Let me know,my buddy might be able to point you in the right direction. They found a new place ,where the rancher used to guide,he has photo albums full of B&C bucks. For 50 bucks a night you can stay in one of his cabins and he still tells you where to hunt.... Before the big winter kill a couple years back you would see 300 deer a day ! Before the economy's downturn the odds of drawing an out of state deer tag was 12% , so what we did. Was apply for the deer elk combo. Odds were like 70% costs 300 more though. I think today you may have way better odds just on deer tags. One can also get on a list for guys who cancell hunts and turn in their tags. Shhhh not many guys know of this program.....

Welcome. Getting a turkey and coyote your first year is a nice start !
-
I agree its a great program, and I hope you do well.i love that Webster is not afraid to use bow hunters ! The first year my buddy who's hunted the land for 14 years prior showed me a great spot, we marked the trail in not with tacks or flagging but things found in nature, so others would not be wise. My first morning I turned on my headlamp and the woods lit up with glow tacks all over! Looked like a landing strip at the airport...... I still have a spot near my house I bow hunt once in awhile, although I skipped last year . Good luck. Larry

I went through my old newspapers today. One year after 50,000 fellow FF's went to NYC for the memorial. It was the best of times and the worst of times. Shared beers and tears with guys form around the world. Marched in the rain and stould outside MSG in the rain as all 343 names were read. A few years later went to FDNY 's officer school for a month, met a lot of great guys, did not press them on the subject , but many there lost close friends and a few family members. Embrace life every minute you don't know what the next minute brings. Thanks for postings this.

Glad to hear the good news! Best of luck in everything.

Oh been around idk 4 or 5 years. Town residents, and they want guys who can hunt mornings during the week.also guys who have a proven bow killing record.have to whack a doe first, lol. But no one checks so ya.... If you ever hunted the areas pre town hunt , you would not be a fan . But hey it's great if you need a spot ,just not so great if you had that spot to yourself. Many of these hunters don't seem to know much about wind and how to approach stand sites or walk right in front of you blowing their scent to where you know the deer come from.... Irondequoit each hunter gets an area to himself , Webster last I knew was a free for all. I'm for it, but it could use some fine tuning.

It's both bow and spear.

I always read spear , Hippocrates said as much as well. But hey Jack I never went past 12 th grade..... I Just remember weird things I come across. Among Classical Greeks, amazon was given a popular etymology as from a-mazos, "without breast", connected with an etiological tradition that Amazons had their right breast cut off or burnt out, so they would be able to throw their javelins;[7] there is no indication of such a practice in works of art, in which the Amazons are always represented with both breasts, although the left is frequently covered (see photos in article). I Blame Belo . Oh and I know its true my. Great great great great great great grandfather knows a guy who got a picture of one throwing a spear right breathless on his trail camera !

Hum in Greek Mythology the Amazon women warrior had their right breast removed so as to throw a spear better.

Lie my new grass whip and my Martindale machete. Martindales are the real deal, built tough for over 120 years hard to get in the U.S. I love that thing. Thought the grass whip was by my hut, not there must be home in the garage ,nope and neither is the machete, crap. We moved some stands trimmed and so on 2 weeks back. Chainsaws, pole trimmers, hand tools back packs, straps, ropes, harness. Must have left those two tools behind....although I'm having a hard time believing that. Each year I must make an offering to the deer hunting Gods, they can keep the grass whip I'd like the machete back though ! Here's a link to them http://www.ralphmartindale.co.uk/

I'm guessing you do fine. In my case our Dads did zero scouting, no stands or cameras yet somehow they got deer. Me I'm all set. Hunting same ground for 25 plus years,I know it pretty good. My spot is an island In a sea of crops, I'd say crops run at least a mile and a half of me North/South,so I'm often at the mercy of what is planted where and when it's cut, where they feel like eating and sleeping.

My first year bow hunting I killed a buck at 8 yards. Got a couple at 10 sitting in hedgerows the shot is often close .i shoot off my roof at targets real close so I learn the angles ,although year one was lucky. Keep at it have fun, just keep shooting don't chase your arrows. By that I mean adjusting things until you know it's not you. My first 2 times shooting this year I was Little high and to the right. I did not like that but knew my bow was on, by the 3 rd time I was hitting where I should be. Good luck

Genny was putting in in their Heritage 12 packs , which came out every few months. They were rotating the line up.Red, Summer Brew ,Fife and Drum ect. Since the new owners came on board they sadly did away with the Heritage packs. I found one in the garage last week....

Did it first year. I have a great hunting spot 35 minutes from me and lots of time off so I prefer to hunt there. I have another spot near where I live I can hunt if I want a quickie . Btw I grew up all around the Lake,Pellet,Whitting , Baker rd town hunting spots. I have friends who ,live in the heart of that and had hunted it for over 15 years before the town got the land. Lets just say its not like it used to be.

Dogfish head Raison D'tre is my go to beer most times. I'm open to most craft beers although I'm a malt guy so hoppy IPA's are not my favorites. I also support Genesee Brewery as local brewery's are almost a thing of the past, and while Kodak,Xerox and B&L have layed off tens of thousands ,Genny has hired people! So ya I drink Genny, Red,Ice,and even a few Cream Ales from time to time. The brothers hit the Brew Pub after work last Fri. That was fun.

I had a ballon practicing touch and goes in the field I had my turkey decoys in a couple years back..... Then there was this as I sat in the snow, or maybe not.

For me things often happen so fast, its draw, place pin, whack. I seldom have to think about anchor point, back tension and so on. I kinda like it that way . Good luck. -
Only used 3 heads in 25 years of bow hunting, but the best bone cutter I used was a swedged 2 blade Mangus . First buck I took with them ,rear quartering right under my stand, entered ribs back a bit high, came out ribs cage off side low kinda what I call the "arm pit" then it passed through the front leg bone. The tip was sticking out the bone a half inch or so. Head was undamaged. Perhaps not the best blood trails with 2blade ,but if one double lungs em that often is not an issue anyway. Been using Stingers for 7 years now, have used the Buzzcut for idk 3 years now, took 2 deer with them. Not enough to form an opinion vs the plain edge Stinger yet.but in my limited use they both seem about the same. This one passed through a nice buck and went a couple inches into dirt. Ok this is not a Buzzcut but plain.

Big thank you.

I tried to read that thing you posted there, Lawdwaz, but I did not understand much of it... I never knew it was so complicated . Here is my method , worked well 25 plus years. Late Aug. take bow off wall shoot 2 to 3 times a week till season, kill deer hang back on wall. Ok years ago I shoot a lot. But not with my "new bow" I picked up 7 years ago, that things a snap. Every few years bring to bow shop have them" check it out" .

I know a TON of bow hunters around here and lets just say you won't be the only one packing. I carry everyday everywhere. As far as the woods that's a normal place for guns, as well as hillbillies ,thieves poachers ,pot growers ,wild dogs. Again NYS is behind the times many allow carry while bow hunting, ya know the law is you can't shoot the deer with a gun in bow,do we need another saying you can carry one ? You really think ill poach a deer with a pocket 380 or snubby? Hell my bow shoots way tighter groups at 40 yards.... Concealed carry means well CONCEALED. Don't sweat it tons of guys are carring during bow just fine. Here ya go 32 states allow it. https://www.huntingclub.com/blogs/articletype/articleview/articleid/13507/bowhunters-do-you-carry-a-handgun#.UikKf8u9KSM
