  1. Your welcome, but i always feel I'm just a smuck with a cool job. I will say as far as the Holidays spoke about in the video, he's sure right. a lot of bad happens then it seems. My worst (and there was more then one) was when a 34 y/o crackhead grandma... caused a fire that killed her 3 grandkids on New years eve many years back. The Medical Examiner ws tied up on a double fatal shooting and had nobody to pick up the kids burned up bodies. The neighbors were not happy with them just laying in the yard, so they were loaded in an ambulance and we unloaded them onto the floor of our firehouse, untill they could be picked up . Yes that was messed up.
  2. Here is audio of the Webster volunteer, who is also on the job with me in the city of Rochester.its pretty powerfull . He's so calm,I can't believe it. looks like I posted link wrong..
  3. you got it he killed her with a hammer ! Heres a strange turn. my Dad back in the 60's or '70's used to pick up a couple cases of Genesee long necks from this house, from Bill Spangler who I believe worked at the brewery. It appears the shooter was his Grandson .Same name same house.
  4. Thanks for the interest. Yep I'm at work now in the city.I grew up a mile from the shooting though.I still live in Webster too. One of the wonded is also a city FF. I posted on another thread about this. A sad somber day wtf
  5. ok I grew up one mile from there, still live in Webster and work for the Rochester FD. 2 killed were both Webster volleys. One was also a LT in the Webster PD, the other worked for Rochester 911 center. Of the 2 wounded one is also a FF for the City of Rochester. I'm at work now.Thats about it.
  6. my cabin is my shed....and yes I have slept in it.
  7. Interesting choice in hunting coat, if you stiil have it can i borrow it for the Mrs. ?
  8. My wife came with a Tempo,it spent a lot of time on the back of a tow truck .
  9. Nice to see this thread keep going I thought we needed to lighten things up a bit, get back to what were all about. Sorry to see you owned a Ford Tempo Eddie.....
  10. Many may like this . http://rhinoden.rangerup.com/on-newtown-on-guns/ As for us all owning $3,000 plus gun safes. Well the market has shown few will spend more on a safe then their guns are worth. Then there are ones like my daughter, she owns one 870, so ya 3 grand for a 500 pound safe seems a bit of a reach. Then she moves once or twice a year. Call me a dinosaur but I kind of think the bad guys should be held liable not the good guys. He breaks into my house, my lessor gun safe and I'm liable if he shoots someone ? What if he steals my car? they ilke to load them up with the stuff they steal, and many hang the keys right by the door to make it super easy for the bad guy. Now if he runs someone over I guess i'm screwed again .oh crap there is a hatchet in the back seat of the car right now i'm 3x screwed if he uses that.
  11. I don't use them. Most guns in gun safe in gun/hunting room which is locked as well. Key pad pistol safe in bedroom. Short barrled 12.ga in front closet,"cruiser ready". Youngest kid is 20,both are gun shooters. I'll add I've been in 100's ok 1,000's of city homes, A bat or machette behind a door or most doors is the norm in some neighborhoods
  12. What uninsulated green rubber boots with yellow laces, a pair of stretched out wool socks that don't stay up and Wonder Bread wrappers didn't do it for you ?
  13. I knew I'd see some red and black plaid, thanks Joe. Keep 'em coming, some of you are really old.....lets see those black and whites !
  14. Here's mine, my first deer taken sometime in the early/mid '80's town of Ontario just across the Webster line. Used my Dads Rem. mod.11 with bird barrel. Put some Tinks 69 on cotton balls placed inside a film canister, because someone told me that worked lol. Well it did he walked out of the woods into a winter wheat field right to it. I had to take a digital pic of the paper pic. and yes thats one bad a$$ sweater !
  15. Welcome as well from me. Now my friend from here moved to Seattle years ago, kind of the reverse of you. He's a lawyer and lives out on Bainbridge Island, big traditional bow hunter, friend of the St Charles family. He got a Browning Shotgun as a bonus the first year at his firm out there....
