    I used to fire a FP into the ground , till one hit a buried rock . Then I bought a pack of these cheap plastic discharge bolts, but every time you hunt use one up . An old or cheap target seems the best, I plan on leaving one where I park , with a few discharge bolts in truck as back up .

    To me the biggest advantage is, I have trouble drawing my compound these days . Personally I’d rather tote a compound, but the Xbow , at least I know I’ll be able to fling an arrow .

    I tie mine off part way up to ladder or screw ins or climbing stick . Often about head level or so start to climb then clip,in ,slide up as I go .

    Well who could hunt that land with such a steep slope and not fall off ?

    I don’t quite understand , the whole pull rope thing . Your life line is tied off above your stand and goes to the ground ,or close to it . I had an advantage as I could get lines at work, when we took ropes out of service . Ropes are relatively cheap compared to say your bow, or well a hospital stay . Mine last many years, buy a hundred bucks worth of rope and be set for years . That video above has some errors, first the line must be a greater diameter then the Prusik not from the same piece ,second don’t use slick nylon like that .

    Wow nice night 14 deer, one shooter 8 at last light closest he came was 60 yards in the field ,glassed him looks nice . Then two coyotes came from behind me would have been an easy shot, but they knew something was up and did a 90 .

    Deer all over on my walk in, rubs too . Fireballs in pocket , Sip O Sunshine in truck . If I can manage to pull the bow back all will be good . S and N view from stand

    I’m of the belief I should be able to leave my wallet on the dash of my unlocked car , however I know that’s not true . I don’t walk 3 feet away without locking my vehicles, if I go get in my car and realize I have to go back inside my house to say grab my sunglasses on the kitchen counter ,I lock it for the 30 seconds that takes . Its a simple press of a button . There is nothing of value you can see from the outside , when I hunt my soft gun case is folded over the seat ,so you can see it’s empty . Some parts of the country it popular to steal cell phones,purses,wallets that are left on front seats while people fill their gas tanks, so I lock mine while I fill up if there’s anything in there . Parking lots at gyms trailheads, and parks are prime targets ,they know folks leave things inside there. My town has a few parks popular with dog walkers, they break in even if they don’t see things as most women won’t bring their purse on the walks .

    Why would I pay a fine for a buck that met the standards ? This actually came up where I hunt, where we have set standards ,as do many landowners around . In fact we get 70 hunters /landowners at our annual meeting , so growing bucks is kind of big thing where I hunt . When the mount it or pay a fine ,came up two of the guys I hunted with ,who are basically paycheck to paycheck, said they’d be done hunting . They had no issue with obeying the rules, but never would spend the money to mount a deer that met the standards . Its this kind of “stuff” that is ruining deer hunting imho ,or least driving out the average joe.

    Not me I’d never shoot another buck . Got two on the wall and have no plans to add to that .

    Just wait, week end and next week mid to upper ‘70 s. Heading down to build another hut for gun season ,rain ,snow ,wind, ill be in a heated box drinking soup ! Pouring hard here in Webster now .

    Wife’s in FLA for a long week end . Not going to pass up an empty house to sit in a tree ! Good look to those out .

    Interesting , just today I was shopping for my oldest daughter . She has been wearing my old ASAT insulated bibs, which are rather big for her . Im having trouble finding women’s hunting pants /bibs, anyone know any good brands let me know . Gal at the Outdoor store / Carhartt store says many women wear ,men’s Carhartt bibs as they can buy specific inseam .
