  1. Every place is short staffed here , $18 an hour plus tips to scoop ice cream.
  2. 60 %of Americans can’t cover an unexpected bill for $1000, can’t wait till we’re all told we have to buy a 70k EV . I’m hoping the pitchforks and torches come back out .
  3. We have 40k on our 2018, so many years to go ! I just love the fact we can get from Fla. to NY with two full tanks , plus a few gallons . The last time we came home from here, second day we left a friends place at the NC/ SC boarder, with plans to stop around Pittsburg. Well we hit there at 3pm and didn’t want to stop so we pushed on , once we hit Erie it was snowing bad, yet we were so close now. I had plenty of gas , then night came, the snow got real bad traffic slowed, one lane on the thruway … I knew fuel was not a problem ,nor my tanks range even with the curveball we were thrown . EV idk
  4. Not ruling it out , but I need to,learn a lot more about them . I’d like longer range for sure, and faster charging . It’s also a big nut, prior to age 58 , when we bought our Subaru new, I think I only spent five figures on a vehicle two times ,and even then the first number was a 1 . 70k plus I’m going to need to get 20 years out of it . I talked to a guy down here ( Florida ) who came from Nevada in a Tesla , he gets 350 miles a charge , and IF he finds a fast charger it can charge back up in an hour . My Subaru will go about 600 miles on the highway and fills up in a couple minutes . I’d hate to have to start looking for a charge at around 250 miles spend then an hour or more charging it .

  6. If everyone would just stay home the next two weeks , we can flatten the gas curve !
  7. On the bright side Gold is up $56 today . edit: now up $76 , I made enough today to buy 15 or so barrels of oil , great day ! Loading the cooler for the beach now . Short walk , so no gas ….
  8. Sure , but using a tank every 2-3 weeks is a lot better then most , and that EE furnace we put in seems to have been good timing . I’m hoping high gas prices keeps people from camping !! I was going to sell the boat, but if people boat less due to gas prices I may keep,it . There’s a silver lining in everything if you look . Perhaps we should buy our tickets to AK soon though , got a two week cruise , land tour booked . We will hit The Bishops Storehouse when we return , to really build up our pantry to offset any food price increases for a year or so .
  9. Gas price isn’t a major factor for my hunting but after a number of hunts week after week it does come into play . With what guys here spend on leases ,a dozen trail cameras, 20 stands, atvs , Sitka , gas shouldn’t affect those guys at all . Ill try to whack a doe early as a start then hunt less, till the rut . I want more meat, this year , I may have to supply the kids , what with the path we’re on , I’ll can more too. This year my canning fell short of what I hoped .
  10. They spent most time on their boats, then would walk around the island here and there. I figured it was poor form to photograph them .
  11. My Monday was ok …. On a little island in the gulf, lots of naked people too .
  12. Yep, my buddy hired some sort of environmental engineer to inspect his land prior to making an offer . But these people seemed to have been mislead by the Gov. ( aka screwed ) I know they bought in 2000, but today I wouldn’t touch land with “ old oil wells “ on it for free .
  13. Fortunately being retired we don’t have to drive much at all, other then traveling and really once we get where we’re going the car mostly sits . The working man has my sympathy.
  14. In Florida for the winter . Will hit my nephews land in Tenn. in a couple weeks .
  15. Been buying physical gold the last few months, and if we were home I’d be buying more .
  16. What route ? We’re in Sarasota now, Lido beach actually. We don’t take 95, avoid that at all costs, we hit a small part of it around SC/ Geo, then back roads through Fla. to The Villages, then an easy drive to Cocoa Beach . When we left CB cut across the state to Sarasota, the mainland around there can be a challenge but the keys are a can of corn . No 95, No rt 4 .
  17. Just topped off at $3.89 here in Fla. after a slow 4 hour round trip to the airport .
  18. Mostly Pelicans and Sea Gulls here .
  19. Orlando’s funny, going from Cocoa beach to the Orlando airport , it’s a mellow easy drive ,via 528. Over on RT 4 you could not pay me $100 an hour and a free tank of gas to drive that ,if one considers alternating from miles of stop, and go to a high speed free for all , driving . I’d rather spend 2x the time to go, around .
  20. the farm I hunt has been doing more and more ,no till beans the last few years . They also inject manure into the ground from the manure lagoon, through a series of hoses and pumps that seem to go on for 1/2 mile or more. I don’t know much about farming practices, but,it’s what they’ve been doing the last few years .
  21. It’s been happening since the beginning of last year . Here’s an article from last July . https://blog.nationalbulkbag.com/produce-packaging/how-is-the-fertilizer-shortage-impacting-the-agriculture-industry
