    I sure don't have it all figured our however, as I've said before I hunt a large farm with buck minimums , many others around do this to. My piece of the farm has a idk I'd guess 500 acre farm next door , that's largely all open crop fields . Any thing they kill is either running to or walking out of my thicket . They shoot any buck , they're great guys ,we let each other just cross over to recover or track and so on. I'm quite pleased when they tag out on small bucks because we have a lot of big ones around ,they are done hunting and the big ones are still on their feet. There was a time we had way more hunters and most shot the first buck to walk / run by. Today far less hunters most are selective and lots of nice bucks . So a few taking young ones matters little around me . Its like someone taking a plain donut and leaving the apple fritters for me !

    As at as mandatory AR's I'm not for them . Where I hunt many in the area pratice our own AR rules , I hunt a farm of a few thousand acres , although it's patchwork , many others around follow suit , some don't . It's been very good so far many more bigger bucks, newbies can still take whatever . As far as one buck rule , only 5% of hunters take two ,so I don't see that being much help at all . Same as shorting the gun season the majority are shot the first few days, and I wonder if in a shorter season many who,pass earlier on young ones would,then shoot one because time is running out. Then of course we'll lose even more hunters , I know many guys who have to work Sat. Or every other week end, they need more opportunity not less . its just deer hunting I love it but in the list of important things in my life it's pretty far down to worry about who shoots what .

    Many of the deer and bear are in town walking down the streets and in the parking lots. Up around Nicks lake is good and there are a number of bear there. Had many a bear walk though my camp,sites over the years . The Moose River Plains area is not far and I believe 50,000 acres . Neither of these spots are places one can just walk around a bit and expect to find the deer and bear. It takes work up there , one reason I don't hunt it anymore ..... one in town the other by Nicks Lake

    Yes seasonal contacts are the norm, however my neighbors pay $170 to $200 , that's what I also,paid a couple years ago . Moogs driveway is no bigger and maybe smaller then mine as I have a two car parking area off to the side as well.( same town ) The key here is pricing tends to reflect the value of the homes for some contractors ..... I know tons of contractors of all manor , nice house and nice cars some will throw a higher price just to,see who'll bite.

    4 doe just ran hedgerow into back of woods, they were checking their back trail hard, we shall see!

    On edge of bean field there are 4 in field and several in woods right now. Also deer tracks all over by your stand and two beds from last night. 3 deer also walked in your boots prints in field . ol now there are 20 turkey in field . Can I trade all them for one buck outside the ears. ?

    Nice morning zero wind , tons of tracks . Busted a ton of turkeys off their roost, bunch more flying down now as well . 3 doe ran into our thicket , which is a goal here , to make that their "safe place."

    Heading down in a bit for a quick sit . Moog you can come back when we get a heavy snow, I'll need someone to break a trail in .... See Moog walked out for coffee and walked by a trail cam. 3 weeks later I see a pic of a hunter by himself , don't recognize him and I freak out, wtf who is this ? I even text the farmer as well. Moogs looking down at his phone and is having a Bad hair day as he walks by alone . then I realize who it is and feel like a dummy . Rockspec only wish more were moving last night .

    Both my guys work out of their homes , 30 plus years . I agree though I don't use any " shops" for car repairs either .

    Doc I trust you to decide when it is safe to shoot regardless of the time , btw I was out of the woods at around 3:00 yesterday as it was freaky dark like you said . Now please list all states that are sunrise to sunset like NYS is , because I could not find any. Not Penn. Ohio, Tenn, Utah , North Dakota,Montana ,Michigan ,Wisconsin, Iowa , and on and on , all 1/2 hour before and after . If it's such a safety issue in NY please explain why it isn't in every other state .

    Without posting the legal light time in your area the shot time does my mean as much as NYS sunrise can vary by 30 minutes across the state . From a safety point , I worry far less about a guy taking one shot 20 minutes before legal light , then the guys emptying their guns an hour later . Perhaps one day NYS will join the majority of states and go 1/2 hour each way . Yesterday at 1/2 hour before sunrise I could tell in an instant that the deer crossing the bean field at 200 yards was a smaller buck , with my naked eyes . I would guess the majority of deer are taken outside legal hours , today I heard a large number of single shots prior to legal light and just one after , I sat for two hours past legal opening light .

    Daughter headed home , she's usually pulling the trigger by 7:20, so 9:00 is way to long for her to sit ... im in her stand now , thinking of taking my boots off kind of hot out . nice bucks fellas !

    Lots of shots around 7 , only a couple nearby . 3rd buck crossed field a bit ago , hope one circles to daughter . All out in field no woods action yet
