I have a friend who lives on Bainbridge Island , which is an island off Seattle where the average house is close to a million . He’s a progressive down with the people ,yet he effectively has a mote to protect himself from the people . I’ve been there many times, it’s no surprise to me what you saw .

Today after the gym, and so, many without a mask, I figured I’d give it a try elsewhere . Once I saw the other guy go in the store without wearing one ,that’s all I needed . Strength in numbers and all that . I would have left the dog food at the register, but I didn’t want to make another stop .

Many at the gym today without a mask, at the pool store myself and another guy , no mask they asked him to wear one, then said, “ we just gotta ask “ . The guy looked at me and just didn’t bother saying anything. Ah but petco, I went in bare faced, shopped, stood in line and it wasn’t till it was time to ring me up that the kid said ,that I had to put a mask on or he couldn’t ring me up . So I hung one from my ears that covered most of my chin. They had a stack of them and the trash can by the door was full of them ,so it seems others come in sans mask . Its going to be real interesting if Cuomo doesn’t get with the CDC soon .

One charity I give to every year , is Mercy Flight . They’re based right by where I hunt , shoot, have land , I see them leave often ... Thank you .

Emerald Ash Borer and timber harvest

I had 47 ash trees in my yard , cut down maybe half . I’ve been treating the rest for many years now, this is the product Ive used with great success. My neighbors trees are all dead and falling over , mine ,full canopy, no bark damage . At first they wouldn’t ship to 4 counties around NYC , then they wouldn’t ship,to,anywhere in NYS, although there web page said just those 4 counties . I did this years treatment today , then I found a guy online who will ship to me , so I ordered the next two years ahead of time . You can get a weaker product ( 1/2 as concentrated) in like quarts , what a pain the full strength gallons are worth it . Incase anyone has a few in their yards that they wish to keep . -
I’d end it today . Every place is screaming for workers , and if someone I hired when they needed a job , passed on coming back ,I’d be reporting them to the dept of labor .

In Bob Gibsons last game ,LaCock hit a grand slam , demoralizing Gibson. Years later they faced of in an old timers game, and Gibson hit him..... or so the story goes .

I had the same thing happen with my ML, first shot nothing second it would fire . Turns out the store sold me #10 caps .

You don’t have to participate in temporary shortages
Nomad replied to Nomad's topic in General Chit Chat
Something else to think about . Right now in the NYS Senate is a carbon tax Bill, that aside from a 55 cent additional cost to gasoline , will rise the cost of home heating fuels 26% ! Now if it passes other then drive more people out of NYS, if I recall my economics classes and I do , when the cost of one item goes up, the demand for substitute goods increases . So people will turn to, wood and pellet stoves, space heaters and so on. I don’t know what the chances of it passing are , but if I heated with wood or pellets , used those little green propane tanks in my blind , I’d get a head of the curve . I’d imagine just the threat of that Bill has got many on the fence of buying a wood stove , did so . -
Ammo, chicken , paper products, cleaning products , gasoline. Sure for many it was mostly just an annoyance, this time . Perhaps just perhaps ,add a few shelves in your basement , buy in bulk and on sale and rotate the things you use . If some guys in Russia can shut down nearly half of the fuel transport for the East Coast of the U.S. with just a few key strokes , what else will they shut down ? Perhaps the next pandemic is worse and it’s an immediate lock down , well at the compound we can go for a few months ,between the deer meat, canned chicken and the food on our basement shelves. Oh let’s add the pool chlorine shortage , I have a good year plus here at home ,as we don’t run on the just in time method . Batteries, little green propane tanks, bee and wasp spray everything we use, we buy a good supply of , and replace as it gets used a bit . I don’t have a barn, just suburban home with a garage with some shelves , a shed, and a few long shelves in the basement . Once our kids went to college in Buffalo, I started filling our gas tanks when they hit 1/2 ,as I wanted to be able to go there ASAP if there were any issues , between that and a couple 5 gallon cans I’m feeling pretty comfortable to ride out a short term disruption, but being retired I don’t drive much . Ask yourself this prior to the last year, how often did you use or hear the words, “ supply chain ?” Now I hear it daily and it’s for disruptions and how fragile it is . Wegmans stores have three days worth of food at any one time, and at the big warehouses , it goes in one door and out the other daily . Ya people will make fun of you , those are the ones I haven’t given any ammo or a few pool chlorine tabs to .

Don’t get me wrong , if you want to go do,it ! But find some tour that’ll take you to cool things . I’m no expert on the place , I’ts the remoteness was the cool factor ,that and trying to find a spot along the river to set up camp ,that didn’t have bear tracks the size of a Frisbee ...

Canoed a part of the Yukon River . The river is rich in history , lots of old gold and trapping camps ,but a very boring river to canoe , little to no whitewater. Whitehorse is the largest city ,17k and nothing to see there . I’m not sure what,I’d do there other then canoe ,it’s big and empty . Also keep,in mind all those sunny pictures, are taken on the one sunny day of the year . Am I glad I went ? Yes ! Would I go again ? Idk .

Ok left to right . Rick Hinderer made ,XM18 , Microtech OTF, Spyderco Delica that I beat the crap out of, Spyderco Yojimbo and on top a Strider Rouge Warrior ,that I sent to custom knife maker Tom Krein to regrind the blade to my liking. Since Larry, added a flashlight , this is my new fav. Skillhunt E2A , hard to find a rear clicky switch on a small light , I liked it so much after one day, I bought a second as a back up .

Well I’ll follow him too ,thanks ! edit: ok I’m following him, guns, knives ,cigars and the gym we’re two, of the same , but I think my abs are better . It’s just that you can’t see them under the layer of fat .....
-
Generally carry a Spyderco of some sort , although at times an OTF Microtech , or my Hinderer XM18 . Often I’ll back them up with a Case mini Copper lock . I love love love my Leatherman Wingman ! Especially the one hand opening blade and the pocket clip , frankly its more useful then just a folder, but I can’t make the switch . If the blade was better steel and a half inch or so longer , I might . Borngeechee, with the win for the limited run Shaman !!! taking the dog to the Vet now, I’ll post some pics later .

Brought out the big boys ,I see ! Although the weight of the .44 helps a lot I’d guess . -
I was cleaning the equipment before and after i used it at the gym for years ,many didn’t even wipe it down after . Then I washed my hands before I left the gym and opened the door with my elbow . So I get precautions, but they can stick the closures and masks except in perhaps around the most vulnerable. The school / flu thing makes sense , add in kids not in daycare but home as well .

Future son in law bought his first gun , a .22 semi auto, but they had no ammo for it , so I gave him 200 rounds . Got invited to lunch at my old firehouse , their new LT said his dad has an old 25-20 but there’s no ammo for that to be found , gave him a box of 50 . I don’t think they even make it anymore . My Dad had one too and although I sold it, I had that box just sitting around for years . That was two happy fellas !

It’s just another angle to come at guns and gun people .
