  1. Many years back I used to fill in at the Hudson st firehouse a lot . The driver was a funny guy, Viet Nam vet, he talked about “ get even day “, everyone gets one day a year they can “ get even with anyone .” But it’s a different day for everyone , unlike the Purge where it’s the same day and one can hunker down on that day . This was many many years before the movie btw .
  2. It’s all relative as they say . I could go hunt with friends in Montana every year , it generally takes them as long as a weekend to kill a buck like this . Some years they see 200 bucks a day ,you read that right . Great buck , certainly not much of a challenge is it ? I went once took a small Mullie in the four days I hunted, they said it was an off year after a bad winter kill, idk perhaps I’m a jinx .
  3. At least he uses a traditional bow … This is Hudson Ave in Roch. A street which brings back many fond memories.
  4. My wife got mad when I posted “ Larry” written in snow on Instagram. Hey you try doing those letters in pee I was proud !
  5. Sad but true . my wife smoked for 40 years, finally quit but has copd. I told her for years I wasn’t going to push her around in a wheelchair ,while she was on O2 . She finally quit, but gained some weight , as she was always skinny , she dropped those pounds last year thank God . It’s funny seeing posts from fat tubs of lard on here , dude it’s your #1 risk factor if your a true COVID believer drop those LBs ,you’ve had two years but nothing ….lol
  6. Wow I use maybe a quart power washing my 20x20 patio , pool deck and steps , that must be one big 9 pt . Anyways I keep 15 gallons of gas on hand here at my little suburban lot . Neighbor just texted we’re one of the only streets worth power ,sadly .
  7. Sorry bro, but I enjoy the solitude of an outage . The Mrs and I playing gin in the glow of an oil lamp ( although she cheats and still loses ) I guess I’m Just an old romantic ! I can wait a bit as she’s making me shrimp scampi right now ….
  8. So disappointed, let’s knock everyone’s power out for a few days .
  9. I was paying 3.5k every two years for an arborist to inject approximately 25-30 trees . Did that until another one told me I can buy the same stuff, measure tree , mix with water and pour around the tree , I spend $350 or so each year now , my trees are thriving . Three in the back are on a corner of three lots, I didn’t believe they were mine so didn’t treat them till a couple years ago, they’re ok haven’t got worse, not sure if improving yet either . The DEC won’t let the pros pour it into the ground , and one can’t buy the full strength in stores here , and since last year they won’t ship it to NY. I either have friends bring it back from Fla. or like this year bring it back myself . I have two years worth here and will bring back a couple more in April .
  10. No woods but , secured some Christmas decorations , started the Honda Generator and Stihl chain saw , made sure they’re topped off . Gas fireplace , two buddy heaters ,lots of led lights at the ready bring on the wind , hope we lose power for a few days . Next week looks awesome for late season hunting , upper 40s and 50s ! Love me some blue Jean hunting .
  11. No just get a shot and it’ll all go back to normal lol ! Get the shot and theres no need for masks lol , 70 % vaccination rate and we’ll have herd immunity they said lol . Fool me once …. I haven’t worn a mask in a year and won’t , I got the damn jabs now clear a path I’m coming through ! being crazy preppers we I don’t need to shop for food for a few months anyways , but next month we leave this state for free states, see ya in April suckers !
  12. He’s a venture capitalist, owns companies all across the U.S. and Canada , he works from home but also travels to those companies as needed , so long range plans are risky . It seems one can take two bucks ( and 3 doe per day …) the season runs into Jan. Now you got me thinking . I’ll have to text him .
  13. Congrats to those that scored ! My nephew in Tenn. just sent me this ,and almost apologized for shooting a small one , he was frustrated, seeing tons of small bucks daily but none of his big ones . He hunts 1500 acres he shares with the owner . If we can line up our schedules I should drive down some year .
  14. And yet some true believers here will still be grossly over weight , next year . The single most important thing that they can control to lessen their risk .
  15. Congrats ! btw there’s a taxidermist that I use near you , over on Brickyard rd. I’m dropping mine off for a euro today . He’s Long time Hunter in the area ,knows it well may be a good source of info as well .
  16. I have a cheap savage rifle with some sort of scope package deal , I think it’s a bushnel ? Idk . No complaints . $2700 !? That’s more then I’ve ever spent on hunting guns, stands ,binoculars, and clothes lol .yikes that’s some pricey meat .
  17. I’m happy to say I don’t know who those folks are ! Along with I’m not much of a customer for the “hunting industry “ as I don’t buy much hunting stuff . My hunting clothes are washed in the same cheap crap Mrs nomad washes all our clothes in, if I shower prior to a hunt it’s with Irish Spring , I eat and drink coffee in the truck and if I need gas I stop and get it . I don’t spray stuff on my clothes or drag things behind me , no scent loc stuff, certainly no ozone machines lol . My stands are more often then not picked for their comfort or the fact that the drag would be shorter . No food plots, cell cameras, magic beans or voodoo dolls , although I wouldn’t rule out trying a a voodoo doll . I’ve bought three bows in 33 years and I only bought the last one because I could no longer draw number two back . My deer pics get posted here and on IG where I influence no one . Happily ignorant in my hunting ways .
  18. Yep, when we were “ shotgun “ many of us used ML as they were superior to slug guns . Once we went to rifle I sold my ML.
  19. You’ve all heard me cry the last two years ,ok . All bow 3 doe seen and a handful of young bucks, no scrapes , few rubs, not bumping any walking in and out ,when the last 31 years deer all, over bumping them most days , picking out when and where to drop one ,it was frankly easy hunting . People said keep grinding , i said why ? There’s no deer around and it sucks sitting day after day and not seeing any when in past years it was 3-6 most sits . Then 8 days into gun and not seeing ONE deer, this happened .
  20. Just occurred to me . The farm that boarders my spot is about 400 acres of mostly wide open crop fields, with one hedgerow which we share , an old creek bed , and a hand full of trees , plus my thicket boarders it . Theres a young man who hunts it a lot, the first time we met he was walking in with a pop up,blind along with a folding chair , that’s how he hunts it . In and out each time with the blind, often a new spot next time based on what he sees . He gets deer , often when they come out of our thicket to feed on their side , and there he is in his blind he just set up . I know of two blinds that went into fields last week, once the corn was cut , it’s a yearly thing , I’d imagine they wouldn’t do,it if it didn’t work .
  21. gee thanks … Did it for one reason only , we thought at some point one would have to show your papers to attend events, travel etc . We have months booked down south and a trip to Alaska that involves flying into Canada . Probably 20k invested that i don’t wish to lose out on . So once I could walk in and simply get the at that time the one and done J&J shot .
  22. Since we’re on the topic of grammar, ( which I’m very poor at ) , noone , which you use all the time , is not a word, it’s no one . Carry on .
  23. Only difference between there and here is it takes a few months to get your carry permit , no training component. Here’s our oldest daughters first handgun . Back on topic ,every gun safety rule as well as sop involving their use on set was ignored. That’s one magic gun, magically live rounds get in it ( should have been checked by the three sets of hands that handled it ) and magically it fires it self , and hits two people it wasn’t pointed at ….
