  1. I've been given guns by friends, family and customers when I ran my business. Many of them were from people that were "afraid" of them. I ain't scared.......... I've bought and sold others, mostly from customers that had no use for them. A couple years ago I bought a S&W 342 and had it shipped to a local FFL I'd never used before. When I went to pick it up, I noticed a bunch of guns standing against the wall. I inquired out of curiosity WTH was up with them? He said another customer left them there for him to peddle. I noted the prices and had to do some quick math in my head. IIRC I ended up with a pre-64 Model 70 .243, a Browning 20ga Superposed and S&W Model 41. I kept the Browning and sold the other two for enough to pay for the Browning and pocket a FEW hundred cash......... I'm NOT against flipping, I just don't want anymore for my own use and they have to be high quality clean guns.
  2. Most of the time I call my wife but on occasion I'll call a hunting buddy, either Dave or Clark. When I shot this buck fall of '15 I called Clark first. Within seconds of hanging up the bow after the shot I had him on the horn.......I absolutely new that the shot was as perfect as you could ask for and that the buck was going to be "Stevie Wonder" easy to recover. Then I called Dave, THEN my wife.
  3. Your timing was impeccable that night. The lighting, tracking, recovery and hauling were easy because your shot was true.
  4. The thing is with old guns, these days they are more trouble then they're worth sometimes. What the the Safe Act in effect the hoops you need to jump through to flip them and make a buck are hardly worth it. I'm done being a collector. These days I'd just as soon be the seller............. Good luck with the deal!
  5. I've seen one saw-whet owl that I know of. I was with my friend Clark and we were tracking a buck I hit with the bow, we had a Coleman lantern and here is this little bitty owl about eye level on a pine branch right in front of us. One of those VERY cool things that only outdoorsy people ever get a chance to see. Ha...didn't know "outdoorsy" is a word.
  6. Just wondering.........Is it Orange, green, red or blue?
  7. I'll keep that one in mind.......
  8. Gaaaaawwwwdddddd..........what a sweet place. How much for that renovation, a million?
  9. Another thing........2 double hungs to fill 96" +/- are going to very wide, a picture and two DH flankers instead? Edit to add: smaller DH windows might scare the deer less if'n you're looking to cork one from the living room. Just a thought....
  10. I'll be the odd man out and say Pella but I work for a "Pella Platinum Certified Contractor". We do you installations with Marvin and Anderson but locally we get the best service from Pella. Are you doing a vinyl, fiberglass or wood window growie? New construction or pocket install? Here's one from January....(pics aren't in order) We did almost the entire house on this job.

    One down

Alright! Nice going Kevin, someday she'll REALLY get it.
  12. She's got some miles on her, if she could only talk..........
  13. If I had the place for it, I wouldn't hesitate to own one. I think the B2601 would be just the ticket. Not like I'm shopping or anything.........
  14. I'd like to get out for some panfish soon, not sure about trout but maybe. I have a little tributary to the Cattaraugus Creek I need to fish again just for the shear beauty of it. Many years ago I fished it and it just seems like I've been to busy for the past 20 years to find the time.
  15. I'd like to do one of those breakfasts sometime but the couple times we tried, the crowds were too deep. Maybe I can talk the wife into a run next weekend down to Ray Milk's in Arcade if he's still doing it. Our daughter is coming home today for a few days (spring break?) so I'll do up some French Toast with Dinsdale branded syrup tomorrow.
  16. I am messed up; Italian sausage, German potato salad and green beans for dinner tonight. Tomorrow night will be the corned beef & cabbage dinner.
  17. Damn it all, Happy Birthday Dan!!!!
  18. Hairy woodpecker ? Never heard of them.
  19. Ok all kidding aside, where did that thread go? Was it something that was said about the governor?
  20. I love the song of the male Cardinal especially in the early morning this time of year. They sit way up high in the maple trees and whistle their little love song back and forth. Great stuff!
  21. I'm pissed!! Whoever swiped my thread better damn well bring it back. The clock is counting down..........10, 9, 8, 7............
  22. I'd like a brief breakdown on the goings-on here. 100 words or less.....