  16. One guy on my crew, just in time btw got 3 more pre ban mags for his new Glock 19 and 1,000 rounds of 9mm . Thats how you do it folks buy it cheap and stack it deep, then the run on things has little affect on you.2 days later the site he bought the mags was sold out of everything and then crashed to boot ! I guess if we have another ban, there will be preban I and pre ban II mags.... both easy to get like always, but some folks we feel better.... The parents of my youngest's boyfriend just bought their first handgun a Berretta (live and learn) just because of possible coming gun control. They live in Texas (must have been the last non gun owners there) and both have Masters Degrees, smart normal folks .
  17. Right now the NRA has memberships for $25, $10 off. I've been a Life member for many years, was a SCOPE member at one time.Lets stop them using the tools they fear the most ,votes,$, numbers. Christmas is right around the corner a membership in the group of your choice makes a nice stocking stuffer .
  18. Can't speak for the coppers but our firetrucks have MDT's as well(,moblie data terminals) while parked in quarters we have to plug them in with a power cord while the rig is off and parked. As for the Trooper watching his kids game,ok he's in his patrol district ready to respond to calls, whats the beef? Like a life guard ,nobody's drowning he's getting a nice tan checking out chicks, while I paid a few grand to go on vaction at that beach. I got no problem with that and Im happy he/she is there if my kids get in trouble. I guess the trooper should sit outside the game and ticket folks for not using signals while pulling out, then everyone will be happy ! Sometimes there are reasons for things you don;t undertsand, just ask ! I've had people come up the the rig and complain that it was running while parked. the taxpayer buying fuel thing. then i'd explain,"its under 32 degrees and we need to keep the pumps running so the lines don;t freeze up. There is always someone with a hard on,most have no idea what the deal is . I had a guy film me flushing a leaking gas tank into the storm drain, he called the chiefs office and the news !! If he just walked over id have explained, we called pure waters and had permision to flush the tank. So just ask, you might just learn something !
  19. Hum well I do have a wall of awards and ribbons on my dress blues for saving lives of strangers, most of them from poor inner city neighborhoods if that matters. What I care about is that I can own and carry what I want,if you chose not to I'm way cool with that. The fact that you don't feel that way towards me is troubling, but I'd still risk it all to puill your a$$ out of a fire. I've also worked on a couple hundred folks who have been shot, most low life drug dealers and the like again doesn't matter who you are I'll do my best. gotta go swing the kettle bells with my daughter at the gym now.
  20. I don't think the ride will be much worse then other times. Clinton banned some guns in "94 the makers went around it, then it went away. Hi cap mags have always been easy to get before during and after the "ban" Black Talons became the "bad" bullet, They gave it a new name and kept on making it, I still have boxes of the old ones as well . The Bushamaster isn't an assult rifle by the state of connecticuts own definition, then there was that pesky USSC decison of late .Oh and more gun owners then ever. Oh they'll get some things passed if they strike while the iron is hot and we don't fall off that cliff, then lawsuits will start and the makers will build around the laws. I got lever actions from the late1,800's that still work fine so nothings going away soon. And lets not forget soon the NFL play offs and the new season of Survivor will start. Then Lindsey Lowen will get in trouble again and folks will will be right back to caring about those more then anything else .
  21. The 220F .20 ga. Get in line Eddie I know a few guys with them and a ton more who want one. All love it, one guy at work wife's dropped a deer at a ranged 194 yards this year with hers. One of my co -workers has almost a waiting list of guys who are barrowing it to try out. I just got quoted a price of $467 for one, but then there is a special rail and scope to add . 3 inch Barnes Expanders seems to be the choice of many .
  22. Last I knew it was the law in over 38 states and the free part of NY. Here ya go I see A LOT of blue.....looks like way more then 38 , thats what honor my Fla. and Utah last i checked. http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html
  23. and so it ends... One thing I've learned is don't do a journal , one of my slowest seasons ! i got meat, seen some great bucks, just could not connect on one. Well i look at seasons like baseball innings.my next at bat will be soon ! nice thing is having the dozer on my spot clearing what needs to be cleared, making new spots where the deer hide.Moving most of my stands, spreading them out, taking advantage of the fact that I approach from the east. Lots of mowing and knocking things down to do. Time to hit my range, camp out in my hut, enjoy the holidays, hit the gym hard again and maybe try to kill some song dogs. Never stopped drinking whiskey and smoking cigars...
  24. Another lesson to be learned. Buy from the local owned brick and morter stores, the box stores and large internet folks will not stand by you as this clearly shows .
