  1. To a high degree yes . The land owners with the most issues ( often they don’t even know ) are absentee land owners, elderly ones , and others who don’t keep an eye on their land . Theres 3 landowners around us that everyone knows its just best to avoid trying anything on their land . One Mean Jean ,owns farm land that runs along my hunting spot, she’s known to stand outside with binoculars and confront hunters on her ATV. Ah but the Bully on The Hill takes it to another level, he’ll chase you down with whatever is handy, I’ve heard stores of shovels and shotguns , he’s a large man as well . He bought land that boarders ours , so I introduced myself , and we got along ok ,although I didn’t trust him at all, and I certainly didn’t set foot on his land . Towards the end ( he moved ) he was running around the woods naked with a large knife in hand . In retrospect I should have hired him to run off snowmobiles .
  2. I’m more inclined to follow our attorneys advise ,on not volunteering an opening ,however remote .
  3. This can be a hot topic here . We do not , every year the club , contacts our attorney for permission and every he turns them down . The club , puts up trail marking signs , repairs any damage has insurance and so on , but there’s no benefit at all to the land owner, outside perhaps creating some goodwill . He said it’s not worth the risk ( however small ) of some creative lawsuit . As a side note they trespass on my posted hunting land all the time during gun and ML season , so my opinion of them is not favorable to allowing any on our farmland . Here’s a couple, emails from our attorney on the matter .
  4. New guy showed up, got him on multiple days, he seems to like the camera ! He should be careful ,there’s a stand right there .
  5. Drop it off , go home sit in hot tub with a cigar and a few strong beers , just like Ishi did .
  6. Not hot , otherwise he wouldn’t have gotten written up . I can’t believe they’re writing traffic tickets , it’s a free for all here . I’ll do 70 in a 55 and get passed on all sides by cars doing 80-90 . Cars all running reds , passing on double yellow lines , dirt bikes and atvs along with crotch rockets everywhere , sidewalks , blocking intersections , mad Max , was their training film , nobody pulled over , you can pass a cop and flip him off . If the cops try to pursue,it’s called off by a boss .
  7. Elite synergy bow, then maybe my Tenpoint cross gun savage 7mm08
  8. Temps in the teens ? I’m home . It’s easy I sit mostly ,and the bow rests across my silky smooth thighs , first or last light I stand and hold the bow ,with the release attached to it . I also don’t use rifle sling , gun in hand or lap, mostly , I have a para cord loop on it so I can hang it if I need to hang one …. oh and in bow season I sit maybe three hours in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon . Never have never will sit all day . That’s crazy .
  9. I use a screw in step wrapped in tape , but that’s for ,things like when Mother Nature calls . I want my bow in my hand or lap .
  10. I “ always “ check my equipment prior . Just put on a full spool and charged the battery, the gate area is an easy five minute job .the farm mows, from the road in a bit, stopping short of the bridge I’ll do tomorrow another guy comes in from the back and does 900 or so,feet of lane way to the gate . Later on the farm will brush hog the field next to lane way for,me , and around the outer edge 360 .
  11. When I hunted where others did too, I’d toss old bones up on their stands . I don’t know why , I just did .
  12. Well, well, well pretty good shots today , first since late April I believe. Single arrow was the first at 20 yards, pulled , that then shot 1@10, 1@20, then 1@30 very pleased ! I don’t shoot many @30 and almost none farther. Shoulder was “ ok” but I sure won’t be shooting a lot , to keep,it that way .
  13. FYI your line used to make a Prusik knot should be of a smaller diameter then the life line ( many prefer 1/2 ) , and somewhat tight once on the main line , it’s also not always reliable on wet / frozen line or slippery type Home Depot rope . Static Kernmantle is the preferred rope for both . I use a Double Fishremans knot to make the closed loop used to tie the Pursik . I don’t use them on ladderstands ,although I tie in once up . I do have one on the ladder my daughter uses .
  14. Going down tomorrow, pull two cards, weed whack in front of the gate , was perhaps moving a stand, and shooting ,but our friends are up from Tenn. and want to meet up .
  15. Haven’t shot my bow yet , may do a card pull next week , still need to move two stands . A few more camping trips and boating to do . I’ll be out a bit in October , but early November is what I’m waiting for . To hot I’d rather be floating in the pool or circling Irondequoit Bay .
  16. Back in the ‘80s lots of guys I worked with in a factory hunted it , from what I recall it was very food hunting if you knew where to go and got in early . Not much help I know , but they liked hunting there .
  17. Our two were there a couple weeks ago , great food and hikes !
  18. As far as percentages owning generators , I’d think it’s a regional thing , very few in large cites more in the burbs and way more in the country . There’s three whole house ones on my street , and when we lose power after a bit, gas generator after generator ,start up throughout the neighborhood . Oh and buy a good cable lock for it , they tend to grow feet in prolonged outages . We had the Honda’s on our fire trucks if that says anything , rode hard put away wet, one pull start every time . My wife can start it with ease.
  19. Honda EU 2200 , to run the RV . However at home it can save a freezer of meat, and run the blower on our gas fireplace . I’ve done 11 days and 3 days without power due to ice storms , experience is a good teacher but sometimes it’s not the way one wants to,learn . The gas fireplace turns on and burns with no electricity, and it did a fine job during the three days , as I blocked off rooms and the stairway , but the blower running is a game changer . My back up water powered sump pump ran flawlessly almost nonstop on the three day run back in ‘03
  20. Good luck fellas. Grounds already saturated, and trees have full leaf cover , add heavy winds ,that’s a problem .
  21. You are right . Funny thing a friend just traded his AK47 W/bump stock , for a Mini thirty . His thinking was well, he wanted a more under the radar gun, and it uses the same ammo ,which he has a ton of , for now .
  22. By God Economics were my favorite classes in my brief college days ! This hits two determinants of supply, 1.gov. regulations and 2. A reduction in the number of sellers . So less supply means the curve moves, well I forget the direction , but we’ll be paying more .
  23. Now go to 7.62 , which the AK uses. Imported steel, case is what feeds those guns . I don’t have one ,so the impact on me isn’t a direct one , but I view any reduction in the ammo supply as having a cumulative effect ( affect ? )
  24. Rob, a lot of people can’t find ammo currently, so, any reduction in the supply ,will simply make it even harder as well as help maintain elevated prices . Myself I don’t have any Russian ammo , but to my surprise one of the recent cases of 9mm I bought was made in Bosnia. It’s been a clean reliable ammo so far ,would I seek it out instead of Hornady ? No . But it was available at the time .
