What a soggy day. Rain darn near all day with some hellish downpours tonight. Thunder & lightning added to the fun. Flooded roads, full ditches and lawns. April showers bring May flowers.................

We had one (maybe two) would ding off at work this morning. Great to hear your first gobble of the year!!!!!!

I was checking my turkey hunting vest tonight in anticipation of the May 1st opener. I always have a Silva compass in my vest just in case........Well it turned out I had another compass in there with the Silva, a fish eye Brunton. Can never have too many right? Goodness knows none of us ever get lost, just "turned around". I started digging around and it seems as though I have accumulated a few of these darned things. The TruNord seems to be pretty nice piece. I bought two when I looked into them. The old Marbles came from a flee market for a couple dollars. The different Silvas seem to be the best bang for the buck as they settle down fast compared to others. Fish eye compasses are almost always "good enough" for most of my hunting but I do like a pocket compass once in awhile. The silver one just to the right of the packaged Silva fish eye came from a deceased friend that saved my bacon one night in Pennsylvania back in 1985. I had shot a doe with my bow and only got one lung. We gave her an hour then started to look for her. After 150 yards or so she jumped up and bolted. We decided to leave her for the night..........I turned off my flashlight and said to him "holy cow, I haven't a clue on what way we need to go". He said "don't worry kid, I took a compass reading and bearing before we struck out for the deer". He pulled out that silver compass and we took a look then started out. Piece of cake!! After he passed, I asked his wife for the compass and she gave it to me. I treasure it for multiple reasons. (oh yea, we found the dead doe 50-60 yards from where we jumped her the next morning) This past winter I was hunting rabbits with a unnamed forum member here (the RealTCIII) and we got ever so slightly twisted around in the wilds of Lancaster, NY. There were four of us and we damned near all pointed in different directions when it was time to head back to the barn...... Between us we had four nice smart phones that helped get us squared away, that and a little Google Earth. So.........that said, what's your worst "turned around" story? I have one more but my fingers are tired......... There could be another couple stashed in packs, hooked on coats or in the truck but these were easy reaching for the mug shot.........

Just a little windy on my side of the bed here......

Very good!

The time in the pics is different by a long shot. At first I thought it was a burst of three shots and I was going to say, dude that's quite a camera! Heck if I know............
-
I've had (like you I'm sure) tons of similar shots but best of all is the trail cam videos of the deer fogging up the lens of the cam. Love 'em!!

Nice camo job. Best of luck to the young lady!!

Spring birds? My buddies dad (deceased now) had killed a couple while wearing blue jeans but had a camo coat, face mask and gloves on.

Happy Easter with no shame. Eye bleach may be required

speechless again!!!!! -
Drank a couple Molson, that count? Along with that I wiped it all down with rubbing alcohol and taped things off/plugged important holes etc. It'll be interesting to see how it holds up.

Ahhhhh, Porsche paining isn't necessarily in my wheel house but no time like the present to learn.

Finally found the nerve to slop some paint on the old Benelli SBE. Killed quite a pile of birds with it in the past 17 years but last year I think the finish of the bluing and wood has shined up enough over the years to not be helping me at all. Grabbed some camo paint and had at it last night. Some touch up work may be needed and definitely some time in the sun today to help cure the paint. A couple pics, seconds apart when the clouds were in, then out. I'm going out on a limb and guessing I'm the last guy you want "tagging" the side of your box car or building........

Happy Easter guys & gals! No hidden baskets or colored eggs here, kids are too old. We'll be having a ham dinner with family at our place, as usual. The crowd is smaller, only 11 people, in the past we have had as many as 17. No dog to trip over, beg for scraps or leave black hair in your food this year although she'll be missed for sure as she loved all. Momma and I are going to make a quick run to Tim Horton's for her daily fix. Looks like a beautiful day on the way. You guys have plans??????

Somewhere I may have a book on the CCC camps. I'll look.....

I read your thread the other day but don't recall if I responded to that one but........... I was at my .FIL's home in Florida last week and we had some septic trouble too. He lived there alone each year from October to May then would come up here so his system is "used" to his low water consumption/waste being sent through. Back in early January he had to come back north and is in an assisted living facility here in WNY. My wife and I went down to FL to prepare the home for sale. One morning she had just finished in the shower and then I jumped in. As I was showering I heard that gurgle gurgle sound coming from the toilet. When I got out of the shower I noticed that the toilet was full......damn. I tried plunging and just made a mess. The call was made to the Honey Dippers and they came later that next day. (good thing as the ground in his backyard is super hard and I was running out of places to bury things ) They pumped it then had to power flush it (I even got to help run the machine) after pulling the second lid on the tank. They flushed it from the tank back to the house and the blockage was visibly seen and cleared. $500 later we were back up and running. Although I've certainly heard of RidX, I had no experience with it. My FIL said he used it every month but I think he is FOS. He had 3-4 old containers in the garage, all about half gone. The septic guys said RidX was junk, the stuff they sold was 100% better. (no surprise!) They were saying that it is an absolute necessity to use some form of that type product in the system. I thought that was curious because although I've never owned a home with a septic, a bunch of my friends have them and I've never heard reference them using RidX EVER. Now I'm curious and will be sure to ask....... Good luck Doc, crapping in a 5gal bucket ain't the worst, digging the holes is where the trouble lies.

Yea and you can't blame it on Jenny anymore..........

The family doesn't necessarily need to know your plans........
