I don't know Doc. I just watched the story on WIVB-TV CH 4 at noon today. The stories on their website.

Just watched on news that there are large number of ducks that have died along Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The DEC calls it extensive. The ducks have died due to starvation, not able to reach their food due to the ice cover this extremely cold winter. There will probably be more news on this. I just watched it today at noon.

You say first that you are o.k. with handicapped or disabled using a crossbow if they physically can't draw a bow. But then you say that if you NEED a crossbow to hunt, your either lazy or can't shoot worth a**** and are trying to take the easy way out. Well, I am disabled and have difficulty drawing a bow and I am not lazy OR trying take easy way out. I have modified archery permit and even the draw-loc is difficult and awkward to use. Your statements contradict each other.

That dream would be nice reality.

So is this what you "upstate guys" do on a Saturday night?

I wonder if Governor "C" supports this type of behavior -
I was in there last week to pick up an order they had been out of that I had delivered there. It took 35 minutes to get cashed out. The guy and girl working front checkout didn't know how to put in my gift card and rest of what I owed onto my credit card. They had to call the manager who upon arriving at front desk didn't come over to me, he started checking out other customers. I just shook my head. Finally, he comes over , gets me cashed out and apologizes for the delay. I can imagine he says "I'm sorry" to the customers several times a day, if that's the way they operate.

Another thing that happens is they close the schools when temperature goes to -0. When I was younger and the temp went below 0 , parents would make sure their kids were dressed properly, and the kids would go off to get the bus for school. Now you see young teens wearing their pajamas to the store in 0 degree temps and they are usually with a parent(and the parents sometimes have their pajamas on too) but they still close the schools cause its to cold out. I just don't understand it sometimes......

Another station in Buffalo likes to stir fear and doom it seems like...they use the words treacherous, slammed, brutal etc. and then pat themselves on the back saying "We told you last week the snow was coming". And they spend half the newscast on the weather. It's weather overload.

Thanks Mike Rossi and Larry for input, I never would of guessed the pecking for stone and salt.

It was on the Hartland Rd. just heading south from rt.18 maybe a mile. There wasn't any farms or houses right there where there was a pen or something they escaped from. I just haven't seen many at all except where they do stock the birds. I was headed back home from Golden Hill State Park after trying for some rabbits(no luck). They stock pheasant there in fall but that's distance from when I spotted these.
-
I thought maybe the road would give some relief to the pheasant from the deep snow in the fields but that is just a guess.
-
I came across these pheasant last Thursday while driving in Niagara County. There was 4 in all. I rarely ever see 1 pheasant but 4? I told a friend of mine about it and he has spotted them on the roads driving to work in southern Erie County recently also. Does anyone know why they congregate like that on the roadway? They are so scarce and seeing them like that surprised me.

That's for sure!!!!
