to tell .

Free pass from significant other . Who ?
Nomad replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Honestly it would have to be some super smart woman . That way her brains and my physical attributes, would produce offspring that would be an unstoppable force of nature . The Gov may even try to clone it . -
You need more then one putting stands together.... I brought one down mostly assembled , went to attach ladder to,platform , then the two braces . Had the last two bolts , but they were to small and short. Must have used the ones I needed somewhere else, and I always start by putting something on backwards or flipped around . Although that one looks pretty straight forward.

Many great hunters drive Buick’s . Great pics, I too love those old ones , say you should recreate these, this year strap your deer on the hood of your wife’s new SUV . Cant say for sure but that gun kind of looks like a double barrel shotgun held sideways . I know my Grandfather used a DB Remington.

In honor of your birthday , I’ll go to the gym and watch stay at home moms work out, followed by floating in the pool .

It’s very difficult to get your product into Wal Mart, and you do,it their way. When I worked the shipping dock at the Safe factory, K mart might send in seven tractor trailers and we load them full skids, say 500 of one model 200 of another 150 of another an so on. They’d drive to,their distribution center and break it all down for each store re load and deliver. Wal Mart , we had to break it all down per store, re skid it all put a label on each Safe and load it in the order of the stores they’d deliver to . So basically we did the work all the others stores did the themselves . It was idk four to five times the work, but that was just one small part of their demands . My wife handled the Wal Mart account and they’re quite demanding , but if you want to be in their stores you do the work , some don’t and others don’t last long .

I’ll be watching the Cardinals outside in an hour, no beer though I’m taking a break for a month . Gotta cut the grass first .
